*To be eligible for a NRC family or senior couple membership the primary member and spouse must be legally married as recognized by the State of Idaho. In addition, only children considered legal dependents ages 18 and under may be included on a family membership. Provisions may be made to place dependent children ages 19 through 21 on a family membership. See the NRC Membership Eligibility policy for details. The NRC may ask for proof of legal dependency or a marriage certificate from anyone registering for a family or senior couple membership.

The Nampa Recreation Center is a 140,000 square foot indoor facility offering many recreation amenities to the public. Our mission is to provide quality programs and services, be responsive to the citizens, and play an active role in making Nampa a healthy community.

To ensure the safety of our members and visitors, the Nampa Recreation Center will enforce all policies and procedures. fitness Weight Room Age Policy

The weight room is reserved for individuals 15 years and older. Youth 13 and 14 years old may obtain weight room privileges by completing the NRC’s Youth Strength Training Course. The NRC offers the ZONE for 10-14 years olds and functional training under certain parameters for those as young as 6 years old. Each youth participant must complete an orientation with a trainer and sign a “Youth Training Pledge and Consent” form along with their parent before engaging in training.

The ZONE (Youth Fitness Center)

The ZONE features strength training equipment specifically engineered for youth ages 10-14. Stop by or call the weight room for more information or to schedule an orientation. Member Free, Non-Member $15

Balance & Fall Prevention Class

This class will help increase mobility and independence by improving lower body strength, endurance, flexibility and bone mass, which can help reduce the risk of falling. Strength Training for Women

This six-week course will cover a variety of equipment and free weights helping you to feel more comfortable in the weight room. You will learn more about weight room etiquette and jargon, safe and effective training techniques, the five fitness components and their benefits, and have lots of time to practice what you learn! Youth Strength Training Course

By successfully completing this 11-hour course, youth ages 13 and 14 years will be granted use of the weight room (some restrictions apply). youth programs Kids in Action Day Camp-(KIA)

The Nampa Rec Center, Kids in Action day camp program is a great way to keep your kids active when school is out. Kids in Action gets your kids moving in a supervised, safe environment. Kindergarten through fifth graders stay actively engaged before and after school, or full day care is available too! Transportation is included to and from any Nampa public school with additional 50¢ charge. No commitment, you only pay for the days your child attends and credits are issued when your plans change, if you call by 12:30pm. A $5 late fee will be charged if your child has not been paid for by the end of the day of attendance. Call 208-468-5858 for more information or to set up a tour to see for yourself. youth programs LEGO CAMP EV3 Mindstorms

Children will design and build different programmable robots using technic bricks, gears, motors, sensors and many other components. They will take 2 dimensional drawings and create 3 dimensional models all while testing and revising to make their robot just perfect! Children will be challenged, engaged and have a ton of fun. Young Rembrandts Teen Drawing

Focus will be on sequentially placing shapes, lines and a variety of details creating drawings, working form larger shapes to smaller details. Teaching our coloring technique, your teen has used makers and colored pencils before, but not in this manner, and not with these results. We offer a safe, comfortable place to talk about art, learn drawing skills and have fun. It’s about the process, as well as the final product. Programming with Robots and Sensors

Explore the basics of how to program a robot to move around and interact with its environment. Get hands on experience with the many different sensors that robots are using in real world applications. Girls and boys alike will have fun using block code to program the robots to perform fun and exciting tasks. Mission: Robots in Space Explore how robots help humans go places they never could beforelike other planets in our solar system! Sponsored by the Nampa Recreation Department and Meadow Gold Dairies, Inc. Offered in cooperation with the Nampa School District. This program will provide an opportunity for youth to learn basic skills and teamwork in a recreational atmosphere. Children register on a team coached by a parent volunteer. Each week, teams will have two 1-hour practices (kindergarten and first grade teams will have one 45-minute practice) Games are played on Saturdays. Nampa Youth Volleyball League

Sponsored by the Nampa Recreation Department offered in cooperation with the Nampa School District, this program will provide an opportunity for girls in the 5th and 6th grade to learn basic volleyball skills and teamwork in a recreational environment. Children register on a team coached by a parent volunteer. Each week, teams will have two 1-hour practices. The sport form of judo uses scientific principles to throw, trip, sweep or otherwise propel one’s opponent to the mat. Once there, the same theories apply to control and immobilize the opponent to achieve victory in competition. Safety, sportsmanship, self-discipline, cooperation and FUN are the emphasis in the youth class. Cost does not include uniform, see instructor for price. Traditions Tang Soo Do

This class teaches self confidence, builds self-esteem and improves balance, while establishing discipline and courtesy towards others. Participants will learn age appropriate self-defense and weapons training. These classes are non-violent; sparring is optional. Students should wear loose fitting clothing, such as sweat pants and a t-shirt. No jewelry or watches during class. A mouth guard and a groin protector cup (males) are recommended. Gymnastics is a great Physical foundation for kids of all ages that helps develop strength, coordination, physical fitness and self-esteem. Our instructors will help guide children in a positive atmosphere. Each class is designed to teach progressions safely and allows the child to move at their own pace. For a current class schedule or to register, visit the Rec Center website or stop by the Program Desk. A $10 additional fee will be charged for students who register on or after the 1st of the month. Monthly tuition is due by the 20th of the prior month to guarantee a place in the following month’s class. New student tuition will be prorated. Instructors cannot accept payment. Working in a wide variety of activities while developing coordination, agility, muscle strength, flexibility, balance and motor skills, children will prepare to move on to either the Little Rings or Minigym classes. The Nampa Rec Center houses five swimming pools for your exercise and recreational enjoyment. Programs consist of swimming lessons, aquatic safety classes, water aerobics and kayaking. Enjoy access to the Lap Pool, Rec Pool, Deep Pool, and Kids Pool. Open swim times will offer recreational play in pools of different sizes and temperatures. CPR/AED & First Aid Class

Course is designed to teach participants to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. Upon successful completion participants are issued a 2 year certification through the American Red Cross. Swim Idaho!

Swim Idaho! Is a way for lap swimmers to chart their progress, set goals and conquer those goals. Swimming bench marks are: 102 miles the distance of the Boise River, 425 miles the distance of the Salmon River, 779 miles the distance of the length and width of Idaho and finally 1,076 the distance of the mighty Snake River. T-shirts are awarded at each Idaho Bench Mark. Ask a lifeguard how to start tracking your laps!

Homeschool Swimming

The Nampa Recreation Center is proud to offer a fun and energetic 10 week homeschool swimming P.E. program. Children of all swimming abilities will be able to participate in activities with other children of similar skills and ages in the swimming pool. On the first day children will be split up based swimming ability and age. During the two hour period each level group will receive a 30 minute group lesson from one of our nationally certified instructors, the rest is open recreational swimming time for the kids to interact, have fun and be active! Ages 5-17 Session I: September 12-November 14 (Wednesdays) Session II: September 13- November 15 (Thursdays) 11am-1pm Member $37.50, Non-Member $62.50 Cost includes drop in recreation swimming during the 2 hour class period for children who are registered.

Jr. Lifeguard Boot Camp

Come join us during Christmas break for a Jr. Guard bootcamp. Learn about what it takes to be a lifeguard, such as recognizing a drowning victim, how to assist someone who is struggling in the water and how to perform CPR and first aid. You must be able to swim 25 yards front crawl and 25 yards breaststroke as well as tread water for one minute and float for 30 seconds on your back. Upon completion each student will receive an American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certification. Ages 11-14 December 27-30 1-6pm Nampa Rec Center Member $45, Non-member $55

This American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course demonstrates how to teach Red Cross swimming lessons and set up lesson plans. If you have a desire to become a swimming instructor then this is the perfect class for you. Course prerequisites are 25 yards in the following 6 strokes: front crawl, backcrawl, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. If you are unsure whether you can complete the prerequisites, sign up for a skills evaluation. Refund request must be made 4 business days before start of class. American Red Cross Lifeguarding

This course is designed for experienced swimmers ages 15 and older that want to become Red Cross Lifeguards. Advanced skills are taught and information about lifesaving techniques will be presented. Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications are awarded upon successful completion of the course. Course prerequisites are: 300 yard swim using front crawl and breaststroke, retrieval of a 10 pound brick from 7ft of water and two minutes of treading water with no hands. Splash N’ Dash

We do the splashing… parents do the dashing! Parents, enjoy a Friday evening with each other while we actively entertain your children in the pools! For 4 hours our certified lifeguard and lesson staff will be in the water actively supervising, playing water games and having a blast swimming around. With those 4 hours enjoy dinner and a movie, get things caught up around the house, or just enjoy a relaxing night. Pre-registration is required. Children must be potty trained. This class is designed for women of all ages, sizes and athletic abilities and covers: situational awareness, releases, proper falling and recovery techniques, effective punches, strikes, and kicks, improved fitness and basic martial arts etiquette. Adult Basketball League

Nampa Recreation Department is offering an Adult Basketball League beginning in January. Each team will play eight games followed by a double elimination tournament. All games will consist of two 20-minute halves. Non-competitive leagues will play on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday evenings. Competitive leagues will play Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings. Teams may be moved divisions after they have played four games. Game times will be 7pm, 8pm or 9pm. League play will begin the week of January 7th, 2019. Enjoy a rush of competition. Teams will be encouraged to dress in fun/silly themes for the tournament to heighten the comradery and fun. Teams will compete to see who will be the last team standing as well as the best dressed team. Teams can have up to 10 players on their roster. All games will be played by 6 players/team with at least 2 girls/team to start each round. Each match will consist 3 rounds lasting for 5 min. apiece. Come play in our 3 on 3 tournament at the local Creech’s court, across from the Lakeview Water Park. The Nampa Rec Center is offering a bouldering competition. Over a 5-week period, climbers will come in each week and climb boulder problems that are set for the current week. Experience Paintball: Halloween

Looking for a close to home adrenaline rush and a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon? Come try your hand at paintball. This is a perfect small group program to get starter experience in Pyrrhic Paintball in Nampa will open its fields for us to come enjoy the afternoon at their 6-acre facility. Minidoka War Relocation Site is located in Jerome County and while in operation was the 7th largest city in Idaho. McCall Smoke Jumper Base

The McCall Smokejumper Base is one of only four Forest Service smoke jumper training bases in the United States.
