The Nampa Recreation Center is a 140,000 square foot indoor facility offering many recreation amenities to the public. Our mission is to provide quality programs and services, be responsive to the citizens, and play an active role in making Nampa a healthy community. To ensure the safety of our members and visitors, the Nampa Recreation Center will enforce all policies and procedures. Nutrition Counseling (45 minutes)
Meet with a Registered Dietitian for personalized nutrition recommendations which could include specific dietary changes, an eating plan that outlines portion sizes, appropriate meal composition and timing, food suggestions, food record keeping and meal planning. Nutrition for Healthy Aging
Ever wonder the changes that occur while you age and if those changes affect how and what you should eat? This class will teach you the nutritional challenges related to aging and how to combat those challenges. Take the initiative to live well and take charge of your health. Walking Club

fitness Weight Room Age Policy
The weight room is reserved for individuals 15 years and older. Youth 13 and 14 years old may obtain weight room privileges by completing the NRC’s Youth Strength Training Course. The NRC offers the ZONE for 10-14 years olds and functional training under certain parameters for those as young as 6 years old. Each youth participant must complete an orientation with a trainer and sign a “Youth Training Pledge and Consent” form along with their parent before engaging in training.
The ZONE (Youth Fitness Center)
The ZONE features 9 pieces of strength training equipment specifically engineered for youth ages 10-14. Stop by or call the weight room for more information or to schedule the required orientation. Member Free, Non-Member $15
Youth Strength Training Course
By successfully completing this 4-day course, youth ages 13 and 14 years will be granted use of the weight room including the free weights (some restrictions apply). This course will focus on safe, productive training and practical experience. Participants are required to attend the entire class and pass both a written and practical exam. Canoe Science Camps at Lake Lowell Park
This is a learning-focused STEM summer camp for 10-12 year olds interested in exploring the outdoors through science and recreation. Student participants collect water quality data using scientific instruments and engage in hands-on field science, experimental design, and hypothesis testing to learn about ecology and hydrology. They also develop recreational paddling and hiking skills through practice each day. Trained adult guides in each canoe will ensure safety and provide a fun and supportive learning environment. youth programs Kids in Action Day Camp-(KIA)
The Nampa Rec Center, Kids in Action day camp program is a great way to keep your kids active when school is out. Kids in Action gets your kids moving in a supervised, safe environment. KIA Summer Program begins June 1st. Kids can swim every day, go on field trips each month, and have a different theme each week to explore. They will do crafts, learn new sports, read books, play games, make friends, and spend the summer being active and having fun! In this intermediate level camp, you will have the opportunity to learn how to utilize sound to create a masterpiece. Using LIVE input from musical instruments, or simply a mic, you will try your hand at MIDI devices, mixing audio, and mastering tracks in a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) called FL Studio. Students will walk away with a song of their own making, along with a wide range of real-life music production skills. Students must bring their own instruments. Love games? Why not make your own? Jump into game development by creating your own version of the fastest-growing genre of games, the battle royale. Get ready for summer fun as your artist explores the great outdoors with a Young Rembrandts drawing class. This week our students will create desert-themed imagery. We’ll draw colorful illustrations of familiar desert critters, like the coyote and lizard. A detailed drawing of a Navajo blanket will challenge our students’ artistic sensibilities. Join us as we travel to the farthest reaches of the galaxy in our cartoon workshop. Practices and games will be held at Skyview Park. All players will receive a T-shirt, cap, certificate of participation and a medal. Players must meet the minimum age requirement on or before June 1, 2020. Programs begin with daily practices (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur for T-ball) until the season starts. Sponsored by Idaho Central Credit Union Ready! Set! Participate! in the Nampa Rec Department’s Kids Triathlon! This fun and challenging event is for kids ages 6-13 and will include swimming, biking and running. The 3-event race not only promotes fitness but improves your child’s self-confidence as they cross the finish line on their own. A great introduction to the sport, participants will swim in Lincoln Pool, followed by a safe bike and run on roads and grounds of Lions Park. All participants will receive an event bag and all finishers will receive a t-shirt. Kids Triathlon – Training Clinic

Get ready for the 8th Annual Kids Triathlon with a Pre-Tri clinic. Instruction will cover the basics for the swim portion of the event, transitions to the bike and running sections, as well as an overview of the biking, and running portion for each age category. Splash into the pools with our certified swim staff for the first half hour of each day as they work on efficient glides, kicks, front crawl and turns. Bring your bike for a safety inspection and bring your running shoes as we take a look at the entire racecourse. Each child must pass a particular level and granted a Red Cross Card before proceeding to the next level. Classes missed for vacation, injury, sickness or any other reason cannot be made up and are non-refundable. All age requirements must be followed unless instructor’s approval has been granted. It is not uncommon for a child to stay in a particular level for several sessions before successful completion.

NRC Pools
The Nampa Rec Center houses five swimming pools for your exercise and recreational enjoyment. Programs consist of swimming lessons, aquatic safety classes, water aerobics and kayaking. Enjoy access to the Lap Pool, Rec Pool, Deep Pool, and Kids Pool. Open swim times will offer recreational play in pools of different sizes and temperatures. Pools may have limited availability, ask a lifeguard for more info.
Adaptive Swim Lessons
Our Adaptive Swim Lessons are for children and adults with special needs that may not be met through traditional swim lessons. The goal of this program is to provide students with a structured aquatic experience designed to make them feel comfortable and safe while swimming. If interested, fill out an Adaptive Lesson Request form, available on the “ProgramsSwim Lessons� page on our website or at the NRC program desk.
Swim Idaho!
Swim Idaho! is a way for lap swimmers to chart their progress, set goals and conquer those goals. Swimming benchmarks are: 102 miles the distance of the Boise River, 425 miles the distance of the Salmon River, 779 miles the distance of the length and width of Idaho and finally 1,076 the distance of the mighty Snake River. T-shirts are awarded at each Idaho Bench Mark. Ask a Lifeguard how to start tracking your laps!

swimming W.S.I. Water Safety Instructor Course
This American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course demonstrates how to teach Red Cross swimming lessons and set up lesson plans. If you have a desire to become a swimming instructor, then this is the perfect class for you. Course prerequisites are 25 yards in the following 6 strokes: front crawl, backcrawl, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. If you are unsure whether you can complete the prerequisites, sign up for a skills evaluation. Refund request must be made 4 business days before start of class. Jr. Lifeguard Boot Camp
Learn what it takes to be a lifeguard, such as recognizing a drowning victim, how to assist someone who is struggling in the water and how to perform CPR and First Aid. Must be able to swim 25 yards front crawl, 25 yards breaststroke and tread water for one minute. Upon completion each student will receive an American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certification. Red Cross Lifeguard Training
This course is designed for experienced swimmers ages 15 and older that want to become Red Cross Lifeguards. Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications are awarded upon successful completion of the course. Course prerequisites are: 300 yard swim using front crawl and breaststroke, retrieval of a 10 pound brick from 7ft of water and two minutes of treading water with no hands. The beginning class covers the fundamentals of Tai Chi including: basic movements, breathing, meditation, warm-up form and an introduction on the Yang Style Short form. The intermediate class continues with movements, breathing, meditation, the Yang Short form, Yang Long form, fan form, sword form and an introduction to push hands (Tai Chi sparring). Traditions Adult Tang Soo Do
This class teaches self-confidence, builds self-esteem and improves balance, while establishing discipline and courtesy towards others. Participants will learn age appropriate self-defense and weapons training. These classes are non-violent; sparring is optional. Clothing and Equipment Beginning students should wear loose fitting clothing, such as sweat pants and a t-shirt. No jewelry or watches during class. A mouth guard when sparring and a groin protector cup (males) are recommended. Fall Ultimate Frisbee
Dust off your Frisbees and round up your team to make some frisbee highlight reels. Frisbees will be provided for the games. Teams will play 7 on 7 games on Saturdays starting on August 1 at Liberty Park in Nampa. Each team will play 8 games followed by a single elimination tournament. Indoor Pickleball Lessons

Nampa Parks and Recreation will be holding Summer Cornhole Tournaments with Nampa Main Street Association on their Fourth Friday events. Pre-registration deadline will be day of the event by 12:00pm. Get Golf Ready is an opportunity for adults to learn the game of golf in a fun and relaxed environment. The Nampa Senior Center, adjoining the Nampa Recreation Center’s east side is a wonderful place for seniors to enjoy an assortment of fun activities. Lunch is served daily Monday through Friday at 12:00 noon. The public is welcome! You do not need to be a senior to enjoy our lunches and/or other activities. Fees: 60yrs+, $5 suggested donation; under 60yrs $6 charge; and 12yr and under $3. Take out meals are available for $6 but must be ordered before noon.
