The Harward Recreation Center is a 140,000 square foot indoor facility offering many recreation amenities to the public. Our mission is to provide quality programs and services, be responsive to the citizens, and play an active role in making Nampa a healthy community.
To ensure the safety of our members and visitors, the Harward Recreation Center will enforce all policies and procedures. Adaptive Services
The Nampa Parks and Rec Department provides accommodations for youth with disabilities to participate in any recreation program. For more information or to setup assistance in advance, please contact the Harward Recreation Center.

Weight Room Age Policy
The weight room is reserved for individuals 15 years and older. Youth 13 and 14 years old may obtain weight room privileges by completing the HRC’s Youth Strength Training Course. The HRC offers the ZONE for 10-14 years olds and functional training under certain parameters for those as young as 6 years old. Each youth participant must complete an orientation with a trainer and sign a “Youth Training Pledge and Consent” form along with their parent before engaging in training.
The ZONE (Youth Fitness Center)
The ZONE features 9 pieces of strength training equipment specifically engineered for youth ages 10-14. Stop by or call the weight room for more information or to schedule the required orientation. Member Free, Non-Member $16
Youth Strength Training Course
By successfully completing this 4-day course, youth ages 13 and 14 years will be granted use of the weight room including the free weights (some restrictions apply). This course will focus on safe, productive training and practical experience. Participants are required to attend the entire class and pass both a written and practical exam. Classes are ongoing and require pre-registration at the Program Desk.

Kids in Action Day Camp-(KIA)
The Harward Rec Center Kids in Action Day camp program is a great way to keep your kids active when school is out. Kids in Action gets your kids moving in a supervised, safe environment. Kindergarten through fifth graders stay actively engaged before and after school, or full day care is available according to the Nampa schools’ schedule, please see Day Camp calendar. Transportation is included to and from any Nampa public school, with additional $1 charge. No commitment, you only pay for the days you register for and credits are issued when your plans change, if you call by 7pm the day before. A $5 late fee will be charged if your child has not been paid for by the end of the day of attendance. Call 208-468-5858 for more information or to set up a tour to see for yourself. KIA will be closed December 26.

ABRAKADOODLE – Kids on Canvas®
A unique art program that teaches children about painting on a variety of canvas surfaces with acrylics. Canvas paper, canvas board and stretched canvas will be used. Master artists, such as Renoir, Laurel Burch and Sam Francis will be introduced, along with vocabulary and technique.

E-Sports: Tournaments
Join us for our E-Sports (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros Ultimate) Nintendo Switch tournaments series. Although competitive in nature, this tournament series is meant to be fun for all ages and will no doubt have many levels of skill present. Tournaments will be double elimination with pool play to determine seeding. Winner will receive a prize.

SPIKE LEGO & Donuts!
LEGO bricks and donuts? Life doesn’t get any better! Enjoy a provided donut while we check out this new and fun way to combine your love of LEGO with easy coding. SPIKE has colorful LEGO building elements, easy-to-use hardware, and an intuitive drag-and-drop coding language based on Scratch. SPIKE Prime will engage kiddos through playful learning activities like LEGO Break Dancer, Robotic Arm or Racing Car. These activities and more will having kids thinking critically and solving complex problems, regardless of their learning level.

LEGO Animation
Come create and build a mini movie set out of LEGO bricks, minifigures and anything else to help create your own animated movie! Children will use technology to make that perfect LEGO animated movie with complete editing capabilities, effects, music, and narration all through iMovie and Stop Motion. Children will be paired up in this class so that filming and editing can all be done through timely and efficient teamwork. All movies will be posted to a private YouTube channel so that friends and family will be able to view as well.

The Big Dill Pickleball Spring Break Camp
The world’s fastest-growing sport is now a spring break camp your kids will love. Pickleball has been described as a combination of tennis, badminton and ping pong. Nampa Youth Basketball
Sponsored by the Nampa Recreation Department offered in cooperation with the Nampa School District. This program will provide an opportunity for youth to learn basic skills and teamwork in a recreational atmosphere. Children register on a team coached by parent volunteers. Each week, teams will have two 1-hour practices (Kindergarten and 1st Grade teams will have one 45-minute practice). Games are played on Saturdays. Practices and games are held at Nampa School District gyms.

WINGS Gymnastics
Gymnastics is a great physical foundation for kids of all ages that helps develop strength, coordination, physical fitness, and self-esteem. It will help prepare children for participation in all kinds of sports. Our instructors will help guide children in a positive atmosphere that helps develop their skills and self-confidence. Each class is designed to teach progressions safely and allows the child to move at their own pace.
For a current class schedule or to register, visit the Rec Center website or stop by the Program Desk. A $10 additional fee will be charged for students who register on or after the 1st of the month. Monthly tuition is due by the 20th of the prior month to guarantee a place in the following month’s class. New student tuition will be prorated. Instructors cannot accept payment. New students receive 50% off their first month!

Traditions Tang Soo Do
This class teaches self-confidence, builds self-esteem, and improves balance, while establishing discipline and courtesy towards others. Participants will learn age-appropriate self-defense and weapons training. These classes are non-violent; sparring is optional.

Spring Break Tennis Camp
For the 6-9 year olds, come learn the basic concepts and strokes. The focus is on having fun with lots of games and enjoyable drills. The 9-14 year olds will focus on basics of all the strokes. Drills and games will be based on the stroke they learn that day. Classes will take place on multiple courts with instruction provided by Columbia Head Coach Lee Haskill.

Swim Idaho!
Swim Idaho! is a way for lap swimmers to chart their progress, set goals and conquer those goals. Swimming benchmarks are: 102 miles-the distance of the Boise River, 425 milesthe distance of the Salmon River, 779 miles-the distance of the length and width of Idaho and finally 1,076 milesthe distance of the mighty Snake River. American Red Cross Lifeguard Recertification
Meet the requirement to maintain your current certification. Participants will be refreshed in their lifesaving, CPR/AED, and first aid skills, and provided instruction in the most up-to-date skills and techniques. Red Cross no longer offers challenge courses. Children of all swimming abilities will be able to participate in activities with other children of similar skills and ages in the swimming pool. If you have a desire to become a swimming instructor this is the perfect class for you. This course demonstrates how to teach American Red Cross swimming lessons and set up lesson plans. Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Which Class?
• Each child must pass a particular level and granted a Red Cross Card before proceeding to the next level.
• All age requirements must be followed unless instructor’s approval has been granted.
• It is not uncommon for a child to stay in a particular level for several sessions before successful completion.
• Classes missed for vacation, injury, sickness or any other reason cannot be made up and are nonrefundable.
Skills Evaluation
Unsure of what level your child should be placed in? Sign your child up for a 10-minute skills evaluation with a certified instructor who will recommend an appropriate level. Member Free, Non-Member $3
This course is designed for experienced swimmers ages 15 and older that want to become Red Cross Lifeguards. Traditions Tang Soo Do
This class teaches self-confidence, builds self-esteem, and improves balance, while establishing discipline and courtesy towards others. Participants will learn ageappropriate self-defense and weapons training. Please note that this class can be intense at times due to the nature of the activity and requires a relatively high level of focus and self-discipline. These classes are non-violent; sparring is optional.

Minidoka National Historic Site
Minidoka War Relocation Site is in Jerome County, during its operation it was the 7th largest city in Idaho. Foot Golf
Come out to Ridgecrest Golf Club to experience the hybrid of golf and soccer-Foot Golf. The game is played with a soccer ball on the golf course and the goal is to kick it down the course in as few kicks as possible. The game is played with a regulation soccer ball and holes are established on the course so the ball can sink into the hole. Come out and experience the game! Soccer cleats are not allowed.

Park Facilities
Reservations for park facilities are taken up to one year in advance on a first come, first-served basis and receive priority over drop-in groups. Rates are based on an 11am-4pm or 4:30pmDark time-block and include power & dumpster fees (Rose Garden Shelter and Amphitheater time-blocks are 9am-3pm or 4pm-Dark).

Birthday Party Room at Harward Recreation Center
We’ll provide a designated space for 2 hours and a balloon bouquet! Enjoy a variety of activities in our facility for the entire day at a discounted rate. $70 room rental ($25 each additional hour)

After Hours at Harward Recreation Center
$1,000 for 4 hours ($125 each additional hour)

Senior Center Dining Hall
The Nampa Senior Center Main Dining Hall seats up to 150 people. Space available Saturdays between 8am-7pm and Sundays between 11am-6pm. Call the Rec Center for additional details and to secure your date. $300 for 4 hours ($45 each additional hour)
Kohlerlawn Cemetery
Kohlerlawn Cemetery is publicly owned and operated by the City of Nampa. The Cemetery is open to visitors each day beginning at dawn and closes each evening at dusk. For burial space fees, opening and closing prices, decoration guidelines and monument setting policies, please visit our website.
Right of Way Tree Planting
This program provides City of Nampa residents help with planting appropriate trees in the Right of Way areas of their property. Two periods each year, spring and fall, provide citizens with an opportunity to participate in this program. Recycling
Christmas trees may be dropped o at Kohlerlawn Cemetery Trees must be free of stands, lights and all ornamentation. Trees will be turned into mulch and used throughout our parks and trails.

Pathways
The City offers miles of existing pathways and trails and has developed a bike and pedestrian master plan that projects for more pathways and trails in the future. Nampa citizens and visitors will enjoy running, walking, in-line skating or bicycling on the Nampa Pathway System. For maps, etiquette and more, visit our website.
