nampa rec center The Nampa Recreation Center is a 140,000 square foot indoor facility offering many recreation amenities to the public. Our mission is to provide quality programs and services, be responsive to the citizens, and play an active role in making Nampa a healthy community. To ensure the safety of our members and visitors, the Nampa Recreation Center will enforce all policies and procedures. Monthly Payment Option Enjoy the convenience of on-going monthly payment drafts directly from your debit or credit account. A minimum 12 month payment contract agreement is required and a one-time $40 activation fee applies. *To be eligible for a NRC family or senior couple membership the primary member and spouse must be legally married as recognized by the State of Idaho. In addition, only children considered legal dependents ages 18 and under may be included on a family membership. Provisions may be made to place dependent children ages 19 through 21 on a family membership. See the NRC Membership Eligibility policy for details. The NRC may ask for proof of legal dependency or a marriage certificate from anyone registering for a family or senior couple membership.

Meet with a Registered Dietitian for personalized nutrition recommendations which could include specific dietary changes, an eating plan that outlines portion sizes, appropriate meal composition and timing, food suggestions, food record keeping and meal planning. Counseling is offered once a month with a variety of dates and times available. Register at the program desk. fitness Weight Room Age Policy

The weight room is reserved for individuals 15 years and older. Youth 13 and 14 years old may obtain weight room privileges by completing the NRC’s Youth Strength Training Course. The NRC offers the ZONE for 10-14 years olds and functional training under certain parameters for those as young as 6 years old. Each youth participant must complete an orientation with a trainer and sign a “Youth Training Pledge and Consent” form along with their parent before engaging in training.

The ZONE (Youth Fitness Center)

The ZONE features 9 pieces of strength training equipment specifically engineered for youth ages 10-14. Stop by or call the weight room for more information or to schedule the required orientation. Member Free, Non-Member $15

Youth Strength Training Course

By successfully completing this 4-day course, youth ages 13 and 14 years will be granted use of the weight room including the free weights (some restrictions apply). This course will focus on safe, productive training and practical experience. Participants are required to attend the entire class and pass both a written and practical exam. Classes are ongoing and require preregistration at the Program Desk. Member $16, Non-Member $55

Trainers are available to assist any member needing special assistance due to physical limitations. To request assistance, talk with a trainer.

Injury Screening

Provided by St. Alphonsus Physical Therapy. Stop by the weight room desk to arrange a 15-minute injury assessment or sign up for one of our ongoing times. Screenings will include recommendations for injury treatment and prevention. Balance & Fall Prevention Class

youth programs Kids in Action Day Camp-(KIA)

The Nampa Rec Center, Kids in Action day camp program is a great way to keep your kids active when school is out. Kids in Action gets your kids moving in a supervised, safe environment. KIA Summer Program begins June 1st. Kids can swim every day, and have a different theme each week to explore. They will do crafts, learn new sports, read books, play games, make friends, and spend the summer being active and having fun! These youth soccer classes are designed to encourage a sense of empowerment and self confidence in kids using a variety of fun soccer enriched games. Providing your child with a variety of positive experiences to help develop self-esteem and prepare them for kindergarten. Teacher bio can be found on our website on the “Staff Directory” page. Registration for new students for the 2021-2022 school year begins Friday, May 7 at 8am.

Tuition

Monthly tuition is due by the 1st of each month. Payment can be taken at the program desk. A late fee will be assessed for payments received after the 5th of the month. Your child will be dropped from the class if your account reaches 2 months outstanding.

Dig it! Volleyball Camp

This camp is designed for athletes with minimal volleyball experience but is diverse enough to challenge players who have participated in volleyball camps and leagues. Big Blocks Volleyball Camp

This camp is designed for those ready to elevate their game and help athletes prepare for volleyball season. Players with a background in playing school and/or club volleyball will feel right at home. This camp will challenge athletes to internalize the skills needed to play at a high level, as well as how to use those skills in the ideal game situations. Players will be given specific feedback for what to improve and how to enhance their skills for the upcoming volleyball season. Shooting Stars Basketball

Boys and girls in kindergarten and first grade will have fun playing basketball that emphasizes learning skills and sports values rather than pure competition. Each child is placed on a team coached by a parent volunteer. Teams will have one 45-minute practice and one game per week. Practices begin July 12. Games will begin July 15. NNU Basketball Camp

The Nampa Rec Center and NNU have teamed up to bring you this three day camp for boys and girls. Fun is emphasized, along with teaching the fundamental aspects of basketball and skill development. Participants will receive a camp T-shirt. Camp will be instructed by NNU coaches and players. Youth Tennis 101

Youth Tennis 101 teaches the basic concepts and strokes of the game quickly and easily in a fun, family-friendly, active & encouraging group environment. Classes will take place on multiple courts with instruction provided by Skyview Head Coach Lee Haskill. This program specializes in junior golf instruction for both young men and women of all abilities. The clinics will be incredibly fun so that self motivation and participation are assured. Clubs provided if needed. Instruction by a PGA Professional.

Summer Cross Country Training

This program is designed to help cross country runners grades 6-12 prepare for the upcoming season. The program will focus on building a base with age appropriate work outs including running and strength training. We will also discuss nutrition, goal setting, and injury prevention. Canoe Science Camps at Lake Lowell Park

This is a learning-focused STEM summer camp for 10-12-year olds interested in exploring the outdoors through science and recreation. Student participants collect water quality data using scientific instruments and engage in hands-on field science, experimental design, and hypothesis testing to learn about ecology and hydrology. They also develop recreational paddling and hiking skills through practice each day. Trained adult guides in each canoe will ensure safety and provide a fun and supportive learning environment. Please pack a sack lunch. Covid-19 precautions including, but not limited to, social distancing and mask wearing will be required for all camp staff and participants. Basic Archery: Students will learn basic technique and form using a compound bow. Equipment, safety and elements of shooting will be covered. Advanced Archery: Class will cover equipment, safety and advanced form and technique using a compound bow. All classes held at Nampa Bow Chiefs, 222 West Railroad. Equipment is provided. This class teaches self-confidence, builds self-esteem and improves balance, while establishing discipline and courtesy towards others. Participants will learn age appropriate self-defense and weapons training. These classes are non-violent; sparring is optional.

A parent-child interactive class! The instructor will show parents how to guide their child through various locomotive development obstacles, while teaching the fundamentals of gymnastics. The focus is on developing coordination, agility, muscle strength, flexibility, balance and motor skills in a variety of creative activities which helps prepare kids for the Minigym or Boys Level class. Member $44/month Non-Member $51/month

youth sports 9th Annual Kids Triathlon

Sponsored by Idaho Central Credit Union Ready! Set! Participate! in the Nampa Rec Department’s Kids Triathlon! This fun and challenging event is for kids ages 6-13 and will include swimming, biking and running. The 3-event race not only promotes fitness but improves your child’s self-confidence as they cross the finish line on their own. A great introduction to the sport, participants will swim in Lincoln Pool, followed by a safe bike and run on roads and grounds of Lions Park. All participants will receive an event bag and all finishers will receive a t-shirt. Kids Triathlon – Training Clinic

Get ready for the 9th Annual Kids Triathlon with a Pre-Tri clinic. Instruction will cover the basics for the swim portion of the event, transitions to the bike and running sections, as well as an overview of the biking, and running portion for each age category. Splash into the pools with our certified swim staff for the first half hour of each day as they work on efficient glides, kicks, front crawl and turns. Swimming and Axe Throwing Day Camp

Join us for a 3 day swimming and axe throwing camp. Red Cross Lifeguard Training

The Nampa Rec Center houses five swimming pools for your exercise and recreational enjoyment. Programs consist of swimming lessons, aquatic safety classes, water aerobics and kayaking. Enjoy access to the Lap Pool, Rec Pool, Deep Pool, and Kids Pool. Open swim times will offer recreational play in pools of different sizes and temperatures. Pools may have limited availability, ask a lifeguard for more info.

W.S.I. Water Safety Instructor Course

This American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course demonstrates how to teach Red Cross swimming lessons and set up lesson plans. If you have a desire to become a swimming instructor, then this is the perfect class for you. Course prerequisites are 25 yards in the following 6 strokes: front crawl, backcrawl, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. If you are unsure whether you can complete the prerequisites, sign up for a skills evaluation. Refund request must be made 4 business days before start of class. Swim Idaho! is a way for lap swimmers to chart their progress, set goals and conquer those goals. Swimming benchmarks are: 102 miles the distance of the Boise River, 425 miles the distance of the Salmon River, 779 miles the distance of the length and width of Idaho and finally 1,076 the distance of the mighty Snake River. Jr. Lifeguard Boot Camp

Learn what it takes to be a lifeguard, such as recognizing a drowning victim, how to assist someone who is struggling in the water and how to perform CPR and First Aid. Must be able to swim 25 yards front crawl, 25 yards breaststroke and tread water for one minute. Upon completion each student will receive an American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certification. Join us this summer for one of our Mario Kart Deluxe 8 and Super Smash Bros Ultimate Nintendo Switch tournament series. Although competitive in nature, this tournament series is meant to be fun for all ages and will no doubt have many levels of skill present. Tournaments will be double elimination with pool play to determine seeding. Mario Kart will be 150cc, Smart Steering and Auto Acceleration will be turned off, and no CPU’s. Super Smash Bro’s Ultimate will have a 7-minute time limit with 3 stocks per game. Rappelling Class

This class teaches self-confidence, builds self-esteem and improves balance, while establishing discipline and courtesy towards others. Participants will learn age appropriate self-defense and weapons training. These classes are non-violent; sparring is optional. A mouth guard when sparring and a groin protector cup (males) are recommended. Come out to Ridgecrest Golf Club to experience the new hybrid of golf and soccer-Foot Golf. The game is played with a soccer ball on the golf course and the goal is to kick it down the course in as few kicks as possible. The game is played with a regulation soccer ball and new holes are established on the course so the ball can sink into the hole. Come out and experience the game! Soccer cleats are not allowed. Ridgecrest Golf Club

Ridgecrest Golf Club provides a beautiful clubhouse that is the perfect setting for a multitude of events including weddings, receptions, parties, or reunions. Catering is available upon request. For more information and pricing call 208-468-5888.

Kohlerlawn Cemetery

Kohlerlawn Cemetery is publicly owned and operated by the City of Nampa. The Cemetery is open to visitors each day beginning at dawn and closes each evening at dusk. Birthday Party Room at NRC

We’ll provide a designated space for 2 hours, personalized birthday banner and balloon bouquet! Enjoy a variety of activities in our facility for the entire day at a discounted rate. $45 room rental ($17 each additional hour) Call the Rec Center to reserve the room.

Senior Center Dining Hall

The Nampa Senior Center Main Dining Hall seats up to 150 people. Space available Saturdays between 8am-7pm and Sundays between 11am-6pm. Call the Rec Center for additional details and to secure your date. $195 for 4 hours ($30 each additional hour)

Pool Reservations at Lakeview or Lincoln Pool

Lakeview Waterpark and Lincoln Pool offer private pool rentals Saturday and Sunday 10am-12:15pm and 7:15pm-8:45pm. One hour minimum - $120 per hour – each additional half hour $60. Up to 100 people. Book online 3 weeks in advance – if less than that please call for availability and scheduling 208-468-5864.
