Monthly Payment Option Enjoy the convenience of on-going monthly payment drafts directly from your debit or credit account. A minimum 12 month payment contract agreement is required and a one-time $40 activation fee applies. *To be eligible for a NRC family or senior couple membership the primary member and spouse must be legally married as recognized by the State of Idaho. In addition, only children considered legal dependents ages 18 and under may be included on a family membership. Provisions may be made to place dependent children ages 19 through 21 on a family membership. See the NRC Membership Eligibility policy for details. The NRC may ask for proof of legal dependency or a marriage certificate from anyone registering for a family or senior couple membership.

Meet with a Registered Dietitian for personalized nutrition recommendations which could include specific dietary changes, an eating plan that outlines portion sizes, appropriate meal composition and timing, food suggestions, food record keeping and meal planning. Nutrition Mini - Gluten-Free Eating

Metabolic Testing

Learn how many calories your body burns in a day to establish a calorie budget, decrease the frequencies of plateaus, and improve your overall fitness with our highly accurate MedGemTM (an indirect calorimeter that measures VO2 and determines Resting Metabolic Rate). For people who make the decision to eat gluten free as a matter of dietary choice and not a medical necessity, there are many important considerations. This class will discuss these as well as give tips and tricks on gluten free shopping, dining, cooking, and baking. Gluten free samples provided. fitness Weight Room Age Policy

The weight room is reserved for individuals 15 years and older. Youth 13 and 14 years old may obtain weight room privileges by completing the NRC’s Youth Strength Training Course. The NRC offers the ZONE for 10-14 years olds and functional training under certain parameters for those as young as 6 years old. Each youth participant must complete an orientation with a trainer and sign a “Youth Training Pledge and Consent” form along with their parent before engaging in training.

The ZONE (Youth Fitness Center)

The ZONE features strength training equipment specifically engineered for youth ages 10-14. Stop by or call the weight room for more information or to schedule an orientation. Member Free, Non-Member $15

Youth Strength Training Course

By successfully completing this 11-hour course, youth ages 13 and 14 years will be granted use of the weight room. This course will focus on safe, productive training and practical experience. Classes are ongoing and require preregistration at the Program Desk. Member $16, Non-Member $55

This class will help increase mobility and independence by improving lower body strength, endurance, flexibility and bone mass, which can help reduce the risk of falling. Strength Training for Women

This six-week course will cover a variety of equipment and free weights helping you to feel more comfortable in the weight room. Walking Club

Members earn a free t-shirt by walking or running at the Nampa Recreation Center! Sign up at the weight room desk and chart your progress each day on the log sheet provided. Earn a t-shirt for 300, 1000 and 2000 miles. Nampa Rec Center

youth programs Kids in Action Day Camp-(KIA)

The Nampa Rec Center, Kids in Action day camp program is a great way to keep your kids active when school is out. Kids in Action gets your kids moving in a supervised, safe environment. KIA Summer Program begins June 10. Kids can swim every day, go on field trips each month, and have a different theme each week to explore. They will do crafts, learn new sports, read books, play games, make friends, and spend the summer being active and having fun! Call 468-5858 for more information or to set up a tour to see for yourself. Lunch

Parents must provide their children with a lunch for the Full-Day program. Parents may choose to purchase a lunch through the Rec Center. Meal is provided by either Blimpies, Del Taco or Pizza Hut. Lunches must be ordered by 10am. Cost is $3/lunch, $13/5-punch card or $25/10-punch card. Children must bring a lunch on field trip days.

Lock In for Kids

Sponsored by Domino’s Pizza Stay locked in at the Nampa Rec Center all night! Kids will enjoy movies, swimming, games and a pizza party. A male and female supervisor will be with the children all night. Children should bring a sleeping bag, swim suit, towel and clothes to sleep in. Lock In Guidelines

Providing your child with a variety of positive experiences to help develop self-esteem and prepare them for kindergarten. Teacher bio can be found on our website on the “Staff Directory� page. Registration for new students for the 2019-2020 school year begins Friday, May 3rd at 8am.

Tuition

Monthly tuition is due by the 1st of each month. Payment can be taken at the program desk. A late fee will be assessed for payments received after the 5th of the month. Your child will be dropped from the class if your account reaches 2 months outstanding.

American Red Cross Babysitter Training

In this one-day class learn information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children. Course includes handbook, Emergency Reference Guide and CD with fun activities and support resources. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Red Cross Babysitter Training Certification card. Please bring a sack lunch. Beakerz Science Made Fun!

Beakerz science classes offer handson, experiment-based science lessons covering topics from chemical reactions and dinosaurs to magnets and rockets! Students are introduced to the topic of the day, led through activities and experiments on that topic and give the lesson and activity to do again at home with family to reinforce the concepts! We teach drawing with a see-touchdo method that all kids can learn from and love! Each session has a different theme this summer. We know children already love to draw – we just take their love a little further by giving them a solid foundation that will turn doodles into confidence-boosting artistic achievements. These classes are a mixture of drawing and cartooning, so we guarantee that your artists will have a great time in every class. All materials provided. World of Dinosaurs Workshop

Travel back in time with us as we celebrate dinosaurs. This is a pastel workshop, so students will be working with this medium in every class. Draw in realistic, graphic, and cartoon styles so there is something for all of your dinosaur fans out there. All materials provided. Wild Or Tame? Animals Workshop

We’ll learn how to draw animals of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Mixing both realistic images and exaggerated cartoon characters. Sponsored by Pepsi This recreation program is designed to promote participation, development of fundamental skills and fun in a mildly-competitive environment. Practices and games will be held at Skyview Park. All players will receive a T-shirt, cap, certificate of participation and a medal. Players must meet the minimum age requirement on or before June 3, 2019. Programs begin with daily practices (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur for T-ball) until the season starts. Once the season begins, games will be played 2-3 days a week, with no further practices scheduled. Volunteer coaches are always needed!

Children will learn basic baseball and softball skills such as throwing, catching and batting, in a fun and supportive environment. Shooting Stars Basketball

Boys and girls in kindergarten and first grade will have fun playing basketball that emphasizes learning skills and sports values rather than pure competition. Each child is placed on a team coached by a parent volunteer. Teams will have one 45-minute practice and one game per week. Practices begin July 8. Games will begin July 11. Sponsored by Idaho Central Credit Union Ready! Set! Participate! in the Nampa Rec Department’s Kids Triathlon! This fun and challenging event is for kids ages 6-13 and will include swimming, biking and running. The 3-event race not only promotes fitness but improves your child’s self-confidence as they cross the finish line on their own. A great introduction to the sport, participants will swim in Lincoln Pool, followed by a safe bike and run on roads and grounds of Lions Park. All participants will receive an event bag and all finishers will receive a t-shirt. The Nampa Rec Center houses five swimming pools for your exercise and recreational enjoyment. Programs consist of swimming lessons, aquatic safety classes, water aerobics and kayaking. Enjoy access to the Lap Pool, Rec Pool, Deep Pool, and Kids Pool. Open swim times will offer recreational play in pools of different sizes and temperatures. Pools may have limited availability, ask a lifeguard for more info.

Adaptive Swim Lessons

Our Adaptive Swim Lessons are for children and adults with special needs that may not be met through traditional swim lessons. The goal of this program is to provide students with a structured aquatic experience designed to make them feel comfortable and safe while swimming. If interested, fill out an Adaptive Lesson Request form, available on the “ProgramsSwim Lessons” page on our website or at the NRC program desk.

Swim Idaho!

Swim Idaho! is a way for lap swimmers to chart their progress, set goals and conquer those goals. Swimming benchmarks are: 102 miles the distance of the Boise River, 425 miles the distance of the Salmon River, 779 miles the distance of the length and width of Idaho and finally 1,076 the distance of the mighty Snake River. T-shirts are awarded at each Idaho Bench Mark. Ask a Lifeguard how to start tracking your laps!

swimming W.S.I. Water Safety Instructor Course

Jr. Lifeguard Boot Camp

Learn what it takes to be a lifeguard, such as recognizing a drowning victim, how to assist someone who is struggling in the water and how to perform CPR and First Aid. Must be able to swim 25 yards front crawl, 25 yards breaststroke and tread water for one minute. Upon completion each student will receive an American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certification. Ages 11-14 June 6-8 9am-2pm Lincoln Pool $55

This American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course demonstrates how to teach Red Cross swimming lessons and set up lesson plans. If you have a desire to become a swimming instructor, then this is the perfect class for you. Course prerequisites are 25 yards in the following 6 strokes: front crawl, backcrawl, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. Red Cross Lifeguard Training

This course is designed for experienced swimmers ages 15 and older that want to become Red Cross Lifeguards. Course prerequisites are: 300 yard swim using front crawl and breaststroke, retrieval of a 10 pound brick from 7ft of water and two minutes of treading water with no hands. Join Nampa Parks and Rec for this outdoor volleyball league. Games will be played in a 4 on 4 format at the Nampa Rec Center’s back lawn. Traditions Adult Tang Soo Do

This class teaches self-confidence, builds self-esteem and improves balance, while establishing discipline and courtesy towards others. Participants will learn age appropriate self-defense and weapons training. These classes are non-violent; sparring is optional. Clothing and Equipment Beginning students should wear loose fitting clothing, such as sweat pants and a t-shirt. No jewelry or watches during class. A mouth guard when sparring and a groin protector cup (males) are recommended. The James Castle House & Collection

James Castle began drawing as a boy and used whatever he could find – books, newspapers, saliva and soot. We will visit his home as well as the James Castle Collection, both in Boise. The Bishops’ House was built in 1893 and housed the family of the Episcopal Bishop of Idaho. The house, originally located at 2nd and Idaho Street, was scheduled for demolition in 1976 and was moved to its current location on Old Penitentiary Road. Join us for a tour of this historic home. MK Nature Center

Wildlife educators will instruct participants about Idaho wildlife and the importance of the habitat in a short classroom session coupled with a guided walk along the nature center path that follows a manmade stream. Weiser Fiddle Festival

Historic Silver City & Murphy Museum

The Nampa Senior Center, adjoining the Nampa Recreation Center’s east side, is a wonderful place for seniors to enjoy an assortment of fun activities. Dances, card games, and educational workshops are all available! See monthly activity schedules at www. nampareccenter.org. Volunteers are always welcome! Contact the Senior Center at 208467-7266 for details.

Lunch

Daily lunch is served Monday through Friday at 12:00 noon. The public is welcome! You do not need to be a senior to enjoy our lunches and/or other activities. Fees: 60yr+, $5 suggested donation; under 60yrs $6 charge; and 12yr and under, $3. Take out meals are available for $6 but must be ordered before noon. Transportation to and from the Senior Center is available within its service area. Contact the Senior Center for details. Monthly menus are available online at www.nampareccenter.org

Senior Center Dining Hall

Ridgecrest Golf Club
