Mayor’s Golf Tournament
The City of Nampa Mayor’s Golf Tournament was established to provide a fun event while giving opportunity to give back to youth golfers in Nampa. Each year this event draws people from all over the treasure valley to play golf and give to a great cause. All proceeds benefit college scholarships for youth golfers in Nampa and junior golf at Centennial and Ridgecrest Golf Courses. Hey kids, in your breaks between swimming and basketball, check out the Youth Activity Center or “YAC� at the Nampa Rec Center. Designed for 6 to 12 year olds to hang out with their peers and engage in fun games in a supervised environment. The YAC features X-Box Kinect, board games, foosball, air hockey, craft projects and other fun activities. NRC Play Center
Supervised childcare while you workout! Available on a first come, first-served basis, the NRC Play Center provides supervised childcare for children 5 and under by Pediatric CPR and First Aid certified staff. Play Center services are for parents or legal guardians while present in the Rec Center. Monday-Saturday 8:45am-1:30pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday 4-8:15pm Tuesday, Thursday 4-9:15pm $2.50 per child/hour (2hr limit/day) Punch Passes are available.

child care & education Kids in Action Day Camp-(KIA)
The Nampa Rec Center, Kids in Action day camp program is a great way to keep your kids active when school is out. Kids in Action gets your kids moving in a supervised, safe environment. Kindergarten through fifth graders stay actively engaged before and after school, or full day care is available too! Transportation is included to and from any Nampa public school with additional $2 charge. No commitment, you only pay for the days your child attends and credits are issued when your plans change. A key to achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle includes good nutrition. Power Plate®
The Power Plate® oscillating in all three planes creates instability and vibration in the body. This vibration activates muscle contractions between 25-50 times per second, involving 95% of the muscle fiber. Due to the increase of muscle contractions this type of training can generate more force with ease, enhancing overall performance, improving circulation, reducing soreness, and increasing muscle strength, flexibility and bone density. fitness Weight Room Age Policy
The weight room is reserved for individuals 15 years and older. Youth 13 and 14 years old may obtain weight room privileges by completing the NRC’s Youth Strength Training Course. The NRC offers the ZONE for 10-14 years olds and functional training under certain parameters for those as young as 6 years old. Each youth participant must complete an orientation with a trainer and sign a “Youth Training Pledge and Consent” form along with their parent before engaging in training.

Endurance Athlete Training Rides (Base to Pre-Season)
Taught by Tim Eylar, certified personal trainer and Category 3 cyclist, these intense training rides will help endurance athletes achieve improved ability to work at a higher intensity for a longer duration, improving lactate threshold. Each ride will consist of an extended warm up, high intensity intervals, and recovery. Participants will learn effective use of a heart rate monitor as a training tool, proper fuel for training, signs of over-training, as well as pedal stroke and cycle techniques.

Whether you are new to the exciting world of rock climbing or a seasoned pro, the Rec Center rock walls have something for everyone. Come climb with us; you’ll have fun and get fit at the same time.

The wall includes nearly 1400 square feet of climbing surface and offers expanded bouldering climbing for all ability levels. The bouldering wall is for all ages and is open during normal Rec Center hours. It is located in the weight room area, next to the racquetball courts.

Cabin Fever Crank

The Nampa Rec Center houses five swimming pools for your exercise and recreational enjoyment. Programs consist of swimming lessons, aquatic safety classes, water aerobics and kayaking. Enjoy access to the Lap Pool, Rec Pool, Deep Pool, and Kids Pool. Open swim times will offer recreational play in pools of different sizes and temperatures. Pools may have limited availability, ask lifeguards for more info.

Adult Swim Club - Drop in Fitness opportunity
Adult Swim Club is a coached fitness program designed for intermediate swimmers to advanced swimmers looking for quality workouts, technique instruction and stroke improvement. Red Cross Lifeguard Training
This course is designed for experienced swimmers ages 15 and older that want to become Red Cross Lifeguards. Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications are awarded upon successful completion of the course. Course prerequisites are: 300 yard swim using front crawl and breaststroke, retrieval of a 10 pound brick from 7ft of water and two minutes of treading water with no hands. Homeschool Swimming
The Nampa Recreation Center is proud to offer a fun and energetic homeschool swimming P.E. program. Children of all swimming abilities will be able to participate in activities with other children of similar skills and ages. On the first day children will be split up based on swimming ability and age. During the two hour period each level group will receive a 30 minute group lesson from one of our nationally certified instructors, the rest is open recreational swimming time for the kids to interact, have fun and be active! Splash N’ Dash
We do the splashing…parents do the dashing! Parents, enjoy a Friday evening while we entertain your children in the pools! swimming W.S.I. Water Safety Instructor Course
This American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course demonstrates how to teach Red Cross swimming lessons and set up lesson plans. If you have a desire to become a swimming instructor then this is the perfect class for you. Course prerequisites are 25 yards in the following 6 strokes: front crawl, backcrawl, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. Junior Swimming Instructor
Come join our amazing team as an Aquatic Volunteer by participating in our Junior Swimming Instructor course! The course is designed to teach you the fundamentals of swimming instruction by building a foundation of knowledge, attitudes, and skills to assist with our learnto-swim program. Graduates of the program will be eligible to volunteer for service learning hours by assisting with our swimming lesson program. American Red Cross Lifeguard Recertification

New 2012 American Red Cross requirements for recertification are completion of a 12hour review course prior to your current certification’s expiration. American Red Cross Swimming Lessons
NRC swim lessons meet American Red Cross curriculum standards and all instructors are certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. To view class descriptions, visit the “Aquatics” page on our website or stop by the Rec Center.
Which Class? Each child must pass a particular level and granted a Red Cross Card before proceeding to the next level. All
age requirements must be followed unless instructor’s approval has been granted.
It is not uncommon for a child to stay in a
particular level for several sessions before successful completion.
Classes missed for vacation, injury, sickness or any other reason cannot be made up and are non-refundable.

youth sports Traditions Tang Soo Do
This class teaches self confidence, builds self-esteem and improves balance, while establishing discipline and courtesy towards others. Participants will learn age appropriate self-defense and weapons training. These classes are non-violent; sparring is optional.
Clothing and Equipment

Judo
The sport form of judo uses scientific-principles to throw, trip, sweep or otherwise propel one’s opponent to the mat. Summer League Softball Men’s and Coed
The Nampa Recreation Department offers summer coed and men’s softball leagues. The goal of the program is to provide opportunities for physical exercise, socialization and healthy competition for adults through team sports programs. Each league has three divisions: Division “A” consists of high caliber, competitive players, “B” consists of players with some experience, but a less competitive desire and “C” consists of players with little to no experience but interested in having fun. Each team plays ten regular season games followed by a double elimination tournament. Teams may play two games a week. Men’s League Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday 6:30pm or 7:45pm West Softball Complex
