The NRC may ask for proof of legal dependency or a marriage certificate from anyone registering for a family or senior couple membership.

nampa rec center The Nampa Recreation Center is a 140,000 square foot indoor facility offering many recreation amenities to the public. Our mission is to provide quality programs and services, be responsive to the citizens, and play an active role in making Nampa a healthy community. To ensure the safety of our members and visitors, the Nampa Recreation Center will enforce all policies and procedures. child care & education Youth Activity Center (YAC)

Hey kids, in your breaks between swimming and basketball, check out the Youth Activity Center or “YAC” at the Nampa Rec Center. Designed for 6 to 12 year olds to hang out with their peers and engage in fun games in a supervised environment. The YAC features X-Box Kinect, board games, foosball, air hockey, craft projects and other fun activities. Monday-Friday, 3-7pm Extended hours during school breaks Nampa Rec Center Free with NRC admission

NRC Play Center

Supervised childcare while you workout! Available on a first come, first-served basis, the NRC Play Center provides supervised childcare for children 5 and under by Pediatric CPR and First Aid certified staff. Play Center services are for parents or legal guardians while present in the Rec Center. Monday-Saturday: 8:45am-1:30pm Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 4-8:15pm Tuesday & Thursday: 4-9:15pm $2.50 per child/hour (2hr limit/day) Punch Passes are available.

child care & education Kids in Action Day Camp-(KIA)

The Nampa Rec Center, Kids in Action day camp program is a great way to keep your kids active when school is out. Kids in Action gets your kids moving in a supervised, safe environment. Kindergarten through fifth graders stay actively engaged before and after school, or full day care is available too! Transportation is included to and from any Nampa public school with additional $2 charge. No commitment, you only pay for the days your child attends and credits are issued when your plans change if you call by 12:30pm. A $5 late fee will be charged if your child has not been paid for by the end of the day of attendance. Call 468-5858 for more information or to set up a tour to see for yourself. Fitness Assessment

Get a baseline evaluation of your current fitness level to set goals or check your progress. Assessments measure blood pressure, heartrate, body weight, body composition, lower back/hamstring flexibility, bicep strength, cardiovascular endurance and body age. For best results, do not use nicotine, drink caffeine or exercise 2-3 hours prior to the appointment. Member Free, Non-Member $36

Nutrition Concepts

A key to achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle includes good nutrition. Meet with a trainer to help you learn more about fueling for exercise, the food groups, understanding labels, tips on filling a healthy plate and where to find additional reliable nutrition information. Body Composition

Our trainers will determine the amount of fat and muscle that makes up your weight using a 3-site caliper test or bioelectrical impedance test. Member Free, Non-Member $8

Power Plate®

The Power Plate® oscillating in all three planes creates instability and vibration in the body. This vibration activates muscle contractions between 25-50 times per second, involving 95% of the muscle fiber. Due to the increase of muscle contractions this type of training can generate more force with ease, enhancing overall performance, improving circulation, reducing soreness, and increasing muscle strength, flexibility and bone density. fitness Weight Room Age Policy

The weight room is reserved for individuals 15 years and older. Youth 13 and 14 years old may obtain weight room privileges by completing the NRC’s Youth Strength Training Course. The NRC offers the ZONE for 10-14 years olds and functional training under certain parameters for those as young as 6 years old. Each youth participant must complete an orientation with a trainer and sign a “Youth Training Pledge and Consent” form along with their parent before engaging in training.

The ZONE (Youth Fitness Center)

The ZONE features strength training equipment specifically engineered for youth ages 10-14. Stop by or call the weight room for more information or to schedule an orientation. Member Free, Non-Member $15

Youth Strength Training Course

By successfully completing this 11-hour course, youth ages 13 and 14 years will be granted use of the weight room. This course will focus on safe, productive training and practical experience. Classes are ongoing and require pre-registration at the Program Desk. Member $15, Non-Member $55

This class will help increase mobility and independence by improving lower body strength, endurance, flexibility and bone mass, which can help reduce the risk of falling. This six week course involves a variety of equipment but emphasizes the use of free weights. Small Group Functional Training

Try this intense circuit based workout using functional cardio and strength based drills that will have you burning calories and seeing results! rock climbing Welcome to the Wall!

Whether you are new to the exciting world of rock climbing or a seasoned pro, the Rec Center rock walls have something for everyone. Come climb with us; you’ll have fun and get fit at the same time.

Open Climbing Hours

Bouldering Climbing Wall

The wall includes nearly 1400 square feet of climbing surface and offers expanded bouldering climbing for all ability levels. The bouldering wall is for all ages and is open during normal Rec Center hours. It is located in the weight room area, next to the racquetball courts.

Waiver Policy (Top Rope Only)

All climbers must sign a waiver, valid January 1-December 31 of each year, to ensure we have current emergency contact information. Waivers are available at the Climbing Wall or on our website under “General Information.”

Rock Climbing Guidelines (Bouldering) • Have fun, but no horseplay! • Leave space between you and others. Do not climb or stand under other climbers. • Climb Down! Do not intentionally fall or jump off wall. • Climb only as high as the hand-holds. Do not climb over the top or behind the wall. • Children under 6 years old must be accompanied by a supervising adult. • Shoes are required. No bare feet or shoes with marking soles. Climbing shoes can be rented at the front desk. • Chalk balls are permitted, but no loose chalk. • Lockers are available for personal items. No bags or other items can be kept in the bouldering area or weight room. • Stay safe! Please report any misuse or problems to the NRC staff immediately. • Your safety is important. Please climb within your skill level.

swimming NRC Pools

The Nampa Rec Center houses five swimming pools for your exercise and recreational enjoyment. Programs consist of swimming lessons, aquatic safety classes, water aerobics and kayaking. Enjoy access to the Lap Pool, Rec Pool, Deep Pool, and Kids Pool. Open swim times will offer recreational play in pools of different sizes and temperatures. Pools may have limited availability, ask a lifeguard for more info.

Homeschool Swimming

The Nampa Recreation Center is proud to offer a fun and energetic home school swimming P.E. program. Children of all swimming abilities will be able to participate in activities with other children of similar skills and ages in the swimming pool. On the first day children will be split up based on swimming ability and age. During the two hour period each level group will receive a 30 minute group lesson from one of our nationally certified instructors, the rest is open recreational swimming time for the kids to interact, have fun and be active! Open Kayaking

The Nampa Recreation Center Lap Pool will be available on Wednesdays from 7:00pm-9:00pm for open kayaking. Due to limited space, reservations are recommended. Call the Front Desk to reserve your spot. Bring your own kayak or rent one for $2 an hour. An adult must accompany children 12 and under.

CPR/AED & First Aid Class

Course is designed to teach participants to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. Are you a scout that needs to pass your Merit Badge Swim Test? Come to our open scout night to complete your requirements. Scouts are responsible for bringing sign off requirements and paperwork. NEW Swim Idaho!

Formerly Wave Club or Senior Splashers, Swim Idaho! Is a way for lap swimmers to chart their progress, set goals and conquer those goals. Swimming benchmarks are: 102 miles the distance of the Boise River, 425 miles the distance of the Salmon River, 779 miles the distance of the length and width of Idaho and finally 1,076 the distance of the mighty Snake River. T-shirts are awarded at each Idaho Bench Mark. Ask a Lifeguard how to start tracking your laps!

swimming American Red Cross Lifeguard Recertification

Red Cross Lifeguard Training

This course is designed for experienced swimmers ages 15 and older that want to become Red Cross Lifeguards. Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications are awarded upon successful completion of the course. Course prerequisites are: 300 yard swim using front crawl and breaststroke, retrieval of a 10 pound brick from 7ft of water and two minutes of treading water with no hands. If you are unsure whether you can complete the prerequisites, sign up for a skills evaluation. Refund request must be made 4 business days before start of class. Adult Swim Club - Drop in Fitness opportunity

Adult Swim Club is a coached fitness program designed for intermediate swimmers to advanced swimmers looking for quality workouts, technique instruction and stroke improvement. This American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course demonstrates how to teach Red Cross swimming lessons and set up lesson plans. The Nampa Recreation Center is offering a Racquetball League beginning in January. Players will have a weekly match where they are placed with an opponent of their same ability level. Ultimate Frisbee League

Time to dust off your Frisbees and round up your team to make some Frisbee highlight reels. The Nampa Recreation Department offers summer coed and men’s softball leagues. The goal of the program is to provide opportunities for physical exercise, socialization and healthy competition for adults through team sports programs. Each league has three divisions: Division “A” consists of players looking for a competitive game, “B” consists of players with some experience, but a less competitive desire and “C” consists of players with little to no experience but interested in having fun. Each team plays ten regular season games followed by a double elimination tournament. Teams may play two games a week. Men’s League Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday 6:30pm or 7:45pm West Softball Complex

Formerly Wave Club or Senior Splashers, Swim Idaho! Is a way for lap swimmers to chart their progress, set goals and conquer those goals.
