‘DOODLE’ SS2013 We doodle whilst absent in reverie The space between what makes sense and what is nameless Squiggles shift and take on multiple faces enjoy your brains creative twinkling Scatter, splatter and circle away... Starstyling SS13 daywear collection challenges fashions strict aesthetics and plays up the traditional urban street wear code. The collection assembles strikes, dots & scribbling’s across a monochrome base splashed with the vibrancy of laser bright neon’s and complementary chalky hues. The visual illusion that sees each garment handpainted whilst on the body is sustained throughout the collection. Splatters of artistic delight flood each piece, as though they were once on an easel. Once the garments are constructed the doodling takes on a life of it’s own. Each piece is an effortless companion welcoming easy summer silhouettes in shorts, trousers, dresses, t-shirts, circular skirts, pencil skirts and of course, the bigshirt dress. Strikes, crosses, paint drops and piano keys are the main static motifs throughout the collection. We revisit the foil transfer prints that are cut and characterized in their own doodling way whilst warmly accessorizing with vivid fringing and pom poms. The unpredictable changes within silicone textures have been explored and dissected whilst prints that would once be seen as a pleasant spread across your table have been selected to wear as your own. -
Gentle motion from the wrist, complete control and focus used in the creation of both products.
During this collection it was intriguing to learn about how different fabric fibers react to different colour pigments.
Painting on already made garments left no room for error it was important to be precise. Dips were welcome here & there.
‘STRIPE FOR YOUR RIGHT TO PARTY’
SS2011
Grid painted bigshirt, horizontal stripes bigshirt and vertical strike bigshirt.
I was completely allured by colours combining with one another, only in some places and others not.
Having the opportunity to learn & practice knitting and crochet, creating jewelry, scarfs and hats.
In the fall of dec2011 I spent many winter days painting striped on stripes, vivid visual became apart of each day.
OLYMPUS PHOTOGRAPHY PLAYGROUND
A collaboration with Olympus camera and other artists from around Europe, Starstyling been one of those.
Assisting for this project was incredible, the space was an old Berlin factory untouched and raw.
All curtains were handpinted by me, meters at a time while laying on the floor..
The painting took place inside the space, very exciting to have creative control over colours & placement.
PAINTED FRINGES T-SHIRTS
Originally the idea of the curtains stemmed from the classic finger v-neck t-shirt & bigshirt.
It wasn’t about choosing the most ‘appealing’ colours it was about creating a palette that was engaging for the eye.
EGAL AW12/13
One of my duties at Starstyling was to prepare illustrator files, create pattern and over see the plotter and foil preparation.
The ‘EGAL’ collection used kilometers of folio, in order to get the reptile effect seen on each product, two layers of folio app.
DUVE EXHIBTION, CREATING ON A LIVE STREAM
During the RESEARCH ‘N’ MOTION project by Roman Liška at DUVE Gallery Berlin, I assisted the designer on live stream.
Designing and producing samples for 8 hrs a day 5 days a week with people watching from around the globe.
