Pie Hot Pad Tutorial
Materials: will make 2 2 fat quarters of fruit print fabric 1/2 yard of pie crust colored fabric for pie top strips and backing 1/2 yard Insul-Fleece by Pellon 36" of bias tape for pot holder edging (pre-made or make yourself) 10" circle template or something like, I used a wood stove connector for 10" pipes. Pins, Thread, Scissors, Seam Ripper, Sewing Machine
Directions: 1.) Trace your circle onto your fruit print, insul-fleece, and backing fabrics.
2.) Cut out 2 - 10" squares.. Repeat steps 1 & 2 cutting circles out of your backing fabric and the insulfleece.
3.) Cut 3" strips width of fabric for pie top strips. Cut each strip into 3 - 10" pieces. Press and fold under raw edges.
4.) Pin your pie crust strips to top as shown then pin your fabric and batting sandwich to make ready for quilting.
5.) Sew along edges of each strip, sewing through all layers
6.) Trim around the edge of your pie trimming away any extra pi crust that may be sticking out. Press.
7.) Sew your bias tape around your pie using your favorite technique.
8.) Press. Machine wash, lukewarm water, air dry. I hope you found this tutorial useful. Peace, Robert,
Nancy's Fabrics. I know using a stove pipe elbow is unusual. But I a man, need to manify quilting some way. :). Just joshing it just happened to be 10". :)
