OUIL603 Extended Practice

For my extended practice module I have completed a number of projects, the majority of which have been competitions and live briefs. I chose to do this because it gives me experience of working to professional briefs with the potential to get my work seen by the right people. It also gives me structure by having a deadline to work to and specified deliverables to produce. My dissertation definitely took priority before Christmas so I was completing short briefs for extended as a break from this. I only allowed myself one or two days to complete each one of these because they were quite short projects that could be completed relatively quickly. This way of working suited me and kept my momentum up because working under pressure has always been a strength of mine.

Even just from comparing the images at the beginning and end of this report, I can see how I have progressed this year. I have become much more professional in the way I handle briefs and how I present my final work in response to them. My organisation throughout this module has been good, I have stayed on top of my blogging and made presentation boards after every few briefs instead of leaving them all to the last minute. It has been good for me to tackle one brief at a time because when I start juggling multiple briefs is when I get confused where my priorities lie and lose concentration. The constant flow of opportunities coming through from college for live briefs and competitions have been great for keeping me motivated, focussed and driven to keep progressing. I am hoping this situation will be reflected in life after university and I can keep on being inspired and driven by new opportunities arising.
