Hold your fun-filled birthday party at the Barber! Explore the stories behind our paintings and sculptures with our storyteller. You’ll meet some heroes and villains, and get the chance to dress up, before making your very own work of art to take home with you! £12 per child. Minimum 10 children, maximum 15 children. Age 6 years upwards No party is complete without some party food! Our treasure chest lunch boxes include: carton of juice, chocolate buttons, Babybel Edam cheese, Hula Hoops, Fruitpot or jelly, and a choice of sandwiches (ham and tomato, cheese or egg mayo) – £5.95 per child. Include a party bag to remember your visit – £2 each.
Our fabulous and FREE family activity guides to the galleries are always full of puzzles, quizzes and drawing challenges to keep the whole family busy and inspired during your visit. Pick one up now in the Learning Room at the top of the stairs, or ask one of our friendly members of staff.
By Train Local trains, operated by London Midland, run regularly from Birmingham New Street to University station, a 15-minute walk from the Barber. Check train times and buy tickets at www.londonmidland.com By Bus There are frequent buses that stop at various locations at the edge of the university campus. Buses 61 and 63 from the city centre stop on the Bristol Road at its junction with Edgbaston Park Road. For all services and a current timetable visit www.nxbus.co.uk/west-midlands By Car The university’s South Car Park (off Edgbaston Park Road) is a short walk away. Charges apply Monday – Friday; 9.30am – 4.30pm.
FREE parking is available on campus around the Barber outside these times and all day on bank holidays. For maps and more information about how to travel to the Barber visit: www.about.bham.ac.uk/maps ACCESS/FACILITIES Level access is available if you cannot manage the stairs at the main entrance, but please phone in advance to make arrangements. Gallery shop, light refreshments, WC, lift and baby-changing facilities are available. Breast-feeding is welcome throughout the building.

There is always plenty for you and your family to do at the Barber, with something on offer for people of all ages. We welcome families to play and learn together in our creative art and craft workshops inspired by our fascinating collection and exhibitions.
SPECIAL EVENTS Saturday 18 MaY 11am – 4pm Lady B’s Big Birthday Bash! Meet Lady Barber, her husband Sir Henry and her cute little terrier. See our painting, Peasants Binding Faggots, by Breughel, come to life in a story in the galleries! Have a go at making your own hairy moustache – just like Sir Henry’s – and your own furry doggie hand puppet. Then join in an orchestra of kazoos! Family Day. Drop-in – no need to book. FREE.
Sunday 9 June 11am – 4pm COMMUNITY DAY: Art Factory! Buy your own original drawing or Plasticine model, made by a real artist, from just £1 – and have a go at making one yourself.
