Main Street Hanford and Adventist Health present the 19th Annual Blues and Roots Festival in downtown Hanford. The festival will be held on Saturday, September 21st from 5:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. under the stars in beautiful Civic Park. Make sure you bring your dancing shoes as well as your blankets or lawn chairs for a fantastic evening of Blues in downtown Hanford. Main Street Hanford has a great line up of blues with AC Myles opening the show, followed by Bill Clifton’s Chicken & Whiskey Band, and headliner Tommy Castro and the Painkillers performing on the Hanford Chrysler Stage. AC Myles’ performance is a collection of originals and choice covers in traditional electric blues styling. Myles very confidently delivers, with an amazing vocal range and tone as well as staggering unyielding guitar work. For over four decades, Bill Clifton has worked hard, honing his craft, playing Blues. He is known for his high-octane guitar work and stage antics, there is never a dull moment during a performance. Employing a mixture of Chicago Blues, Texas Blues, Delta Blues, North Mississippi Hill Blues and R&B music styles - always keep things fresh and interesting. No two songs will sound the same and Bill is constantly striving to make his music better. Whether he’s squeezing out the deepest blues or playing the funkiest soul grooves, legendary blues and soul giant Tommy Castro knows how to ignite a crowd. Over the course of his still-unfolding career, the guitarist, vocalist and songwriter has released 15 albums ranging from horn-fueled soul and R&B to piping hot blues to fiery rock ‘n’ roll. He’s performed all over the world, earning countless fans with his legendary, sweatdrenched, exhilarating live shows. Castro’s band, The Painkillers have now been playing together over four years and performed hundreds of live shows. Billboard says the band plays “irresistible contemporary blues-rock” with “street-level grit and soul.” The event will have food and beverages available. Food vendors such as Fatte Albert’s Pizza, Toshiko’s, Beef Masters, Sanchez Corn and more will be there to tempt your taste buds. There will be so many options you might have a hard time deciding what to enjoy for dinner. There will also be a beer and wine garden sponsored by Budweiser. Remember, admission is FREE for the

Downtown Happenings Main Street Hanford has seen a lot of positive change in downtown Hanford this year! We have celebrated new businesses and seen some businesses expand. There are more reasons than ever to shop small and support your community. When you shop small, you get a one on one experience. Business owners know their customers and understand what their needs are. You can always expect to be greeted, guided to the right product, treated like a friend and receive the best quality. Small business owners truly care about what they do. • Downtown Hanford is the new home to The Brewhouse Grill located at 102 W. Seventh Street, next door to Hop Forged Brewery. Brewhouse Grill is owned by Frank Alves and is the perfect complement to its neighbor, Hop Forged. They are open for lunch daily (closed Mondays) and they are open late in the evenings. You can enjoy a quaint atmosphere at the restaurant or take food to go. Patrons of Hop Forged can enjoy a delicious Cheese Burger, Crispy Onion Rings, or Shrimp Ceviche while they enjoy a nice cold craft beer. The Brewhouse Grill has appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers and dogs. Bring the kiddos and enjoy their Kids Menu with meals under $5. We are so excited to have The Brewhouse Grill in downtown Hanford. • Samurai Sushi opened up this summer in the old Firehouse Building at 215 N. Douty Street. Customers love having a Sushi Bar in downtown Hanford and the Japanese Restaurant is receiving great reviews! Their menu includes a wide variety of Sushi Rolls including the popular Crunchy Dragon Roll, Mexican Roll, Crazy Boy Roll and the California Roll. Their menu also includes combination dinner plates and appetizers. You can sit at the bar and watch the chefs make your rolls, or you can enjoy a sit down experience. Whether you are eating in or picking up food to go, Samurai Sushi does not disappoint. Visit them today and try it for yourself! • Owners of the Ivy Boutique have decided to open a second location in downtown Hanford. They are opening The Ivy & Lace Bridal Boutique at 100 W. Seventh Street. The Bridal Boutique will feature a full service experience for the modern woman. They will carry formal dresses for brides, mother of the bride/groom, flower girl dresses, prom dresses and gowns for any formal occasion. Brides will have the experience they have always dreamt about as they shop for the perfect dress for their perfect day. The boutique will also carry shoes and accessories. The Ivy & Lace Boutique will be a great addition to downtown and we are so excited for this business to open before the end of the year. • The property at 240 N. Irwin Street has been vacant for nearly 20 years and later this year, Sensory Rock will be opening up on the corner of 8th Street and Irwin Street. Sensory Rock is a gym for all children of all ages including children with disabilities. Sensory Rock will be a state-of-the-art multi-sensory gym, providing every child positive play in a therapeutic environment. The gym will feature play areas such as a trapeze zip line and a water room with magnetic features.
