NOTE FROM
EVENTS
HEAD
I would like to recall an incident from one of the General Body Meetings I had attended in my tenure in the General Council as a Unit Designee. A decision making discussion was taking place, and one of the Unit Secretaries had asked, “Will the Association agree to this?”. Immediately, a council member on the dais retorted, “What Association? You are the Association”. Back then, it was something I knew already, but gave only a superficial thought about. Further in my tenure as the Unit Secretary, it was a sentence very often repeated that “Unit Secretaries hold the most power in the Association.” because of their given right to represent, to question, to contribute and to vote. Now being a part of the Executive Council, I realize to the fullest extent how much truth those words hold. The Association has been ever changing in the way it has been functioning over the years. With the annual themes of Embark, Rudiments and Grassroots, I have had the privilege to stand witness to its continuous evolution. On my first visit to the Head Quarters, I was flipping through the pages of some archival magazines, trying to find my own

narrative about the story of this Association. I could almost not recognize the structure of the EC-ZC from a decade ago in comparison to what it is today. It reaffirmed me that the Association runs on this paradox of “stability in dynamism”. To all those that are reading this and are a part of the National Association of Students of Architecture, I urge you to utilize the worth of your voice and realise the merit of your contributions to its growth. The legacy of the Association lies not mainly in its long standing history, but rather in the thousands of students it fosters. I hope to see this productive dynamism carried forward with vigor to the future years, with much of your aspiration. Abinaya Ravichandran Events Head 64th Executive Council NASA India
NOTE FROM
ZONAL
PRESIDENT
F rom taking my first step in NASA, as a student participating in trophies and events, to becoming the Zonal President of Zone-6 - this 4 year journey has been a great source of learning and exposure for me. It’s helped me understand both the architectural fraternity and the outside world. The association, in my opinion, is the best platform for any student to express themselves and celebrate the diversity of our country, even outside the scope of architecture. Zone 6 has been my home in the association, I have made loads of memories and had many eye opening moments. I hope our zone keeps celebrating our lingual, cultural, and traditional differences by exploring the diversity of the two states. The association’s council is one of the greatest examples of democracy I have experienced every student of the fraternity has a say in the association and no one has the power or the upper end in the decision making. The association truly is - of, by and for the students. Who would believe that an organisation of such calibre is governed by just the students of the fraternity.
Finally I would like to thank every individual who has contributed to NASA in the past 64 years because, as the saying goes, ‘we leave something of ourselves behind even when we go away’. I strongly believe in this idea, since it is only because of these people’s involvement that NASA has gradually grown into the one of a kind student association that it is today. I had not known about NASA be-
forehearing of it from my seniors. I used to wonder, seeing them skipping classes, leisure time, and working overnight for trophies - what was it all about? I had a fundamental understanding of our Association, but was never interested in exploring until late into my UD tenure. I was very hesitant during most meets and would shy away from unmuting and talking, until I realized that every Usecs’ voice matters to our Association, and here I’m not just an Individual, instead I represent the 250+ students of my unit. Undoubtedly, NASA India has made a significant contribution in grooming me as a person to a Professional and improved my interpersonal skills. I also feel happy to be one of the outreach coordinators of the 64th year council, which made my NASA journey even more beautiful. So, yeah! Despite everything, I got a marvelous NASA family who are always there to help professionally and personally. I Hope this journey continues. Hari Sasikumar Outreach Coordinator 2021-2022 Unit Secretary - Z603, NIT Trichy

Memories and experiences are the
two things I really hold dear. When I started my tenure as an unit designee I understood something huge was going on. Huge responsibilities, huge opportunities, huge exposure, many people from all over the country. I wanted to be responsible to my utmost, to acquire every opportunity, to talk and befriend every person I could. It was overwhelming. Sadly, things were not how it was supposed to be due to COVID. But, we always give a great comeback, isn’t it what mankind is known for? And in the middle of escaping lockdowns Cheers! I became the unit secretary. From then I could proudly say, every opportunity I tried to cling to it, every exposure I tried to gain experience through it, every person I tried to understand them, appreciate them and work with them in a better way. NASA is a platform that I feel fortunate to be a part of, from being a Unit Designee, Unit Secretary to Print Media Coordinator I could not ask for more opportunities nor more learning experiences. Thank you NASA, for 2 years of memories and experiences. Kudos to the coming years. Rohith V Print media coordinator 2021-2022. Unit secretary – Z630 – SRM SEAD.

Designing, editing, and finally creating the Newsletter was an experience. From getting chosen from aspiring designers and editors from all over the zone, getting to know our teammates, talking to the Zonal President, approaching architects for interviews, struggling in the last minute to release the newsletter on time for the Finale of the Zonal event - being a part of the team for the Zone 6 Newsletter was exciting and challenging every step of the way. This was our first official attempt at making something of this sort for most of us, and viewing all your submissions - the stories, the art, the project sheets, and achievements - was a pleasure to the senses. Catching glimpses of the varied experiences of the future architects of zone 6 was enlightening, and renewed our zeal to try and present your best work, in the best way possible. There were many hiccups though, growing pains as we got used to how everyone in the team worked, and figuring out how to fit in together. But in the end, with the guidance of the Zonal President, Shruthi and Rohith (Usecs of Z690 and Z630), the team came through and figured it out. Hopefully, we were able to make something that was faithful to the spirit and strength of the Zone. We hope to see your continued support as we try to push the newsletter to greater heights. Sincerely, The Team
