Urbanization forced the rapid expansion of the city's structure , pushing constantly the edge further.
Nowadays, the urban growth reached a crucial limit. In order to preserve the connectivity of the city's form, the negative force _towards the center_, needs to be
enhanced, giving back to the public space its dynamic role.
However, for a successful regeneration of public space through urban design proposals, outdoor comfort is considered to be an important aspect.
Moving to the Mediterranean climate zone, where
outdoor space is still vibrant, the current regeneration of the Athenian center offers valuable knowledge for the possible interaction between urban design and
sustainable environment.
