So what's the story behind Witchy Moms?

In 2012, my husband died in a work accident at our business Our daughters were 5yrs & 2yrs old at the time. I was a 34yr old widow. As one could imagine my entire world changed in an instant. I felt so alone & scared. I had no idea how I was going to move forward.

Fast forward to September 2016. I sat in a safe house with my 3 daughters hiding from my abusive partner. I felt so scared & so alone. I had no idea what I was going to do. Once again my life was turned totally upside down.

I could not believe that once again I was in the same type of situation- alone, scared & having to rebuild my life

I knew one thing was for sure I was going to heal & so were my kids. This was NOT how this story was going to end.

Doctors prescribed pills & sent me to talk therapy both when my husband died AND when we left our abuser.

I knew there had to be another way to get through it, so I spent 3 years discovering all of the healing modalities I could find. I learned so much & found relief & most of all hope that we were in fact going to make it.

I also realized that I could not be the only one going through this There had to be other women like me struggling & looking for answers

In April 2020, I started the Witchy Moms in hopes of finding other likeminded women.

And now here we are 3 years later... I have the honor of walking with women each day who have decided to rewrite their story. I am beyond grateful for this journey.

BeltanecomesfromtheGaelicwordthatmeans“brightfire,”whichiswhytheGaelic CeltscelebratedBeltanewithafirefestivalcelebratingthebeginningofSummer. Theyusedthistimetoperformfireritesforprotectiontopurifyandprotecttheir animals.Bonfireswerebuiltandconsideredtohaveprotectivepowers.Theherdsmen woulddrivetheiranimalsthroughthesmokeandtaketheembershometotheir hearths.TheGaelicCeltsbelievedthatthispracticewouldprotecttheminthecoming monthsandencouragegrowthintheiranimals,aswellastheirownlives.

Today,Beltaneoffersawonderfulopportunityforprotectiveworkings.Today,we canfindsmallwaystoensureandprotectoursuccessthroughmagicalpractices.You mayconsideranextracharmabovethelockonyourfrontdoororburyingacrystalin thesoilofapottedplant.Eventhemundaneofinspectingyourhome’slocks,doors, andwindows,andbymakingrepairscanbeawaytoreviewyourdefensesduring thistime.Examineyourlifestyleaswelltoaddprotectiontoyoureverydaylife.Do youenjoywalking?Whattimeofdaydoyougo?Couldyouwalkwithafriendif youwalkatnight?Littlechangeslikethiscanaddupinbigwaysovertime.

Beltaneisaseasonofgettingthosecreativejuicesflowing!Theenergyduringthis timeisvibrantandfertile.Perfectforstartingthoseprojectswe’vebeenputtingoffall winter.Beltanewillbetimetofinishthatbookyou’vebeenthinkingaboutorthat paintingthatishalffinishedandhidinginyourcloset.Allthoseideasyouhavebeen manifestingallwintercancometofruition!Don’thaveaprojectalreadystarted?Find somethingnewthatwillmakeyoursoulsing.Itdoesn’tmatterwhatitis–sing, dance,paint,bake,ortakeaphoto.Justenjoythebeautyintheworldandthefactthat youcanmanifestandappreciatethisbeautywithinyourself.

Beltaneisalsoatimeofpurification.Itistimetoshakeoffallthatstagnantenergythat hasbeenhangingonduringwinter.Nowisthetimetocleanitallout!Havean overflowingcloset?Timetoreorganize!Cleaning,notyourjam?Takeapurifying bathwithseasaltsandherbs.Youcanalsocleanseyourauraintheshoweraswell!

Imagineallthenegativeenergieswashingdownthedrain.Eventhesimplethingslike doingyourhairorbuyinganewoutfit.Ritualbaths,firerituals,andhousesmudging arecommonwaystobanishnegativeenergiesandinfluencesatBeltane.Anothereasy waytocleanseaspace(especiallyifyouhaverestrictionswithfirewhereyoulive)isto makeamistspraywithsaltwaterorwaterwithlavenderessentialoil.Sprayaround theperimeterofeveryroomclockwisestartingintheeast.

Healingisajourney,andit’snotonewearereallypreparedfor.Inour brainswethink,ohgood,IwillgotocounselingandIwillbefixed. Wrong.Whatwedonotrealizeisthatitisnotaquickfix,andwecannot relyonotherstodothefixingandwearen’tevenawareofwhatoursouls arecarryingfromthepastthatmayalsoaffectthechoiceswemake.

Thatishowmyhealingjourneybegins.Ihavealwaysbeenveryshy,not wantingtobearoundalotofstrangersandknowingalmostinstantlyifI likedsomeoneornot.Thinkingback,evenasayoungchildIcouldfeel energy.

Inowrealizefeelingenergyisagift,butinmychildhooditwasnot.I couldnotexpresstomyfamilywhyIdidn’tlikesomeone,whetheritwasa strangerorafamilymember.Icomefromthegenerationofhuggingallthe relatives,sayinghitostrangersbecauseitwaspolite.WhenIvoicedmy opinionof“Idon’tlikeuncle”IwastolditwasrudeandIwashurtinghis feelings.

Fastforwardthroughmychildhoodtomyteenyears.Bythistimemy parentsweredivorced.Andatthattimeitbroughtunwantedattentionto me.Divorcewasn’tathing.Ihadgottenalotofquestionsfromkidsabout whatitwaslikeandhowoftenIspentwitheachparent.Theywerenot beingunkind,theyweregenuinelycurious,itwasn’tsomethingthey experienced.ItmademefeellikeIwasanoutcast.Icouldn’tdothingson theweekendswithmyfriendsbecauseIhadtospendthattimewithmy dad,whichIofcourseloved,butasateenageryoualsowanttogotothe moviesorhavesleepovers,allthethingskidsdo.

Havingmyparentsseparatedalsobroughtotherchallenges.Astepparent. MymotherremarriedwhenIwasateenager.Iwasokaywithitatfirst,but itincreasinglybecamemoreandmoredifficult.Iwasusedtohavingto listentoonlymymom.SoofcourseIwasstartingtobecomethatdefiant teenagerwhowouldn’tlistentoanyone.

WhichofcourseleadstoyellingandIhadtodomychoresanyway, regardlessofwhowastellingmetodothem.Irealizedthatwasthe problem.Iwasbeingtoldtodosomething.Ididn’tlikethat.Mymom wouldaskme.Iwouldtellmymotherthisandshewouldjustsay“justdo it,itwillmakelifeeasier”.

Astheyearswentbymyrelationshipwithmystepdadbecameterrible.We didn’ttalk.Aftergraduatinghighschool,Istartedworkingandlivingon myown,becomingmyownperson.Ihaddatedsomebutnothingthat lasted.Ihadtheknackofchoosingallthewrongones.UntilImettheone, soIhadthought.Ithoughtallrelationshipshadtheirdifficulties,afterallit wasnormaltohearanargument.That’sjustwhatadultsdo.Sevenyears laterIrealizedthisrelationshipwasn’twhatIwanted.Iwasmiserable.I endedupbackatmymomandstepdad’shouse,untilIcouldgetmyself backonmyfeet.

Duringthatyearbackathome,Istartedbecomingmyselfagain.Iwas healingfromthebadrelationshipandgoingbacktoschoolatnight.Iwas movingon.Forwardingthroughtheyears,Ihadgottenmarried,gavebirth tothreechildrenandwasastayathomemom.FromtheoutsideIhadthe perfectlife.ExceptIwasn’thappy.Iwasfallingintoadepressionandwasn’t evenawareofit.Whatwaswrongwithme,Ikeptaskingmyself.Ihad threebeautifulchildrenandahome,Ihavenoreasontobemiserable. Withoutevenbeingaware,Ibecameapeoplepleaser.Ididn’twanttohurt othersfeelings.Ididn’twanttorocktheboat.Iwantedtobetheperfect wife,soIwouldn’tgetyelledat.

Ibegantowithdraw.Iwouldlosemyselfinbooks.Icouldvisitdifferent worlds,bedifferentpeople.Itwasexcitingtoescapemylifeandputmyself intothefictionaloneIwasreading.IknewIdidn’thavetheperfect marriageliketheonesIreadabout.Marriageslikethosewereonlyin stories,soIthought.

After12yearsofmarriage,itwasoverandIwasdiagnosedwithdepression. Ididn’twanttotreatitwithmedication,IbelievedIcouldfindanalternate route.MydoctororderedmetocounselingifIrefusedmedication.Iwas okaywiththat.Ilookedforwardtomysessioneachweek.Withinthetwo yearsIspentincounselingIhadlearnedaboutemotionalabuseandwe discussedtheeffectsithadonme.Istillrefusedmedications.Iwasfirmly againstit.ThatiswhenIwasintroducedtoReiki,whichwasrightupmy alley.Iwaswonderful,sowonderfulinfactIstartedstudyingtobecomea Reikipractitioner.Thiswasjustthebeginningofenergyhealing.Iwas feelingaliveagain.Itwasamazing,Iwasleavingmypastbehind.Iwasn’t readyforittocomebackrearingitsuglyhead.

Ispentthetimeaftermydivorcefindingmytrueself.IhadReikiundermy belt,anditopenedmeuptoawholenewworld.Ifoundmyowngiftsthat Ihadsuppressedmywholelifeandlearnedhowtoworkwiththem.I marriedtheperfectpersonforme.HadInotdonethehealingworkIdon’t knowifIwouldhavebeensoopenandexcitedforwhatwascoming.

Idecidedtogetmybusinessupandgoing.Iwashavingtrouble.Iwas doingallthethings,nothingwasworking.Ididn’thaveclients,Ifeltlost andwasn’tsureImadetherightchoice.Iwasfallingbackintopeople pleasingmode.Allthefearscamefloodingback.NobodycareswhatIhave tosay,Iamnotimportant,Iamnotinteresting,allofitcameback.Iwasa mess.Icalledafriend,Ididn’tknowwhattodo.Iwassocaughtupinmy head.ThatiswhenIwasintroducedtoHolyLight.

Shecalmedmedown,andtoldmeweweredoingasession.Ibasicallyhad tojustrelaxwhileshedidthesessionremotely.IfeltlikeIwasbeing broughtbackintime.Itwassoamazing.AttheendofthesessionIfelt lighterandmoreclearheaded.Ihadsuchavividdreamthatnight.Itwas alsothemostbizarredreamIeverhad.Ithoughtaboutitforadayorso tryingtofigureoutwhatitallmeant,ifanything.

Italsoaidswithphysicalpain.Ilivewithchronicpain,sothatrightthere wasofinteresttome.AfterjustonesessionInoticedthepainIusuallyfelt hadlessened.Notjustforadayorso,itwaslessenedforafewweeks.Iwas hooked,Iknewthisamazingmodalitywasforme.Ihadtolearn.

SincethatfirstsessionIhavehadquiteafewmoreandeachtime,itpicks awayatallthetraumathatisjustsittingthere.Ithinkofitasdigging througharock,chippingawayalittlebitatatime.Iamstillamazedeach timeIhaveasession.

Thethingwithhealingisthatjustwhenyouarefeelinggoodandgoing throughlifeasachangedperson,lifehitsyouandyourealizepartofyou wasjuststuffingthosefeelingsdowntoyourtoes.Truehealingisajourney andforsomealifelongjourney.Itisnotsomethingtobeashamedof,orto beatyourselfupabout.

Iamsothankfulfortheopportunitytostudy,learnandpracticethis modalityandamsohonoredtosharethismodalitywiththeworld.Itcan trulychangeyourlife.
