Yen magazine is an Australian magazine primarily aimed at women, between 18-30. Subjects included in the magazine are; women’s health, fashion, photography, artwork, food and they celebrate strong confident women. The lay out throughout is minimal with lots of white space and a combination of artwork and photographs. The magazine is no longer published, so I decided to create a “British edition” to be marketed in the U.K and decided on the theme of politics, “how can we be more optimistic about politics?”. I have been very fortunate through this process and had the pleasure of interviewing Emily Davison’s great niece Donna Hitchman and Robin Redhead who is a politics lecturer at Leeds Beckett university who both gave their opinions on the matter of young people not getting as involved as previous generations. I have included three artist’s work which they designed specifically for my edition to match the theme. They include; Sophie Masters, Hana May and Dirtygrrrl.
