This is a celebration of the visionaries. Those who venture to the outer parts of the globe just to have a look around. The ones who strap up their boots and teeter along the unknown with the sole intention to immerse themselves in their surroundings. These are the contributors who create windows and grace us with new views, shape our perspectives, and inspire us to become a little more vulnerable to let the experience in. They poeticize the beauty of our wild world and infatuate our imagination with possibility.

The cellular reception dropped out a few miles back, but I leaned forward anyways running the bow towards the horizon. The news kept cycling and the headlines carried on, but all of that faded away along sun bleached seas. With each wave there was a gentle lift and a graceful fall. The wind whispered a subtle hymn as the sun caressed my shoulders. I was completely embraced by my surroundings. Away from it all.

You look out on the horizon of infinite blue and you’re suspended. It’s then you notice the tranquility. It doesn’t come in an overwhelming surge, but in the quiet resonance of the oceanic hymn. Nature is running wild and you can feel it course through your veins. That’s the splendor of isolation. The gap is bridged between you and your surroundings. You’re left lying in full surrender to the elements with a sense of curiosity. And that – the very experience itself – cannot be understated. It’s a peace.

The light is there. It’s along the folds of the sea or in the sways of a palm. We may lose course, but we will find a new heading along the way.

Uncharted waters lie for a chance of discovery.

“I am attracted to contributors. I find them warm, energised and on the whole good people.

I started to wrestle with the concept of ownership vs contribution. The last human chapter has been all about the the owners. Owning a house, a company, an identity, a way of life. Of course it is all just that little bit silly. None of these things are truly owned but more a human construct to give us comfort and avoid uneasiness. What if we changed the direction slightly? What if we contributed to all these concepts and more. What if tomorrow’s heroes were the brave and enthusiastic contributors? What if the next generation of homo sapien dreamt of being a contributor when they grow up? Ownership in isolation is so 2019... we tried it. It didn’t work. When we all take our last breath we can’t take what we own with us. 40 000 years later modern civilization is getting the memo. It’s our energy exchanges, our contributions, that will shape our final thoughts and leave our planet and community in better shape than we found it.” Adrian Steirn
