Runner's guide
English
Each year, since 2003, there have been more and more of you who have dreamed about participating in the World Summit of trail-running. Over the last 15 years, a magical event has taken root. From the shy applause of the incredulous spectators we have succeeded to triumphant arrivals which attract a public from all the horizons. The largest gathering of trail-running enthusiasts has developed from a slightly mad project imagined by a group of friends. From the 700 runners the first year, the UTMB® now welcomes 10 000 runners who come from 100 different countries. Everything has changed, but everything has stayed the identical. The apprehension on the starting line, the capacity of the runners to sublimate their efforts, the love of the mountains, the respect for nature, but also the opening to the world, the emotion on the finishing line... already 15 years and 4 letters which continue to bring us together.
U T
as in Ultimate Qualifying races, the draw, the training, we know that being on the starting line is for many of you the outcome of a long-term project. For many amongst you this event has long been a dream which you have thought to be impossible. This year, with more than 22 000 registration requests the draw obviously left many disappointed. It is for those reasons that we offered, to all those refused, the chance to register for the MCC. And for those, in your circle of acquaintances, who were not lucky enough to be drawn, remember that with our system of coefficients, they will eventually be able to register for the race of their choice. That is also what the UTMB® is, an event where equity has its place.
as in Terrain Along with the partner communes all is done to make this race an exceptional one. Uniting three countries around an event is unique of its kind. Behind this beautiful cohesion, there is the wish for you to have an extraordinary experience. We use all the material and human means at our disposition to make it exist, the 2 000 volunteers who come from 15 different countries, the 18 French, Italian and Swiss communes of the Mont-Blanc country unite to work together for the success of the event throughout the week and to support the UTMB® runners. On the ground, you also have a role to play in helping to make this event continue. That of helping us to protect this magnificent playground by having good gestures and the right reflexes towards the environment.
M
as in Magic There is something in the air during the UTMB®. A particular ambience reigns in the mountains and valleys, there is the mutual assistance at the refreshment posts and life bases, the conviviality shared by all the communes through which the race passes and along the paths around Mont-Blanc, without forgetting the crazy energy at the moment of the starts and finishes. This energy is provided by you, you who have never stopped dreaming, who have trained hard just to get to the end of the adventure. In those moments, there is something in your eyes and those of the admiring public who applaud you.
B
as in Brave Each of you is a fighter. Whatever the distance, whether your event is 15 or 300 km, whether you run for two hours or whether you will be engaged in an adventure which lasts several days (PTL®), you have a challenge to overcome and a personal story to write. Behind each participation, there are personal motivations and above all a lot of desire to succeed. For many it will be a baptism of fire it will seem that you will not make it, there will be moments of doubt and discouragement, there will be highs and lows, excitement and fatigue, intense moments and bad patches. In any case, there will be the satisfaction of having given your all, of having been brave and of having done your best..

THE DNA OF UTMB®
AN ORIGINAL CO-ORGANIZATION
solidarity
It is a peculiarity which is totally a part of the event’s history and success. For 15 years the UTMB® has been co-organized by an association, Les Trailers du Mont-Blanc, and a limited company, Autour du Mont-Blanc. In order to understand this novel organization it is necessary to return to 2004 when an association Les Trailers du Mont-Blanc and a limited company Autour du Mont-Blanc were created, so as to develop together, each with their own domains of competence, the event by allying professionalism and enthusiasm.
environment
Since 2004, 15 people have been responsible for making the association active all year long under the impulse of René Bachelard historic president of the Trailers du Mont-Blanc, and a distinguished runner. From 2006, 3400 people requested a place and 2500 runners were on the starting line. In three years, the number of runners had multiplied by 3! Faced by this influx of requests, the organization decided to offer the first solidarity registrations through an association supported by the race (UTMB® et CCC®). Solidarity, with respect for oneself and others but also equity, are a part of the numerous fundamental values shared by the organization’s team in order to stay on course and to make progress. To adapt to the evolution of the event, commissions were developed within the heart of the association in order to combine the thoughts and ideas. So, this is how, according to the needs, the environment commission (2006), the medical commission (2007) and also the solidarity commission, the itinerary commission and the volunteers’ commission came to be set up. Each commission works alongside the organization to respect the values and ethics of the UTMB®.
equity
respect each other
The solidarity race-bibs were truly successful, and prove that surpassing oneself addresses a collective and humanist dimension as well. By raising awareness amongst the runner's through the intermediaries of ambassadors of the environment and rehabilitating the paths used by the races, the environment commission is working sustainably in order to protect the natural heritage of the Mont-Blanc country. As for the medical commission, it is composed of doctors, researchers and paramedics who contributed to the setting up of the first health policy upon which the QUARTZ program was based. The commission assures that the practice remains healthy and balanced, by organizing research on pathologies encountered by runners and also by improving medical intervention during the event. Adding to that the itinerary commission, responsible for planning the routes for the event (alternative routes, PTL®…), so many parameters and indispensable ingredients for the UTMB®. Among the actions jointly carried out, by the association and the organization’s team, the integration and management of volunteers play an important part. These actions take place in the commission of volunteers who work intelligently with no fewer than 80 people responsible for different posts, as well as 2000 volunteers, for the success of the event. With the visible growth of the event the French, Italian and Swiss volunteers come together to experience the adventure. Over the years this has created a big family, and each year the association and the organization’s team arrange days out together on the terrain in France, Italy and Switzerland. This historic cooperation between the three countries is also seen at the heart of the association, thanks to a cochair ensured by Léon Lovey for Switzerland, Alberto Motta for Italy and Yann De Seréville for France.

RÈGLEMENT
U1 U8
Each runner will be supplied with 2 electronic chips and a bracelet. Certain control points are automatic, others are manual. Unexpected controls will be made by the organization. Those runners who are not permanently in possession of their chips and wrist-bands will be penalized.
RACE-BIBS Race-bib distribution will take place in Chamonix, Courmayeur, Orsières and Martigny-Combe according to your race and your choice. Attention: to claim your race-bib, you must go in person, armed with: photographic identification, your race pack and all your obligatory equipment. The race-bib must worn on the chest or stomach and must be permanently and completely visible throughout the duration of the race. The racebib must not be folded or cut. The race bib is the necessary pass to access shuttle buses, buses, refreshment posts, medical posts, rest areas, drop and pick-up areas for spares bags…The race-bib must not be removed. In the case of an abandonment, it is deactivated by a member of the organization.
Refreshments Only runners who are wearing a visible race-bib, on the chest or stomach, and their bracelets will be allowed in to the refreshment posts. The organization only supplies still water or energizing drinks for filling water bottles/reserves. The other drinks are exclusively for consumption in situ. 3 types of refreshments will be available: Refreshments of drinks only: plain water, sparkling water, energizing drinks, cola, coffee, tea, noodle soup. Complete refreshments: drinks (as above) + cereal or energizing bars, sweet cakes, chocolate, bananas, oranges, raisins, prunes, salty biscuits, cheese, salami, bread. Furthermore, a hot dish is offered in les Chapieux and in Courmayeur for the UTMB®, at Champex for the UTMB® and the CCC®, at the Cormet de Roselend for the TDS® (a glutenfree ration will be available upon request). An end of the race meal is served in Chamonix.
Personal portable cup Designed to avoid wastage of disposable cups throughout the race, each runner must provide their own, with a minimum capacity of 15cl. Attention, gourds/water bottles or water flasks with screw/clip top are not accepted as beakers!
BYOU
Control
Bring Your Own Utensils"
"
As from this year, the organization will not distribute any disposable cutlery, beakers/cups or bowls at the life bases and refreshment posts. You are asked to carry your own utensils if you wish to eat hot food (soup, pasta).
TIME BARRIERS The times are calculated to allow participants to finish the race in the compulsory maximum time. They are indicated on the various signs put at your disposal. The hour announced at the time barrier is the latest time at which competitors may leave the checkpoint. The organization can, if it is a question of safety, modify the time barriers. The runners will be notified by text message and/or email. At a crossing point, no runner can continue the race behind the sweepers.
SPARE BAGS
• UTMB
1 sack for personal affairs in Courmayeur. During the race, it is obligatory that you recuperate your sack in Courmayeur and then drop it off again in the appropriate area before leaving so that it can be returned to Chamonix. (Attention: no spares bags in Champex) • CCC® 1 sack to leave just before the start of the race with the belongings that you don’t need during the race and which you will find upon your arrival in Chamonix. • TDS® 2 sacks. 1 sack to be left before the start of the race with the belongings which you don’t need during the race, and which is repatriated to Chamonix. 1 sack (not obligatory) for spare personal belongings at the Cormet de Roselend. During the race, you obligatorily recuperate your sack upon arrival at the Cormet de Roselend and then leave in the area provided for this as you leave and it will be repatriated to Chamonix. The 2 bags are to be left in the proximity of the starting line. • OCC 1 sack to leave just before the start of the race with the belongings that you don’t need during the race and which you will find upon your arrival in Chamonix. • MCC 1 sack to leave just before the start of the race with the belongings that you don’t need during the race and which you will find upon your arrival in Chamonix. Neither walking poles, nor fragile or valuable objects, are to be placed in these bags. Only the bags provided by the organization will be permitted. Any delay in their repatriation is due to logistical constraints. A bag can be late in regard to the runner, in particular in the case of abandonment early in the race. Thank you for being patient and respecting the work of the volunteers. ®
Balisage The way markers will be made of a yellow reflective material so that they catch the beam of your torch better at night. Since 2017, the organization’s team has used green way-markers. They are to remind you that you are moving through a naturally fragile zone. ATTENTION: if you can’t see any more markers retrace your steps! Paint restriction: with respect for the environment no paint will be used on the paths.
YOUR HEALTH PAGE By completing your health page, you can be assured that if necessary, the doctors will have all the relevant information to make their intervention rapid and optimal. It should be noted that the information supplied on your health page is confidential. Only a doctor can access it should they need to treat you. Rendezvous on your runner’s page to complete your health page.

personal assistance Personal assistance is tolerated only at certain refreshment posts (*). You may only be assisted by one person and only in the zone specifically reserved for this purpose upon the presentation of an "assistance" ticket and with the agreement of the chief of post (the rest of the refreshment post is reserved exclusively for runners). The " Assistance " tickets are supplied to you in your race-bib envelope. Runners are then free to give each ticket to the person of their choice. 1 ticket per assistance post - 1 ticket = 1 person Your assistant has the right to one piece of hand luggage (a bag with a maximum volume of 30 liters) in which to transport the necessary products (food, clothing…). Assistance given by a team professional, or any other professional person, medical or paramedical – even if they are a parent - is strictly forbidden. This measure is taken to ensure equity amongst all the runners, and to avoid the refreshment posts
becoming like Formula 1 race pits. This does not stop your family and friends supporting you along the way. Simply, so that everything runs smoothly, we ask you to respect the instructions given by the chiefs of posts. (*) Personal assistance is tolerated at the following posts: UTMB®: Les Contamines, Courmayeur, Champex, Trient, Vallorcine CCC®: Champex, Trient, Vallorcine TDS®: Bourg St Maurice, Les Contamines It is forbidden at all other refreshment posts and all other points along the race route. OCC, MCC: no assistance is allowed at any point along the raceroute
ACCOMPANYING ALONG THE ROUTE
Repatriation
Again to insure equality between competitors, whatever their position, it is forbidden to be accompanied during all or part of the race by a person who is not a participant, outside of the zones of tolerance which are clearly marked in proximity to the refreshment posts. This authorizes short walks for all the family but forbids pace setters. Race stewards are positioned at several points along the route and can give real time penalties in the case of regulations which are not respected.
The organization can not ensure repatriation by car or 4x4 (except for a medical reason or on the decision of the post organizer). Runners who abandon at a post in the mountains must, as soon as possible, and by their own means, go to the nearest point of repatriation where the organization’s buses are available.
Rest and showers You may have a hot shower uniquely at the finish. Along the race route, showers are only obtainable upon medical advice. The rest areas put at runner’s disposition by the race organization, are strictly reserved for runners during the race or to those who have just finished their race. They in no way constitute the solution for an entire night’s accommodation.
Abandonment Except in the case of injury, you can not abandon anywhere except at a control point. It is therefore IMPERATIVE that you inform the chief of post, who will definitively invalidate your race-bib and remove the electronic chip from your backpack. The runner keeps his invalidated race bib because it is still his pass for shuttles, buses, meals, care rooms. Repatriation will be decided on by the post leader, based on the following general rules: • Buses are available from certain refreshment posts indicated by a pictogram “bus” on the event route maps to repatriate runners, who abandon, back to Chamonix.
•
•
RESPECTING THE REGULATIONS AND THE RACE STEWARDS As in previous years, the volunteers are there to help you, but also to see that the rules are respected by everybody. Among them are the Commissaires de Course (race stewards), certain of whom will have specific duties notably for all which concerns the immediate application of real time penalties due to the lack of respect of the rules. It is important to understand that the penalties in stopping times are applied during the race! For those in the lead this represents a possible descent in the ranking, and for those at the back of the field this could mean missing the next time barrier. The Race Stewards have the right to check your mandatory equipment at the start and at different points along the route. If you are missing an element of the mandatory safety equipment (no minimum water reserve of a minimum of 1 liter, no waterproof jacket with hood, no torch, no survival blanket, no mobile/cell phone) you will be immediately disqualified. To know more about the penalties, see the complete rules at www.utmbmontblanc.com For the most important cases, this will be decided with the race directors.
Runners who abandon at another rescue or refreshment post but whose state of health does not necessitate being evacuated must get back as quickly as possible and by their own means to the closest repatriation point. In case of abandonment before a control point, it is imperative to return to the previous control point and inform the post leader of one’s abandonment. If, during this return, the runner meets the end of race sweepers, it is them who invalidate the race bib. The runner is then no longer under the organization’s control.
New: for better information feedback, you can also declare your abandonment via the LiveRun by LiveTrail® app. However, be aware that the abandonment procedure previously outlined also applies to runners who use this app..
Environment Help us to conserve the natural surroundings; do not drop your litter along the race route. We all share the responsibility of keeping our play-ground clean. Do not forget to have bag in which to transport your rubbish between two rubbish-bin points.
ARE YOU SPONSORED? That’s great but you can strictly only display it on your clothes and equipment used during the race. No flags in the name of X, or banners for Y.

REGulations Mandatory equipment At the end of August, in the Mont-Blanc country, the weather can change very quickly. In these conditions it is difficult to forecast the weather conditions in the mountains in a very precise or complete manner. So as to be always ready for the reality on the ground, and in order not to burden you unnecessarily, the organization has added three kits to the list of mandatory equipment. The "heat-wave", "winter" and "bad weather' kits are integrally a part of the obligatory equipment. According to the weather conditions, the organisers can activate a kit and inform each participant before the opening of the race-bib distribution for their race. Each participant must therefore present their obligatory equipment, including the kit activated by the organisers, in order to retrieve their race-bib, and agree to keep it with them throughout the event.

Security
Even the best runners are not sheltered from injury which may immobilize them during the night, in the cold under snow, or rain in the midst of the mountains. However, do not forget that various hazards, linked to the environment and the race, could mean that you have to wait longer for help than you might expect. So as to evolve through your race in good conditions, here is our safety advices.
Environment & weather

Fatigue and vigilance
The UTMB® races are all races which take place in open country, in mountainous terrain, with some remote areas (roads, telecommunications…) with weather conditions which can change very fast even at the end of August (snow, hail, fog, heat (>30°) or intense cold (<-10°), violent wind). Advice along the route: • Do not stop at high points • If you lose sight of the way-markers: turn round and go back to the previous marker • Stay on the paths
Rest areas are available at refreshment posts for a few moments sleep. It is dangerous to stop to sleep alone in open country. Fatigue and the lack of vigilance can be the cause of an accident. Run within your limits (above all over the first part) keeping your energy for later to surmount difficult situations which may arise such as a sudden change of weather conditions.
Know that: using you sleep race-bib (to be found in your race-bib envelope) you can rest without being disturbed. While you are running, it makes dialogue with other runners easier because it displays your first name and nationality. Then, if you wish to sleep for a short while, you just turn it over!!
Equipment Some common sense reminders for facing difficult weather conditions: • Anticipate the cold as well as extreme heat • Don’t wait to shiver before covering yourself up • Don’t change in full wind: anticipate or wait to be sheltered • Protect yourself against the sun Walking poles: watch what you do with your poles particularly at the beginning of the race when there is a high human density. Do not wear the wrist straps on the descents: in case of a rough fall wrist-straps prevent the suitable use of the hands (injuries to shoulders, wrists, forearm or more seriously the head)
OBLIGATORY INDIVIDUAL INSURANCE We would like to remind you that it is obligatory to be in possession of individual accident insurance which covers any eventual costs for search and rescue In France, Italy and Switzerland. (Repatriation by helicopter costs between 800 and 3000 euros). Such an insurance policy may be taken out with the organization of your choice. For those runners who are members of the ITRA it is now possible to subscribe to an Assistance -Repatriation insurance which will cover any search and rescue costs world-wide. More information at www.itra.run
Eating & dRINKING Hydration and the consumption of energising snacks must be adapted to the meteorological conditions and enriched in salt throughout the effort. Keep a good balance between slow and rapid release sugars. Find our health advices on www.utmbmontblanc.com
ALERT IN AN EMERGENCY
Telephone network available:
Telephone network unavailable:
1 Contact race HQ on the emergency number +33 4 50 53 47 51 OR The emergency priority number 112 (FR - IT) 144 (CH)
Alert a member of the organization OR other competitors
2
Send your position via LiveRun by LiveTrail® It is mandatory that you don’t leave a person in difficulty alone
LIVERUN The app is an interface reference for your security, while at the same time giving you precious information about the race (follow your race and that of your friends in real time). In the case of SOS, this function sends, via text message, your GPS position to the organization. This represents a precious time gain in getting help to you. Attention however, it will not be a substitute for phoning the race HQ (PC Course)
A mobile/cell phone is mandatory: With the international optional activated throughout the duration of the race, with the battery in working order. In no circumstances put your phone in airplane mode because we need to be able to contact you before, during and after the event. Smartphones are highly recommended for using the LiveRun by LiveTrail® app which is indispensable for your safety. For runners who are going to be running for more than 15 hours, an external battery is strongly recommended.
9
Check that the number that you have given us as an emergency contact number is that of the person who you wish to be contacted in the case of a problem. Very important: In order to improve any medical intervention in the case of an incident, verify that you have submitted, on your runners’ page, the telephone number that you will be using during the race. You can update it until the start of your race.

The UTMB® and ECO-RESPONSIBILITY Organizers, runners, accompanying persons and supporters, we are here because we love the mountains, be vigilant so as to protect our play-ground!
G.E.S.I. the eco-responsible charter of Grands Evénements Sportifs Internationaux One of the first signatories in 2017, the UTMB® signed up for 3 years in order to develop its actions on the 3 pillars of sustainable development (economic, social and environmental) alongside the French Minister for the Young and Sports.
Protected natural areas The UTMB® races cross through protected natural zones and areas: 5 Nature reserves A nature reserve is an area which constitutes a reservoir of remarkable and fragile bio-diversity. In the Haute Savoie, they are managed by the association ASTERS (the Conservatory of the Haute Savoie’s natural areas). 6 Natura 2000 sites Natura 2000 is a European program creating a network of land and marine sites identified for the rarity or the fragility of the wild animal or plant species, and their habitats. 1 Franc district In the Swiss territory the Franc districts have the aim of the protection and conservation of rare and threatened wild mammals and birds as well as the protection and conservation of their habitats.
SandSi Since its creation in 2017, the UTMB® has been with " Sport and Sustainability International", an international federation whose mission is to gather together the whole international community of sport and sustainability around means of implementing to the maximum sports’ good environmental, social and economic actions.
RESPECT THE RULES OF THE NATURE RESERVES!
Transport The organization has, since 2004, put in place a free communal transport network for the runners and a service adapted for accompanying persons and supporters. The advantages: For the runners: less stressful, less tiring, the guarantee of being on time for the start (CCC®, TDS®, OCC, MCC) For accompanying persons: not getting lost, not having to look for a parking lot, being dropped near the refreshment post, the guarantee of being on time for giving your assistance, less stressful, less tiring. It is also less onerous than with you own vehicle, in particular for going through the tunnel to Italy. So many good reasons for traveling by bus.
12
sign-posting In order to better understand the natural environment in which you evolve, we have created a specific sign-posting system. So, as you approach a herd/flock of animals or a naturally fragile zone, you will be informed by the sign-posts
50 Mt
Herds/flocks On approaching these zones, pay particular attention to your comportment so as not to frighten the animals: don’t wave your arms or poles, don’t shout and slow down.
BYOU
Gates Certain routes cross through fenced pastures, please would you close any gates/ barriers behind you.
Sticks Hiking sticks are forbidden in certain fragile sectors to avoid degradation of the site
No more plastic at the refreshment posts
To reduce consumption of plastic, both by runners and UTMB volunteers, and therefore limit your carbon footprint and your waste production, the organization will not distribute any more disposable crockery (cutlery, beakers, bowls) at the life bases and the refreshment posts (this is the same for the volunteers). This action called " Bring Your Own Utensils " (BYOU) was inaugurated at the Vibram Hong Kong 100 in January 2018. You are, therefore, invited to bring you own utensils if you wish to eat hot food at the refreshment posts..
WASTE MANAGEMENT
®
• Individual beaker To reduce waste, the UTMB® has, since 2006, included a reusable beaker into the list of mandatory equipment. • Transporting your waste We ask each trail-runner to keep their waste with them between refreshment posts, fruit skins included. You will find trash bins at each refreshment post for waste disposal. When leaving the post you will find, about 100m after the post, the last trash bin (marked with a sign). Small trash bags are distributed at race-bib distribution, they are for containing used toilet paper and other soiled trash like open gel containers, or film which has contained food. Prioritize the use of rechargeable batteries and if that is not possible, do not abandon used batteries: special containers are at your disposition at the refreshment posts. • The sorting of waste Each UTMB® volunteer has been made aware of sorting waste, and everything is done to recycle any waste. • The UTMB® uses the services of specialists in this domain from the local region: AREMACS: the association which manages waste, and the sorting of it, in Chamonix. Elise Alpes: which specializes in collecting and sorting, it recuperates the plastic beakers which we collect from the first refreshment posts of each race (the flow of runners is too great and very concentrated) so that they can be recycled in to protheses or small electrical goods.
Fragile sectors You are requested to stay on the principle paths so as to protect the nature around you, avoid aggravating the erosion or disturbing the protected flora and fauna.
responsible purchases We give priority to services and products which are derived from the Espace Mont-Blanc, to avoid unnecessary transportation and to involve local players. The refreshment posts provide regional products, and certain of them are organically produced. In a country where spring water is abundant, we prioritize this resource which economizes on the use of 8000 plastic bottles and their transportation.
raising awareness Ambassadors for the environment You are going to meet, during your trip around Mont-Blanc, some ambassadors for the environment who have the mission of helping you and accompanying you in the action of protecting the environment as well as raising the awareness amongst the supporters. Be aware, they can also sanction you in the case of not respecting the regulations. Communications, dematerialization We optimize the use of the internet to limit the amount of printed paper. All the documents are available to download from each runner’s personal page.

Every summer Courmayeur lives up to its reputation as a major center for trail and ultra-trail running, with many competitions held at high altitude on the mountain trails winding their way around the highest summit in Europe. From July to September, Courmayeur hosts the most exciting challenges of the season. Summertime can be enjoyed to the fullest by retracing the footsteps of amazing racers, all those trail-running champions who, throughout the entire season, come to Courmayeur to train and compete in some of the most intense and long awaited competitions at an international level. An incredibly rich trail running calendar includes the Gran Trail Courmayeur, the Courmayeur Mont Blanc SkyRace, the UTMB® and the Tor des Géants®. These races take place amid spectacular scenery at the foothills of Mont Blanc, with stunning mountain views and breathtaking natural beauty. Courmayeur will host the prestigious UTMB®, the race that attracts the international trail running elite to the foothills of Mont Blanc: of the 5 scheduled competitions, 3 directly involve Courmayeur as the starting point of the TDS® and of the CCC® ‒ two of the major races ‒ and as a key stage on the route of the UTMB®. Valais offers almost endless possibilities for sport activities like mountain biking, road cycling or running. Up high peaks, through fragrant larch forests, along watercourses, over suspended bridges, by mule paths or vineyard trails. Over 8000 kilometres of signposted hiking paths wait to be explored. Countless high routes and circuits lead through lush alpine meadows, across rushing mountain streams, past deepblue tarns and up peaks with magnificent views. Valais features exciting events from all areas of sporting activity. There’s something for everyone, whether as passive observers or active participants, and every event is best in class. With a wonderful atmosphere and breathtaking scenery guaranteed.

The Aosta Valley with its four 4.000 m. peaks (Mont-Blanc, Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso), natural parks, alpine lakes, landscapes and welcoming mountain huts is an alpine region where sportmen and mountain enthousiasts can find their perfect playground. It is a region situated in the heart of Europe, nestled amongst three countries (Italy, France, Switzerland), whose traditions and culture contribute to a strong, peculiar and well-preserved Alpine identity. In this context, the UTMB® is much more than a sporting event for the Aosta Valley: it is an opportunity to work in partnership with its French and Swiss friends and to raise awareness of its natural heritage. .

FOR 120 YEARS, RENAULT HAS BEEN COMMITTED TO MAKING ITS CUSTOMERS’ LIVES EASIER EVERY DAY. Since its formation 120 years ago Renault has had three lives. That of the company’s founder, that of the Régie Nationale des Usines Renault, wholly owned by the French State, and that of Renault SA. Nevertheless, these three lives form a single experience, the life of a car manufacturer that has always deftly adapted to changing times, changing societies, and evolving economies. Passion has always been the Groupe Renault’s driving force as we continue to innovate and develop mobility solutions for all. This is also why millions of consumers, business users and top-level sportspeople choose Renault. Finally, it is this passion that inspires us when we seek to associate ourselves with sporting and cultural events around the world. And it is it who has led us to link naturally for 3 years with the UTMB®.

On August 14th, 1962, after 20 years of study and work, and several centuries of hope, an ultimate blow of a pickaxe allowed the French and Italian workers to meet under the massif of Mont- Blanc: a door had just opened on a new human, cultural and economic space. Today, the European Group of Economic Interest of the Mont-Blanc Tunnel, the society involved with the exploitation of this work which is equipped with the most modern means of security, is proud to give its support to the organisers and competitors of the UTMB® who are led by the same will, and by the same courage as those who allowed its realization.

official supports Tingerlaat Skin Care The aim of Tingerlaat: to satisfy all users in all situations. You as an athletes will not adapt to the products, the products will adapt to you. We know that it is unrealistic to impose a trail-runner to stop every 2 hours to apply sunscreen... Apply Tingerlaat in the morning on clean, dry skin and create you homogeneous, breathable film that will resists water, sweat and friction throughout your day. Try Tingerlaat at the UTMB® and adopt the sunscreen to save your skin and your health. The Flash-sport team, a partner of the UTMB® since the beginning, will once again be present to immortalize the trail runners’ exploits in photographic images. 10 photographers will be present all along the routes of the UTMB®, CCC® and TDS®, from early morning to nightfall, to photograph their efforts and encourage each participant… from the first to the last. What is more formidable for our photographers than being able to associate, through our images, the sporting values which we find in trail running and the beauty of the nature to which we are subjected around Mont Blanc.
