The Publication Format The publication will be bound within a ‘Z-Bind. This consists of a dual bind within one publication, meaning it has two text blocks. This works well for the purpose of this publication as the two publications will follow on from each other.
The publication will use two front covers, the first being a hard cover on the outside, which is made by laser cutting into greyboard. The second is a soft front cover on the first page of the publication, this uses the same aspects of the hard cover but in a digital design.
For the hard covers of the publication I have made them by laser cutting the design into greyboard and then using a coloured stock behind it to distinguish the two seperate publications. The colour used also runs throughout the publications again to make it more consistent and distinguish the two publications. For the soft front covers the idea behind this was to create a more creative front cover that fit in with the content of the publication, to make it more defined. To do this i have used the initial hard cover design but added the colour of the publication and a black and white image which ties in with the content.
Sample Pack The Sample pack is the second product to my Print Manual. This is to aid the second publication, so that there is actual examples of the different processes and finishes that are talked about within the publication.
Material: Thick uncoated stock
Within the sample pack there will be three different sections: - Finishes - Printing Methods - Stock The pack is designed around these three areas and is a tri-fold folder. Each panel holds the different samples in a pocket.
Front cover: Greyboard with coloured stock behind.
The design of the front of the sample pack will be the same as the publication, as it will be laser cut using the same material and design, except it will change to number 3 and be called ‘sample pack’.
Size: A4 Orientation: Portrait
Coloured Stock: Green or Yellow

Publication Design The design of the spreads within the publications are meant to be clean and simple to follow. I wanted them to take on a sort of instructional style, hence how it is split up and uses the lines to seperate each section. I felt this was a good way to display the text because it is an explanation and informing the readers about the subject. It is also a good way to split the spreads up for the relevant content and make it easy to read and follow. The images within the publication are all created by using a halftone and also using the layer options to overlay the colour of the publication over the top of them. I have decided to do it like this because i wanted everything to run together and be consistent throughout the publication, having them all the same colour works for this.
