DAYS 1–3 I BANGKOK, THAILAND/ THIMPHU, BHUTAN After a night in Bangkok, travel to the Bhutanese capital of Thimphu. On a private tour of the city, visit the Folk Heritage Museum, a replica of a traditional farmhouse. Observe artists creating handmade paper at the Jungshi Paper Factory, and walk alongside local families to a 12th-century temple where newborn babies are blessed. Hike to the colorful Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten temple, overlooking the Punakha Valley, and explore the elaborately designed fortress of Punakha Dzong. DAYS 6–9 I PARO/BANGKOK, THAILAND Travel through the picturesque Paro Valley and visit Jangtsa Dumtseg Lhakhang, uniquely designed in the style of a chorten. Settle into your hotel that embodies Bhutanese architecture and spirituality. Visit the National Museum of Bhutan and the impressive Paro Dzong.
