Summer time is here and it is time to get to work on the seeds we have planted all Spring. One thing I have learned about life is being intuned with nature and going with the flow of the seasons.
How do you do that you say? Well its simple lets start with the first season of the year Winter. Yes! I said Winter, this is the beginning of every new year. This time is considered the time of conception. It is the time where we can reflect on the past and visualize on the new goals we want to manifest for the upcoming year.
When the winter months have passed it is time for Spring. During this time we can begin to taking our visualized goals from the winter and begin planting them into the fertile soil of our minds. Think of your goals as flowers in the Winter everything dies off to be reborn in the Spring. When you think of Spring you notice that there is alot of rain thats needed to nourish the soil to give birth to our new seeds. So when you think of Spring know that this is the time to put things in place so your visualized goal can begin to manifest and take form.
Now after the Spring months have passed it is time for Summer this is the time for action. This is the time that the flowers begin to grow . When it comes to your goals it is the time for you to put in the work so your goals can flourish similuar to a garden. A good gardener knows they have to tend to their garden everyday, they have to pull weeds, water and protect their plants (goals) from harsh weather conditions , bugs and critter who love to snack in your garden. This is the same for your goals. And finally when Summer has passed it is time to collect on all of your hard work and this is the season we call Fall The Harvest time. The saying is you reap what you sow, so I hope that you are busy this Summer making your goals a reality. So you can reap an abundant harvest and accomplish all of your dreams. I hope you enjoy this newest issue of Natural Woman Magazine especially my interview with Hip Hop Icon Chingy among several other articles in this issue. Thank you for reading!

What’s Your Love Langue?: Understanding How to Love When it comes to love and relationships everyone has a different way that they show love. The problem with most relationships is that the way we love may not be the way our partner may wants love or understands our love. There is no one way to love and we all have a particular way that we love. This is why understanding Love Langugues is essential when it comes to building relationships. You may think your lover may not love you because he or she doesn’t say I love you verbally all the time. But that may not be how they show their love. The love language are the ways we show love and interpret love back. It’s the language we speak when are
expressing love. Because the action of loving is different for everyone. There is room for misinterpretations and people can mistake that for lack of connection or I don’t love you back. While there several ways to love here are the most common love langugues Words of Affirmation: This language is all about vocally affirming your loved ones. Think lot’s of “I love you,” “You’re so awesome,” “I’m so proud of you.” Acts of Service: For some people, actions speak louder than words. Instead of having a partner gush about their love, people with this
love language would show it by volunteering to do a chore, offering up an indulgent massage, or making dinner. Receiving Gifts: Gifts are another way to the heart. It’s not necessarily about dropping a lot of cash— even little gifts like picking up a favorite magazine at the grocery store or bringing home a partner’s fave flavor of kombucha can speak volumes. Quality Time: For some lovers, getting undvided attention is the best gift of all. People with this love language feel most loved when their partner switches into airplane mode for date night. Physical Touch: Pretty self explanatory. Sometimes nothing says I love you like holding hands, sharing a shower, or a good old-fashioned makeout session. (Make physical touch more romantic with the Intimate Earth Massage Oil from the Women’s Health Boutique.) WHAT’S MY LOVE LANGUAGE? To figure out which category you fall into, ask yourself when you feel most loved in your relationship. Is it when your partner sends you a romantic text? When they prioritize spending the whole day with you on Saturday? Make a list of the top three things your partner does that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and ask your partner to do the same thing. You will probably start to notice a pattern.

BBQ Tempeh Bowl
By Kathy Patalsky
Ingredients 2 cups leafy greens (baby lettuces used) 4 ounces tempeh, sliced into thin triangles 2 Tbsp BBQ sauce (bottled or homemade) - smoky-sweet flavor 1/2 small sweet onion, diced 1/2 avocado, diced 1/4 cup sprouts 1 tangerine, peeled and sliced segments 1 cup baked or grilled, cubed sweet potato Super Easy Vegan Ranch: 1 Tbsp vegan mayo 2 Tbsp lemon juice 1 tsp maple syrup a few pinches of black pepper (a pinch for the dressing and a pinch for the skillet onions) 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil, for pan
When oil is hot, add the tempeh triangles to one side of the pan, the onion to the other. Saute for two minutes, then flip triangles. When flipped, you can smother the tempeh in the BBQ sauce. Cook for another 1-3 minutes, or until the edges begin to blacken. Flip a few more times during this cooking process. Flip the onions a few times as well - trying not to get too much BBQ sauce on them. Tip: If the tempeh gets too dry in the pan add a teaspoon or two of water. In your serving bowl, add the leafy greens. Tip: If you want more flavor, toss your greens in oil + vinegar or lemon juice before plating. But the bowl as is has loads of flavor for those greens. Then top with the warm skillet tempeh, onions, sprouts, citrus, avocado and sweet potato.

Chingy exploded on the hip hop scene in 2003 with his smash hit “Right Thurr” that charted number 2 for 4 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. Making Chingy an instant Hip Hop go to in the early 2000’s. Chingy has also brought us several millennial classics like “Holidae In,” “One Call Away” featuring J-Weav, “Balla Baby” and more recently, “Pullin’ Me Back” featuring Tyrese and “Dem Jeans featuring Jermaine Dupri.” Chingy has made his way back onto the mainstream scene by joining the list of act featured on the 2019 Millennium Tour featuring B2K, Mario, Pretty Ricky, Lloyd, Bobby V, and the Ying Yang Twins. Since the takeover of social media platforms artist and entertainers have the chance to show their fans more personal side to themselves and if you have been following Chingy you will definitely see that he a very enlightened spiritual being. I had the chance to sit down and chat it up with Chingy about the tour, music, and his spiritual beliefs.
Azizah: How does it feel to be back on the road with some of the hottest entertainment acts of the early 2000’s? Chingy: Well I never left from being on N AT U R A L W O M A N M A G A Z I N E | S U M M E R 2 0 19
the road, I’m always on the road performing. But it is great to be on this tour with some great artist who has made some classic music that has stood the test of time. I appreciate this moment to be a part of this tour with so many great acts from B2k, Mario, Lloyd, Ying Yang Twins, Bobby Valentino people still vibe to their music today. Azizah How has your fans responded to Chingy coming back, well not back… because you never left.
Chingy: No, I get what you are saying because people get things construed when you are not constantly on the radio or doing late night talk shows. They think you are washed up or have fallen off, but I have always continued to do my thing. I was a huge radio artist so when they don’t hear me on the radio they think I’m missing or something, but I love the fans they have really supported me on the tour. Azizah: One of the reasons I was so eager to interview you was because I watch your Vlad Tv interview. I was intrigued to know how spiritually enlightened you are. I was also surprised at the backlash
NATU RA L WOMA N MAGA ZINE | S P R IN G 2 0 1 9
you received from so many people trying to deem you as crazy because they didn’t understand what you were talking about. Chingy: Yeah that was ignorant, but I don’t have anything against those people just don’t try to make a fool of someone who speaks on things you do not understand. Go find out and do some research before you start to go in on someone. Azizah: How did you move into the state of enlightenment from being a Hip Hop artist in the music industry? Chingy: I have always been enlighten ever since I was a little kid. I went to school for metaphysics and have degrees in astronomy, astrology, and numerology. It has always been something I have been interested in understanding the oracles of life from without and within. One of my teachers was Dr. Phil Valentine I went to his school he enlightened me on a lot of things in addition to learning things on my own. Azizah: So how do you add this sense of spirituality to your music?
Chingy: I make music universal, I like to make all kinds of music. I do make my music conscious by speaking on certain issues and enlightening people as well. So I incorporate it to my music a lot if you are on it you will catch it. Azizah: How do you feel about the shift in
music today? Chingy: Actually when you think about it music hasn’t really shifted to something new. People are into what we call the trap sound and when you talk about trap music you have to go into the history of it. Trap music goes back farther than what they are doing now, they are using trap music now but they are mixing it with T Pain, Lil’ Wayne, singy rap, auto tune sounds the market is being oversaturated with these sounds. Also, no one is being authentic and I mean this in a way of no disrespect, everyone is following a fad. There is no originality today like when I was coming up you had to be different now it the goal is to sound like everyone else. But the sound never changes all the elements have always been there, it’s just how it been done that makes it different. Azizah: I follow you on IG and I saw a post where you spoke on Micheal Jackson and the disturbing documentary that was put out about him, can you share your thoughts on that? Chingy: Micheal Jackson is the reason I am Chingy he is the reason why I entertain. I don’t see how people can take a humble soul who gave us so much music, entertained the hell out of us, a man who was a great being on this earth and try to destroy him because he began speaking the truth to what is really going on in the world. They had to destroy him to the people who looked like him so we can turn our backs against him. How can you come out with a movie to totally sabotage this man and he can’t even speak on it? I always loved music, but Micheal Jackson is the reason why I entertain he inspired
me. Azizah: That’s something to think about because when you look back on MJ’s career you will notice a decline with his mainstream popularity when his music became more of a message. Chingy: This is how they do, the decline of his career began to happen when they started to accuse him of messing with little kids. I take that personal because I was lied on and put in a situation where that happened to me. When it comes to melanated men in this business to take them down its always a situation where they are accused of messing with children, being gay, messing with transgenders, or you abuse women its always those things. It’s sad because they are making us the face of that, I think the masses have to really dig deep when they are given news. You can’t just take the surface of things given to you, you have to go deep and research what is really going on. Azizah: Give me your 3 tips of advice you can pass to the next person Chingy: Think for yourself, we were all taught how to think, but we were not taught to think. Secondly gather information, research, and analyze information you can add to your life to enhance it. Lastly, make sure you got your business right.
Back 2 Natural: Western Medicine vs. East Medicine When it comes to healing there are many routes a person can take to get to the raod to health. Most of all routes to healing fall under the relam of Western Medicine or Eastern Medicine. Western medicine has been under attack for being “dangerous,” “unnecessary” and otherwise “unnatural”. Eastern medicine is under scrutiny because there truly isn’t a lot of medical research supporting it. Breaking down the science Western medicine, otherwise known as orthodox medicine, is the traditional practice of healthcare that most of us are familiar with. This is the system in which
doctors and other healthcare professionals see patients and treat their symptoms with the use of prescription medications, surgical operation, various forms of therapy and radiation. Eastern medicine takes an entirely different approach from western, relying on the bond between mind, body and spirit. Also known as “alternative medicine,” this practice can include a variety of spiritual activities such as meditation, acupuncture, and tai chi. Rather than relying on pharmaceutical drugs, tests and operations, eastern medicine relies on natural resources, like teas, herbs and essential oils drawn from the extract of fruits, vegetables and spices.
Advantages & Disadvantages An advantage of western medicine is that it is made effective quickly. Injured patients can go to an emergency room and find the cause of their medical problem along with the solution within Want a few hours thanks to the use of laboratories, X-Rays and other Natural procedures. Acupuncture has become increasingly efficient in dealing with issues like nicotine addiction, depression and joint pain. The practice has become so popular because everyone can partake without fear of negative interactions with other medicines, foods, or beverages – something to be cautious of with western pharmaceuticals. Some disadvantages of eastern medicine is that it will not be effective in emergency cases, such as car accidents or natural disasters. At the same time, this practice might not work for everyone. The Sacred Lover Modern Practices of Sacred Sexuality By: Azizah Nubia I must say Sexual Healing is something that’s good for me, as the late great Marvin Gaye said in his song Sexual Healing. If your anything like I was (5 years ago) you would have not of had any clue to what he was talking about. But through my journey of self discovery I have learned to embrace my sexual nature. And become one with it. We have grown from our divine way of living as queens on this planet and have lost the connection with our divine self. We must repair our relationship with our sexual nature, embrace our sexual energy and use its creative powers in ways that will be of service to the planet and others. MODERN PRACTICES OF SACRED SEXUALITY (Excerpt from: Sacred Sexuality–A Manual for Living Bliss by: Michael Mirdad) States:
The model of modern sacred sexuality has the same theme, or goal, as its predecessors, but with two primary differences. First, today’s arts of sacred sex are a melting pot, or synthesis, of the more ancient practices. Second, because of the prevalence of sexual abuse and generations of sexual repression, the future for practicing true sacred sexuality includes a greater emphasis on sexual issues and healing. This healing is necessary to make room within a person’s being for a greater quantity and higher quality of energetic ecstasy. In an age when people believe that “more is better,” it’s no wonder men and women obsess over shallow levels of sexual relations and feel pressured to have orgasms, or even multiple orgasms. Yet, people actually need to move in the opposite direction–slow down, relax, and heal the inhibitions, fears,
and traumas causing the constrictions that prevent the fullest release and best experience possible. To experience the most profound levels of sexual ecstasy, you must be willing to release, even if only temporarily, the drive for explosive orgasms and surrender to a quest for self-discovery and healing.
2. The most profound experience of sex begins with individual self-awareness and healing.
Additionally, in modern times, with so much information available on sexuality, there is a growing eclectic approach to sacred sex. People are able to pick and choose the best from all of the ancient arts of sexuality. There is also a growing use of the sexual arts for healing, especially for issues like sexual abuse. Consequently, as people heal, they begin to experience themselves and others differently.
4. Foreplay is an important part of intimacy and should begin with an awareness of your partner’s body and needs.
The sexual healing process involves learning the difference between healthy (spiritually- centered) and unhealthy (ego-centered) sexual encounters. For example, there are numerous characteristics that differentiate an ego-centered encounter from a sacred sexual one. The former involves a search for pleasure and the fulfillment of a sense of lack, while the latter is based on sharing of expansiveness, freedom, and unconditional love. The ego-centered encounter involves judgment, control, and selfish agendas. It’s motivated by the need to capture and possess a desired person (or object) who eventually becomes unfulfilling, which leads to the search for yet another person (or object). However, in a spiritual encounter, all relationships are seen as mirrors of the self, while the heart remains open to freely express and receive love without possessiveness. This freedom creates a feeling of inner peace and fills the body with trembling vibrations or waves of energy. Ultimately, each new (spiritually focused) sexual encounter is a fresh and loving experience that reflects the presence of the whole universe. “Love is the secret key; it opens the door to the divine. Laugh, love, be alive, dance, sing, be- come a hollow bamboo and let His song flow through you.” –Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh Although no single set of guidelines for practicing sacred sexuality is right for everyone, some common principles include the following: 1. Sex is one of the most powerful manifestations of intimacy and love.
3. Safety is a crucial part of an intimate, ecstatic experience.
5. Sacred sexuality means paying more attention to prayer, meditation, environment, aromas, music, breathing, clothing, and intimate contact (smiling, kissing, gazing, biting, tickling, and touching). 6. Sex is not the goal in sacred sexuality–love is! 7. Orgasms are not the goal of sacred sex, so relax and enjoy all feelings. 8. Sacred sexuality can enhance all sensations, including orgasms. 9. When approaching an orgasm, you can choose to experience various levels of ecstatic release. There are physical orgasms (ejaculations) and energetic orgasms (in-jaculations), as well as emotional, mental, and soul-level (total-being) orgasms.
