Circle Packing By determining minimum space requirement for each children or each elderly, the number of child/ elderly in each unit can be determined. For example, shaded circles in the diagram above represent space requirement for each child or elderly, the larger circle would represent total area for each specific function or interaction. The number of shaded circles show how many person can fit in the total area.
Grandparents Senior 60+
Gen Z 3-10 years old
Interactions between the two generations
Week 4 model- Miniumum space for child and elderly Week 4 model takes into account the minimum space requirement for child/ elderly in order to create specific size for each interaction space. In week 4 model, minimum space requirement for an elderly is assumed to be a circle of diameter 0.90 m, while a child’s is a circle of diameter 0.60 m.

A community which emerge from interactions between Gen Z children and Seniors The diagram show a variety of unit accommodating varying numbers of children and elderly. For example, a smallest unit might accommodate 2 grandparents with 3 Gen Z children, a larger unit might accommodate 3 grandparents with 4 Gen Z children. There are routes connecting between the elderly, and between the children so that they can also meet peers from their age group. A number of units make up a community of interactions between Gen Z children and the Elderly.

Week 4 model 2 Grandparents (a couple) : 3 Children Length of Stay: Daily (morning - afternoon) Spaces for children or grandparents are more mixed up together than Week 3 model. Routes for connecting children or elderly to other unit are added so that they can also meet with peers from their age group.

Week 4 model 2 Grandparents (a couple) : 3 Children Length of Stay: Daily (morning - afternoon)
Week 4 model- route for Gen Z children represent the route for Gen Z children connecting this particular unit with other units of Gen Z - Elderly. The gateway is also lower suggesting that only children are allowed to use the route.
Week 4 model- route for the Grandparents represent the route for the Elderly connecting this particular unit with other units of Gen Z - Elderly.
Week 4 model- Children and Elderly working for the community Interactions between children and elderly could benefit the community. For example in this model, children will learn gardening from the Elderly. Together they would create green space which would spill to the surrounding community.
