The DRIVER phone case aims to provide a dedicated and trusty tool for those who love working with their hands. It does not aim to solve every fastening method, but is intended to be customizable according to each user’s personal needs.
3
ABOUT There are currently multi-tool kits available for mobile devices, however, all the solutions on the market today are not well designed to the user’s needs. These tools sacrifice strength for the number of tools carried. They don’t have the durability or precision required from the jobs that often present themselves to the user.
4
DRIVER exists to handle everyday tasks over and over again with the reliability of full size tools.

INSPIRATION
My design inspiration came from outdoor equipment and tactical gear. These items have a perceived value of toughness and durability. For soft-goods, most of the products are designed to be configurable by the user in both functionality and organization.

IDEATION: SCAVENGE The Scavenger Hunt involved going to a store and picking out objects that could be potentially used for our project. The goal was to produce mockups were not planned beforehand and to immediately jump onto any ideas that would come up in the store.

9
IDEATION: SKETCH Once I established a direction, I explored different methods of storage. I wanted a method to store screwdrivers/allen heads and other miscellaneous tools.

11
IDEATION: PHYSICAL Different physical models were made for hand testing. Referencing the sketches, different compartment mechanisms were also tested for feasibility.

IDEATION: DIGITAL The digital mockup settled the dimensions in a more concrete fashion. This model became the basis on which I built the final model on. 3.12
