The Park District Board of Commissioners is the legal governing authority for Park District business. Park District residents elect Commissioners to serve a four-year term. Board meetings are open to the public and are usually held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7pm at the Joe Doud Administration Building.
Dear Northbrook Park District Residents, Northbrook Park District partners with a variety of local organizations to achieve our mission to enhance our community by providing outstanding services, parks and facilities through environmental, social and financial stewardship. Northbrook Park District has a long history of partnering with area school districts to provide before and after school care and summer camps for the community. This year, we are excited to offer expanded summer camp options in all Northbrook elementary school districts including Northbrook School District 27, Northbrook School District 28, Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 and West Northfield School District 31. In addition to camps hosted in our park district facilities, these additional school sites will provide expanded services and camp options in convenient neighborhood locations. See pages 6 to 13 for a complete listing of our summer camps and plan to visit the Camp Open House on February 29 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at Techny Prairie Activity Center. Register by March 6 and save 10% on most camps. The Park District offers a Scholarship Program to provide access to recreational programs and facilities. Staff members work closely with Youth Services Glenview/Northbrook along with school administrators and other social service groups to identify those with demonstrated need. The budget for scholarships for 2024 is $40,000. For more information or to apply, visit nbparks.org/ scholarships. Working with the Village of Northbrook, the Northbrook Park District has expanded adult social events in Village Green Park. The fourth annual Northbrook Brewfest is scheduled for Saturday, September 7 and the second annual Grapes on the Green will be held Saturday, June 15. Both 21 and over events will once again take place in the heart of Northbrook in the Park District’s Village Green Park. These are just a few examples of partnerships that help us offer expanded services while controlling costs. Staff continually explore opportunities that will best serve our community while avoiding duplication of services as we fulfill our mission as stewards of Northbrook Park District’s environmental, social and financial resources. Warmest regards,
Chris Leiner, Executive Director

Every summer has a story – write yours with Northbrook Park District Summer Camp! We are committed to providing a variety of active learning opportunities that promote teamwork, friendship and fun. Through individual successes and team activities, campers develop a stronger sense of self-confidence, while creating memories that can last a lifetime. Sign up at nbparks.org/summercamps or any Park District registration office to reserve your spot! Questions? Visit nbparks.org or call 847-291-2993 for more information.
NSSRA – Inclusion Services
The Park District partners with the Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association (NSSRA) to offer recreation programs and services to residents of all abilities. NSSRA support staff is available to work alongside program participants, assisting with special needs and behavior. Participants requesting support should check the ADA box on the registration form. If you are registering online, call Nancy Eschker at 847-291-2995 to discuss your camper’s needs and request additional support. Call at least one month prior to camp start dates to review your NSSRA support plan.
Camp Details Camp Groups
Camp groups are formed by age/grade and school. Friendship requests are not available.
Lunch Program
Families have the option of ordering lunches for campers through Kiddos Catering. In May, camp families will receive details about the program including menu choices and ordering instructions. Some camps may not participate in the Kiddos Catering program.
ePACT
Summer camps use ePACT as a secure emergency network used to collect medical and emergency contact information electronically. ePACT replaces paper forms and ensures we have a way to communicate with you in the event of any changes to the program, an illness, injury or larger scale emergency. Families will receive an invitation to complete their member record using the email address on file.
Residency
Some Village of Northbrook residents are not residents of the Northbrook Park District. Non-residents are charged a slightly higher fee. Campers who attend Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 or West Northfield School District 31 and are considered non-residents by Northbrook Park District are eligible for resident rates for 2024 summer camp at respective school sites. See page 8.
Waitlists
If the camp you want is full, we encourage you to place your child on a waitlist (one per child per week/session). If space becomes available, waitlist participants will be contacted. Payment is required within 24 hours of this notification to confirm enrollment.
Transfers
We recognize that some campers may need to change their enrollment due to scheduling conflicts or desire to try another camp. Transfer requests will be granted only if the desired program has openings.
Payment Plan
Payment plans are available for all camps. Register at nbparks.org/ summercamps to utilize the payment plan. If the available payment plan does not meet your needs, call 847-291-2993. All balances must be paid in full before the start of the program.
Scholarship Requests
Northbrook Park District residents who meet the criteria can receive financial assistance towards recreation programs and memberships. Applicants only need to qualify once per calendar year. Contact Melanie Alexander at malexander@ nbparks.org or 847-291-2995 for an application form or to discuss the scholarship process.
Refunds/Withdrawal Fees
All refunds are subject to an administrative fee of 10% of the program cost.
Are You Covered?
The Northbrook Park District does not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants as the cost would make program fees prohibitive. Participants should review their personal health insurance plan to be sure you and your family have proper coverage. The absence of coverage does not make the Park District automatically responsible for payment of medical expenses. In addition, certain higher-risk activities require a separate waiver which must be signed before the first session.
Camps will not be held on Thursday, July 4.
