One-Day! Self-Defense Training

In two hours, you can learn to defend yourself. This is one of the easiest and most effective self-defense classes you can take. Learn to anticipate and avoid dangerous situations, defenses against attackers and standing/ground techniques. You receive a Personal Safety Guide from the Brave Way Program.

Pickleball Clinic

Players learn basic strategy, equipment, drills to improve ball strokes, rules of play, player positions and scoring. Advanced players learn strategy and tactics, split steps, serve and returns, dinks and 3rd shot drop. Pickleball open gym immediately follows the clinic.

Extra Special Thanks To

The anonymous donor of yarn to the Knitting and Crocheting drop-in group. All gifts of yarn to the Senior Center are used to create items for donation to organizations in need of such items as blankets, hats and gloves.

Pat Thalman for bringing in six large bags of fabric for use by the Sewing and Crafts drop-in group.

The Lending Closet

The Northbrook Park District lends medical equipment to Northbrook residents and Senior Center members for up to three months. Equipment includes canes, crutches, raised toilet seats, portable commodes, shower seats/benches, walkers and wheelchairs. There is no charge to check out an item but items not returned within three months incur a $25 service fee.

The Senior Center cannot provide supervision, training or adjustment of the equipment. If adjustments are necessary, borrowers can contact their physician or physical therapist.

Call 847-291-2995 for more information or to schedule a time to pick-up or drop-off equipment (walk-in pick-up/drop-offs are not available, items must be reserved the business day prior to item pick-up).
