New Activity Center at Techny Prairie Park
Setting sights on a future of active play, health and fitness for the community, Park District officials broke ground July 10 for your new Activity Center at Techny Prairie Park. The 44,220 square foot facility will be a Net Zero building, which means it is highly energy efficient! The Park District has allocated $16 million for this project. Construction is expected to be complete in winter 2020/2021. Membership and program information will be available July 2020.
New Activity Center Features:
• Indoor walking/running track
• Multipurpose gymnasium for basketball, pickleball and volleyball
• Fitness space for individual cardio, strength training and group fitness
• Multipurpose room and office space
Sportsman’s Country Club Improvements
Plans are moving forward on upgrades at Sportsman’s Country Club that will enhance the golf experience for Northbrook residents and guests.
Work is slated to begin late 2019, the project includes:
• New clubhouse with improved dining experience
• Classic 18 greens and East 9 irrigation
• Practice Range enhancements
• Re-branding
Sportsman’s will close after the 2019 season and re-open in 2021. During the closure, Northbrook Park District residents will receive resident rates at Park District of Highland Park’s Sunset Valley Golf Club. Additional agreements with other nearby communities also may be pursued.
