Bringing staff together
Campus Catch Up Simon Says Words of wisdom from the Health & Safety Manager For many people exam time is the most stressful part of the academic year. With so much riding on the outcome, there can be a high degree of pressure to perform well. Here are some exam preparation tips to help you excel. The earlier you start, the more time you will have to prepare for the exam. By starting early and studying on a regular basis you will have a better opportunity to absorb the information and life will be a lot easier when it’s time to put it all together. Make sure your course material is well organised so you can find and fill any gaps. If you miss any classes, get the notes from your friends right away instead of scrambling at the last minute. Proper organisation will help you to get a better picture of the material that has to be covered and improve the flow of the study process.
Don’t forget to take care of yourself during the exam preparation. It is very important to be in good mental and physical condition for the exam. A small amount of stress can get you psyched, but too much mental or physical strain can be detrimental to your performance. The last thing you want to do is to sabotage your efforts by ignoring your well-being. After you finish studying, take some time to relax. Don’t stay up too late if you can help it and try to get a good night’s sleep. Eat before the exam to build your energy, but avoid heavy foods that can make you drowsy. Keep a positive attitude about the exam. Go to the exam focused and relaxed - you have done the work, now it’s time to reap the rewards. Good Luck!

As part of Make A Positive Contribution months in April and May students have been exploring the benefits of volunteering
Worthing Churches Homeless Project Claire Thomas from Worthing Churches Homeless Project came in to talk to students about volunteering. Students and staff across all campuses have been donating unwanted clothing items or food to the charity.
Community Skills Group The Community Skills group have been doing their bit for the community by designing an interactive quiz that be can taken into care homes. The students’ next project involves buying T shirts from Oxfam then placing designs on them and selling them for the Haiti appeal.
Get Involved! Volunteering is simple. It’s about giving your time to do something useful, without getting paid (apart from expenses). In return you get the satisfaction of time and effort well spent.
Why volunteer? Meet new people Gain useful experience Learn new skills Great fun! The range of opportunities is huge. Whatever skills and experience you have, there is something that you can do. The biggest problem for people is finding the time to volunteer but many busy people do find suitable opportunities. Keira volunteered to gain experience in her chosen field and through her volunteering has now secured a position as a Trainee Child Care Practitioner.
“Looking back on my journey, I have progressed and developed greatly and I owe so
much of it to The Community House where I volunteered, its staff and service users for helping me build the foundation to the start of my career.” Keira, ASDAN Certificate in Community Volunteering
“Volunteering has given me so much. It has given me the opportunity to build my CV and career I’ve always wanted, meet new people, gain confidence as well as giving something back to help others.” Leon, Integrative Counselling & Therapy Advanced Diploma
