Campus Catch Up Thank You for Going Green A huge thank you to everyone who helped raise money for the St Barnabas Go Green appeal. A total of £258.62 was raised by everyone who donated. Across the campuses Community Learning students raised money through their plant sale and students took part in a football tournament.

Go Karting 14 students went on a trip to Crawley’s indoor Go Karting track. Students had two sessions each to try and achieve the quickest lap time. More enrichment events like this will be taking place next year so keep a look out for how you can get involved.

Learning Further Afield Travel and Tourism students jetted off to Menorca to learn new skills for their course. Seven students spent the week shadowing Thomson holiday advisers in the Vista Blanes resort and the surrounding area for their Overseas Representative unit. The students attended welcome meetings, manned reception in the resort, helped out in the kids’ zone and assisted with airport transfers. Thomson were so impressed with the students that many of them will be considered for jobs when they turn 18.

Student photography project unearths local history Students with learning difficulties are exhibiting the results of a three month photography project which involved a fascinating look at the history of Northbrook’s Broadwater Campus. The Broadwater campus was originally a boys’ secondary school in the 1920s. Local people have said that the building was originally used as an army hospital during the First World War, which gave the students the opportunity to create some interesting images. By the 1960s, it was being used as Worthing College of Technology, which eventually merged with West Sussex College of Art and Design in the 1980s to form what is now Northbrook College. The images are on display at Worthing Library until Friday 18th June.

Inspired towards a Career in Aerospace & Defence? Inspiring Young Minds towards a Career in Aerospace & Defence is an exciting new programme which will be launched at Futures Day at the Farnborough International Airshow on 23 July 2010. Young people up to the age of 20 are encouraged to attend The Futures Day Exhibition area, which will include a Careers Fair, to meet colleges, universities, small and medium-sized companies and global players in the sector.
