RI President Ray Klinginsmith visited Zambia and dedicated two suspension bridges; one in Luska & one in Livingstone. (pictured below)

President Ray & RI aide Duane Sterling were joined by District Governor Moses Malunda & delegation head PDG William Nyirenda. President Sandford Mupanga of the Nkwasi Lusaka Club was the host sponsor along with, Bridges to Prosperity, University of Iowa and Rotary District 7600 in Virginia, USA sponsored the two bridges as part of a Rotary Foundation 3H grant of $300,000. Livingstone Rotary Club President Sue Welch welcomed the visitors. They visited the YCTC training center(picture above) to view Rotary’s ongoing KWA sewing project sponsored by Livingstone & the Newport Irvine, CA Club; the IT program sponsored by the Livingstone, Altadena, CA & Washington D. C. Clubs. The delegation also visited the St. Joseph Hospice sponsored by Livingstone, Newport-Irvine Rotary, and other USA Districts & Clubs plus Australian Rotarians. President Klinginsmith visited the children’s ward (picture above). Help is needed to fund the children’s ward. Government provides no funds to staff the hospice. The children’s ward requires 24 hour nursing staff. The building is built and Rotary outfitted it and is building the washing, locker ablution block at the rear of the hospice. A sponsor(s) for the Children’s Ward is desperately needed. They could serve six HIV/AIDS infected babies/children if the funds were available. Infants and children can be nursed to nutritional stability & combined with a regimen of Anti-Retroviral drugs; kids could be kids. This would also allow more children to be admitted as stabilized children are returned to the community. A gift(s) could be used to set up a bank trust to fund the daily staff operation of the Ward. Please contact Bob for information on how you can help the children. New grants are needed for District 9210’s beginning of a new round of “Water for Schools” program in both Zambia and Zimbabwe. The rural areas are seriously in need now! Clubs and District are needed to sponsor wells for $5.000 or more. Clean Water & sanitation increases the life expectancy by 70% up to five years Please join in and sponsor a borehole.
