It would be Great to return to Africa this summer I n the USA trying to lease one of my homes so I can return to Africa. Available to speak to your Club until I leave. Spoke to the Rotary Club of Newport Balboa, CA , Bill Hossfeld, President, a cosponsor on the wheelchair project & the Bakersfield East Rotary Club. Hosted by Bruce & Claudia Keith who toured me around their city. I had met incoming President Nona Darling in Bangkok and she wanted me to talk with her Club and some interested Bakersfield citizens; Cynthia Lake and M ichael Fagans about projects in Africa. I had no idea how cosmopolitan and beautiful Bakersfield has become. A stable economy of oil and agriculture has certainly made it a star in the economic recovery. At left, restored Fox Theatre where I attended an event while in Bakersfield. I have been unable to use my United miles to return to Africa for the Zone meeting in Livingstone July 17-22.. Work on mapping the water situation is on hold for the meantime, PDG Patrick Coleman, ROTA Water chairman continues gaining sponsors however the true picture of the situation is still not available to Rotary or anyone for that matter. I t is my hope to obtain this information with Rotary¶s persistence on my return trip to Lusaka. The wheelchair Foundation has agreed to send parts to Africa for assembly after five years of discussions. This is a major paradigm shift in allowing the wheelchairs to be assembled outside of China. This provides jobs to Zambians and improves Sino-Zambian relations. We are beginning to put together the assembly area now at the Livingstone Youth Training Center and are hoping to begin assembly in September. Please plan on joining in on the distribution in early October and enjoy Africa and take a safari while participating in this breakthrough project.
Please Contribute Your United Miles to Rotary!!
I just donated my United miles to the Rotary/United miles account/bank. Why? Rotary gets better deals using frequent miles than I can and Rotary provides miles for humanitarian projects. Trips to Africa take from 80 to 140, 000 miles frequent flyer miles. The bonus is that Rotary can match mine with their United Airline air miles won in a competition recently. With the addition of your mileage contributions I will be able to go to the Zone Conference in Livingstone July 17-22 and work on the water, parks and wheelchair projects in Africa now and in the future. How? Just log on to your United.com account. Go to the United Global Citizenship tab;; click on charity miles and select Rotary. Place your miles (at least 500) in the account. Then print the acceptance screen to a PDF & forward to me at: rdselinger@aol.com. I will forward the United Mileage acceptances to Rotary & they will arrange my tickets. Thank you for your support.
Your help will make it possible for me to continue my Rotary work in Africa. Thanks.
