Patricia took her moment to tell us about the advantages of using “embalming fluid” go keep ourselves looking young, and Blanca told us about the value of Massage Chairs for the same purpose. Program: Jesse Cozean was introduced by President Bob and provided an inspiring presentation

on his grandfather’s experiences as a soldier and prisoner of war in World War II. His grandfather began to tell Jesse about his experiences while recovering from an illness and being taken care of by Jesse. His grandfather fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was captured December 17th, 1944 and held prisoner until liberation by Patton’s army Easter 1945. After being taken prisoner, he marched for five days, and then was put in a box car with 60 other prisoners and transported to Stalag 9B – one of the worst prisoner of war camps in WWII. At camp soldiers felt the enemy was not the German guards, but cold and hunger. Prisoners were given few clothes and blankets, were kept in unheated barracks, and were given only insufficient soup and bread to eat. Because they were so hungry, food was the basis of conversation.. They talked incessantly about what they would eat when they were released. Hearing these stories from his grandfather and writing the book strengthened the relationship between grandfather and grandson. and gave Jesse a great appreciation for what soldiers went through in WWII. - Bill Zeller Reporter
