Battle over land } Jabulani Dlamini

THE battle for control of the Oppermansgronde land worth R110 million is at the centre of a march planned for Saturday (25/04) in Koffiefontein, about 200 km south-west of Bloemfontein. According to financial statements prepared by PJ Vorster Accountants of Kimberley in 2013, the 38 000 ha prime real estate was worth about R111 940 331 in May 2013. The land, handed back to the community in April 2003, can be utilised for crops and game, as well as animal farming. According to the applicants of the march, the march is essentially to lodge grievances against the chairperson of the Oppermansgronde Communal Property Association (CPA), Louis Barnes, and the South African Police Service (SAPS). Barnes was arrested on Saturday (18/04) at Oppermansgronde after allegedly assaulting and pointing a firearm at Peter August, a claimant. “He (Barnes) came here on Saturday at about 11:00 with his son and four of his workers

and kicked down my door and also pointed a gun in my face. That man must get off our land, he is not a rightful beneficiary of this land,” August told Express. Const. Masilela Langa, police spokesperson, confirmed that Barnes had been arrested on Saturday and appeared in the Koffiefontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday (20/04) and was remanded in custody. He will appear on Wednesday (22/04) for a formal bail application. The marchers also want the Free State chapter of the Rural Development and Land Reform Department, which is listed as the third respondent in a copy of the application to march, to intervene in the potentially deadly feud among the CPA members. Julian Topkin, spokesperson for the marchers, said they essentially wanted the committee of the CPA to be disbanded. “There is complete mismanagement and financial statements are not made available to other members, so we would like the department to suspend the committee and allow for the re-election of a new committee,” Topkin said. Asked about allegations that Barnes was not a rightful claimant of the Oppermansgronde land, Topkin said they had been speaking to the Rural Development Department for a long time about this, but nothing had happened thus far. “There are contradictions between the court papers filed by Barnes and what his

birth certificates says regarding who his parents are,” Topkin said. In an opposing affidavit filed in the Land Claims court in 2014 and signed by Barnes on 23 October 2013, Barnes said he was born out of a marriage between a descendant (Augusta) of the land’s original owner Frederik Salomo Opperman and his father Charles Barnes. Express is in possession of a copy of Barnes’s birth certificate which lists his mother as Cathleen Elizabeth Palm in contradiction to his claim in the affidavit. Serame Mzizi, director of corporate services for the Rural Development Department, said although Rural Development and Land Reform minister, Gugile Nkwinti, would be in Qwaqwa on Saturday and most officials would be there, someone from the department would receive the marchers’ memorandum. ) Repeated attempts for comment from committee members were unsuccessful, with Phillip Barnes’s phone, as well as that of his deputy, Artie de Koker, ringing unanswered. The phone of the CPA’s secretary, Dawie Cornellisen, was answered by a woman who said she was his domestic worker and he was not there. She could not say when he would be back. The cellphone number of Henry Jacquier, the CPA’s bookkeeper, was answered by a woman who did not identify herself, but said he was not available.

Step into past with exhibition SINCE the movie Jurassic Park made its debut years ago, it has been every young child’s dream to “see” a live dinosaur. The good news is that the wildly popular Dinos Alive will be in Bloemfontein from 26 June to 26 July. Volksblad readers, as well as those of its local publications including Express, stand a chance to win tickets to the exhibition as well as other prizes. Ten readers will each win a gift pack which includes two tickets for adults, two for children and Dinos Alive gifts to the value of R350. To enter the competition, buy the Volksblad newspaper on Friday (24/04) to get your Dinos Alive puzzle card. The puzzle pieces will be placed in the Volksblad every Tuesday and Thursday from 28 April until 11 June (and weekly in the Express, Bloemnuus and Vista). Participants need all the puzzle pieces to complete the puzzle and stand a chance to win the prizes. The puzzle pieces will be placed randomly in the newspaper, so readers need to explore the whole newspaper in order to find these elusive creatures.

In total, there are 14 puzzle pieces. Send your completed puzzle card (with all the puzzle pieces pasted on it) to PO Box 267, Bloemfontein 9300, or hand it in at the Volksblad head office at 79 Nelson Mandela Drive before 22 June at 12:00. Entries can be marked for Madelein Venter’s attention. Dinos Alive, which is sponsored by the Volksblad group, OFM and Wimpy, tells the story of dinosaurs since the Mesozoic era, between about 250 million to about 65 million years ago. The project is underwritten by the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) and consists of 25 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs. Children will learn everything about dinosaurs from the information boards as well as through We Chat at the exhibition. Fun activities that will be presented include rides on the dinosaurs, excavation sandpits, a dinosaur movie, dinosaur art, a jumping castle, Play-station games and stalls where dinosaur articles can be bought. Children will thoroughly enjoy the moving dinosaurs and parents will draw great

CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) on Tuesday (21/04) launched the 16-team Africa T20 Cup which will be the African curtain-raiser to the 2015-’16 season. Zimbabwe, Kenya and Namibia have accepted invitations to compete in the event, with the other participants being the 12 CSA affiliates, as well as associate member KZN Inland. The tournament will be a world cup-style competition, consisting of four pools of four teams each with the winners of each pool advancing to the semi-finals and eventually to the final. Easterns (Sahara Willowmoore Park), North-West (Senwes Park), Griquas (Diamond Oval) and Free State (Mangaung Oval) will be the venues for the four pool matches and some of these venues will also host the semi-finals and final depending on which teams advance and based on an assessment of the quality of venue hosting during the pool stages. The tournament will run from 4 September to 4 October. All franchise players will play for the province at which they are contracted, although a limit of four has been placed on the number to be fielded at the same time. This limit will not include the contracted Protea players, who are restricted to one in the starting XI. In addition, all teams will be required to field at least two u.21 players. Transformation targets will be the same as that which applies for the CSA semi-professional competitions (six players of colour and three black Africans). “This tournament is an exciting new concept for our cricket,” commented CSA chief executive, Haroon Lorgat. “It should provide impetus at the start of a season with exciting and competitive playing opportunities plus revenue generating potential for each team. “We are keen to lead the way in developing an Africa-wide competition. “With international Twenty20 matches to follow against England and Australia later in the season, this tournament will provide an early start for players to stake a claim in next year’s ICC World Twenty20 squad. “A key differentiator is for each team to include two u.21 players which will give rising stars the chance to play with our fully-fledged professionals. “It is an important factor in developing talent that emerging players can learn from the best. “I am delighted that SuperSport will be providing live and full coverage of ten playing days, including the semi-finals and final, and thank them once again for their fantastic support of South African cricket,” concluded Lorgat. CSA has also announced the appointment of Makhaya Ntini as the Africa T20 Cup ambassador. “I am both delighted and honoured to be invited to fulfil this role,” Ntini said. “The development of African cricket is something that is very close to my heart and I welcome this important initiative.” Schedule ) Pool A: Sahara Willowmoore Park: 4 to 6 September – Easterns, Northerns, Zimbabwe and Western Province. ) Pool B: Senwes Park: 11 to 13 September – North-West; KwaZuluNatal Inland; Border and Boland. ) Pool C: Diamond Oval: 18 to 20 September – Griquas, Namibia, KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Province. ) Pool D: Mangaung Oval: 25 to 27 September – Free State, SWD, Gauteng and Kenya.

Girl (13), family need help 13-YEAR-OLD Thandeka Jolingana needs help. The girl whose name means “loveable”, has never been to school and plays alone most of the time. Thandeka’s mother, Ntombizodwa, says she was told by doctors that her daughter’s brain is basically not growing. “She has to wear a helmet at all times as she sometimes just suddenly falls and can get seriously injured if not protected,” the 52-year-old mother told Express. Thandeka lives with her bubbly mother in a modest shack in the fast-growing area of Khotsong Mafora, south of Bloemfontein.

Ntombizodwa explains that she used to work as a domestic worker, but gave up her job eight years ago to look after her daughter on a full-time basis. “Apart from a new helmet (the one she is currently using is badly cracked from the constant falling), Thandeka also needs a wheelchair urgently as well as adult nappies, because she is unable to control her bowel movements,” says David September, a Gospel artist who brought Thandeka’s plight to Express’s attention. Although Express could not establish the exact condition Thandeka suffers from, Ntombizodwa says in addition to epilepsy, which is characterised by violent fits and convulsions, Thandeka also just falls and it is then that she normally gets injured.

During Express’ visit to the family, September took Thandeka for a walk and although she is able to walk, she does so with great difficulty and often falls in the process. “We have had several offers of help, but very few have really materialised with many of those who offer to help simply not coming back after committing to helping my daughter,” Ntombizodwa says. The family survives on Thandeka’s disability grant.

‘We are all Africans’

} Thomas Hartleb EFF LEADER Julius Malema said in most cases xenophobic attacks are spontaneous, but someone using a knife had the intention to commit a crime. Referring to the attack on Mozambican Emmanuel Sithole, Malema who visited the Johannesburg township of Alexandra on a door-to-door campaign against xenophobia on Monday, said: “In most cases the xenophobic attacks are spontaneous and people use bricks and those types of things. But a knife? You left your house with the intention to commit a crime. “We have a weak government; we have a weak state. We have a self-serving leadership which has neglected the masses,” he said when asked if the attack would not have happened with a stronger government in place. Earlier an EFF member was shot and wounded shortly before the party leader arrived in the area to call for an end to xenophobic violence. The man was shot in the knee, apparently by a man firing into the crowd.

Following the shooting, Malema said: “Today our fighter was shot. No amount of intimidation will stop us from protecting our fellow Africans.” Referring to the perpetrators of the violence, he said: “Let us put pressure on these people. “We know them. Let us take responsibility and make this place a beautiful place.” Malema told journalists that Sithole’s killing was not xenophobia-related. Sithole was stabbed to death on Arkwright Avenue in Alexandra on Saturday morning, not far from where Malema was speaking. Earlier Malema addressed a cheering crowd from the back of a double-cab bakkie saying he was ashamed of the violence that had so far claimed seven lives. He called for South Africans to respect their fellow Africans. “We are all Africans,” was a line Malema repeated throughout his speech. Malema defended Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini, saying his remarks in Pongola, KwaZuluNatal, last month, which had been blamed for starting the xenophobic violence, were not a call to kill foreigners.

XENOPHOBIA is symptomatic of several crises South Africa is suffering from, Zwelinzima Vavi, expelled Cosatu general secretary, said on Monday (20/04). Speaking to reporters ahead of Thursday’s (23/04) People’s March Against Xenophobia in Johannesburg, Vavi said a report that he had said the xenophobic attacks in South Africa could have been prevented if millions had not been spent on Pres. Jacob Zuma’s Nkandla homestead, was not accurate. “I do not write the headlines of newspapers. The newspaper, The Citizen, wrote that Vavi blames Nkandla for xenophobia,” Vavi said. “No, that is not a reflection of my (speech) that I was making yesterday (Sunday).” He said crime was an expression of a social and economic crisis facing society, with violence, racism and xenophobia being expressions of fear, insecurity and hopelessness. “There are four crises facing South Africa today, which we have summed up in the previous period . . . to say they represent a ticking time bomb.” The biggest crisis was unemployment, where a country with an employment rate of 35% should see itself as being in a state of emergency, according to Vavi. He stated that among middle-income countries, South Africa was in the worst position when it came to this. “The second crisis is poverty.” If you have around 12 million people, out of 53 to 54 million, sleeping in a place where they are unable to put food on the table, then you are faced by a crisis. “The third is we are the most unequal society in the world today . . . after 21 years (of democracy) we are now occupying a very unfamiliar position of number one . . . We don’t call it a challenge, we call it a crisis.

“The fourth is a crisis of corruption – the unashamed stealing from the poor by the elite. “Nkandla is an epitome, a manifestation, a tip of the iceberg of that looting in our society. It’s not the only one, it’s just one example that’s so glaring because it represents that statesmen spitting in the face of our people struggling for a better life.” He said that through the slogan, “don’t moan, mobilise”, he was referring to the broader problem in South African society where we are beginning to lose hope. Prevention was probable Earlier, Pregs Govender, the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) deputy chairperson, said the commission was in full support of Thursday’s march, with the organisers aiming for as large an attendance as possible. She said that if the government acted on the commission’s report into issues of the rule of law, justice and impunity arising out of the xenophobic violence that occurred in 2008, it was likely there would be less violence today. “Those perpetrating criminal acts X the police need to arrest them and the criminal justice system needs to (take effect). “The commission is currently having a meeting with the (Zulu) King (Goodwill Zwelithini) in KwaZulu-Natal and attending the imbizo because the commission is investigating several complaints against the king, as well as several complaints against xenophobic attacks around the country.” She said political leadership needed to understand the impact of their words and actions on those on the streets, who were being targeted. “The king has to disassociate himself (from what) people have said have resulted from his words. The commission is asking that he addresses the public to confirm that these deplorable actions are being undertaken not in his name.

Intervention due to crisis In Durban on Monday, Zwelithini said it was important for him to hold an urgent imbizo following the spate of attacks on foreign nationals in KwaZulu-Natal last week. He said he had made the decision to call the imbizo after meeting with Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba and State Security Minister David Mahlobo. “It was important for me to intervene because this was a crisis,” he told a crowd at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The king said the last two months reminded him of the Rwandan genocide. “This was the worst massacre in history . . . It showed the role played by the media and the political leaders in the killing. “In 2015, we woke up to the news of the Kenyan killings. We are heartbroken as the Zulu monarch. It was reported that 147 people were killed. “To bring it back home, we know that foreign nationals have been displaced in the last three weeks. “What’s shameful is that this is not the first time,” he said referring to the xenophobia attacks in 2008. He said the SAHRC needed to be given time to conduct an investigation thoroughly and without intimidation. “I’ve written two letters to the commission and have urged them to also investigate the media’s involvement in inciting violence. “I believe that the media must open itself up to being investigated if they have nothing to hide. “My speech in Pongola was addressed to the crime issues facing the country. Instead the nation has been told that I have said otherwise. This is funny. Even today, I’m still asking the media to write my entire speech. I want the media to write the entire speech from that day.” Zwelithini said the imbizo was not called because he had sparked the attacks, but because he knew that South Africa could beat this.

Statues: Law must be obeyed PRIOR to the dawn of a democratic dispensation in 1994, South Africa’s heritage resources were managed and administered through the old legislation, called the National Monument Council Act (Act No. 21 of 1969). This act made provision for the establishment of the National Monument Council (NMC) that was appointed by the prime minister to ensure that monuments are retained as tokens of the past, so that they may serve as an inspiration for the future. To transform the country’s heritage landscape the new legislation, called the National Heritage Resources Act (Act No. 25 of 1999), was promulgated by the new democratic government as an integrated and interactive system for the management of the national heritage resources, to nurture and conserve our heritage resources so that they may be bequeathed to future generations. The preamble of the National Heritage Resources Act (NHRA) stipulates that “. . . our heritage celebrates our achievements and contributes to redressing past inequities. It educates, it deepens our understanding of society and encourages us to empathize with the experiences of others. It facilitates healing and material and symbolic restitution . . .” Legislative framework and protection of areas and structures older than 60 years The area or place upon which any structure, which is older

than 60 years, is located is protected in terms of Section 34 of the NHRA, and this includes statues, monuments, buildings and memorials. This section clearly stipulates that “No person may alter or demolish any structure or part of a structure that is older than 60 years without a permit issued by the relevant provincial heritage resources authority.” When statues and other structures of cultural significance are declared heritage sites in terms of Section 27 of the Act, we refer to this process as a formal protection. On the other hand, when the above-mentioned structures are not declared, but are older than 60 years, they automatically qualify for legal protection in a manner as declared structures of cultural significance. For instance, the Cecil John Rhodes statue is not listed or recorded in the national heritage register as a declared structure nor declared a heritage site, but it is legally protected by virtue of the fact that it is older than 60 years, and a permit must be obtained from the Provincial Heritage Resources Authority (PHRA) which resides within the Provincial Departments of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, in conjunction with the local municipality. The PHRA is established by the MEC in terms of Section 23 of the Act as a corporate body capable of suing and being sued in its corporate name.

} Sidwell Guduka THE Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State, says it condemms the xenophobic attacks that were taking place in the country. “We are shocked by the acts of brutality and violence that are being committed by South Africans against our fellow African brothers and sisters around the country. As a university that is home to many nationalities from Africa and beyond, we unconditionally condemn these shameful and deplorable acts of violence. “We are in support of the statement issued by Higher Education South Africa (Hesa) on behalf of the higher education community, which states that such incidents ‘are inconsistent with the values expressed in, and the founding provisions of, our Constitution’,” the CUT said in a statement. Staff members and students of the institute will gather at the CUT Library and Information Services Building to appeal for peace on Thursday (23/04) at 12:30. They will be addressed by Prof. Thandwa Mthembu, vice-chancellor and principal, and this will be followed by a peace march.

Cultural practitoner After receiving the application, the PHRA will have to embark on a process of public participation where meaningful engagements will ensue by members of the public, prior to the issuing or non-issuing of the permit. Public participation becomes a platform to engage and determine facts for and against the proposed removal or retention of a particular structure under discussion. Public participation also affords members of the public the opportunity to unpack and unravel the historical background of what a particular structure means and stands for so that everyone is better positioned to make inputs and arrive at an informed decision. National Estate All declared and undeclared structures of cultural significance which are older than 60 years are regarded as National Estate and they must enjoy the protection of the law. Section 3(1) stipulates that “. . . . those heritage resources of South Africa which are of cultural significance or other special value for the present

community and for future generations must be considered part of National Estate and fall within the sphere of operations of heritage resources authorities . . .” All structures that were declared before 1994 under the old legislation as National Monuments are now regarded as Provincial Heritage Sites under the new Act pending the completion of a re-grading process by the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) to determine whether they qualify to be national, provincial or local heritage sites in terms of the three-tier system as provided for in Section 8(1) of the legislation. Penalties and legal implications for violation of the legislation According to the law of application, there is no excuse for ignorance, hence it becomes the responsibility of heritage practitioners to educate our communities that heritage related matters must be handled within the parameters and ambit of the law. Following and adhering to our heritage legislation is tantamount to observing the progressive Constitution of the Republic of South Africa and this will assist to prevent perplexity and anarchy. It must also be borne in mind that our legislation is not in any way against the removal of statues, monuments and memori-

als, but encourages us to execute all these in a legal manner by applying for a permit from heritage resources authorities. In terms of Section 27(18), no person may destroy, damage, deface, excavate, alter, remove from its original position, subdivide or change the planning status of any heritage site without a permit issued by the heritage resources authority responsible for the protection of such a site. In terms of Section 5(1) (a) anyone who contravenes the above-mentioned section of the act is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine or imprisonment or both such fine and imprisonment as set out in Item 1 of the Schedule, which is a fine or imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years or both such fine and imprisonment. Doing things the correct way, continuous engagements and dialogues on intriguing heritage related matters will go a long way in assisting us a great deal as a nation in our proactive and progressive endeavours to create a culture of common understanding. ) Vincent Sithembiso Khetha is the director of Heritage, Museums and Language Services in the Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation. ) To contribute to this column on any topic of your choice, send your piece of about 500 words jabulani.dlamini@volksblad.com.

Crisis calls for mind over matter

New spin on classic ONCE upon a time, there was an old man who bought Jack’s cow, Dandelion, for five beans. When Jack presented this amazing magical treasure to his mother, she asked: “What to do with these vegetables? You know what beans do to your tummy . . .!” and she promptly chucked them out the window. But, when a huge beanstalk sprouts in Jack’s garden, he has no other choice but to climb the thing to discover what lies at the top. On a mission to find a golden egg that will enable Jack to buy back Dandelion, Jack has to try something, doesn’t he? On this adventure in the clouds, he meets up with an assortment of food and all sorts of condiments. If you don’t know what condiments are, don’t worry, Jack doesn’t either. And all of this, of course, takes place in a giant’s kitchen. Where Jack is but the size of a small profiterole. And where the giant seems to be constantly checking the fridge for something to eat. Where a talking goose is harangued by a beautiful harp to keep quiet X or else the giant will want to hear yet another boring piece of classical music. Will Jack be on the menu or can he successfully pose as the giant’s action figure toy? And where will he find that golden egg? Jack and the Beanstalk is this year’s first production for children of the University of the Free State’s Department for Drama and Theatre Arts. A fresh retelling of the ageless classic is specifically aimed to entertain a newer generation of kids with the same classic story. Hard at work behind the scenes of this delightful comedy for younger audiences are the energetic talents of a vibrant group of Drama students. Directed by Walter Strydom (known for productions such as the Boer Manie

losing their jobs; housing bonds are in arrears. This is reality, but you must control your thinking under the circumstances. Consider God’s perspective of a crisis: Many times in Scripture we see that God interrupts people in times of crises and says, “Do not fear” (Genesis 15:1; 26:24). Why? The people began to interpret the environment as a reason for fear. If your thoughts fall victim to your circumstance, the circumstance wins. As a leader, you cannot allow the environment to control you. People are counting on you to take them through it. A crisis is not a problem, simply a change in the environment that demands an unscheduled response. You must decide how you are going to respond. A crisis helps you in discovering an innovative, creative person that you never knew lived inside of you. ) The Ruach HaKodesh Tabernacle, Church of God presents an anointing services bonus with the ministration of blessed water on Sunday (26/04) in the Kagisanong Community Hall in Rocklands, Bloemfontein, and on 3 May at the Batho Community Hall, Bloemfontein. WHAT is a crisis? A crisis is an event, circumstance or situation affecting you or your environment over which you have no control, and which you did not directly cause, or are not responsibile for. Directors of companies need to explain this concept to their work force. Also, leaders cannot control what is happening around them and neither can the nation. Why is this important to understand? Consider national crises such as natural disasters. No one can control it, therefore, everyone must prepare themselves to adjust to new circumstances. Despite your inability to control a crisis, remember that you are always in control of your mind. You cannot control challenges and situations, but you can control the way you think about it. This is very important, because your mentality and thoughts are necessary in order to interpret and respond effectively to challenges. In situations like these, true leadership will be revealed and incompetent leaders will be exposed. True leaders do not panic in a crisis, they take action. They do not lose control in it, they take charge. This is why your thinking is more important than what happens around you. Whatsoever you call or label something will produce a corresponding result. Under such circumstances your thinking can influence your conduct. How you see a matter therefore controls your response to it. Controlled perception is not denial of reality, but a controlled response to reality. Economic problems do exist. People are

10 Tips for buying your first home Buying your first home is both an exciting and a stressful experience. The joy of owning your own home can sometimes be overshadowed by the concerns that come with acquiring the associated debt. Rhys Dyer, CEO of ooba, South Africa's biggest bond originator, has these ten tips to take the pain out of the process: 1. Save up for a deposit. This is one of the most important things you can do to help yourself obtain a bond at a good rate. The more money you put in at the beginning, the less you will owe and the more inclined a bank will be to take a risk on you.

Cheetahs face tough Lions away } Sidwell Guduka

THE inconsistent Toyota Cheetahs will be searching for only their fourth win when they square off with the Emirates Lions in the Vodacom Super Rugby encounter in Johannesburg on Saturday. Kick-off is at 17:05. Naka Drotské’s men had a good start to the 2015 Super Rugby season, registering back-to-back wins over the Cell C Sharks in Durban and the Blues in Bloemfontein. But the Free Staters lost their following match against the same Sharks at home X and that was followed up by losses against the Crusaders, the Chiefs and the Brumbies abroad, before returning to their winning ways at the expense of the Western Force in Australia. However, the Cheetahs continued to blow hot and cold as they were defeated 17-18 by the visiting Reds in Bloemfontein last Saturday. To make matters worse for the men from Mangaung, fullback Coenie van Wyk (ankle) and flank Heinrich Brussow (broken arm) picked up injuries during the match and will be out for a few weeks. The duo joins fullback Willie le Roux on the injury list. He is also struggling with an ankle injury and could be sidelined for up to five weeks. “The injuries to Brüssow and Van Wyk disrupted our plan, but that’s absolutely not the reason we lost the game. We created a lot of opportunities in the first half, but we had failed to convert them,” said Drotské. “I thought our intensity was not good in the second half. We were very poor in scrums. We were also unlucky with our last kick (Joe Venter’s penalty kick came off the upright with only seconds remaining on the clock). But that’s the name of this game, you need to use all your chances,” he added. This weekend, the Cheetahs will have to be at their best when they face the high-flying Lions in front of their own fans. The Gauteng side go into this match oozing confidence after winning their last four matches against the Rebels, the Reds,

My husband is back after 15 years of divorce. Mama Asiha showed me my enemies in a mirror. But now we are together again and very happy. I almost lost hope when my husband asked for a divorce. Living without my husband for 15 years was not easy. I had to support myself financially and consulted top healers, who didn't help. I heard of mama Asiha on the radio and on television, my workmate he had helped with my financial problems. She told me everything that was happening in my life before I said anything to her. She took out all the witchcraft, showed me the 'mirror in a dish of water'. I saw my husband's girlfriend . She prayed for me with her special powers . My enemies confessed now and I'm also now promoted at work . I don't know how to thank mama Asiha, but to make it public. With her magic ring she can protect homes from bad evils.

are available for selection for either the Emirates Lions or Xerox Golden Lions teams,” she added. Cheetahs are propping up the South African log with 14 points after 9 matches, while the Lions are sitting with 21 points after the same number of games.

Swallows’ wings look to be clipped } Sidwell Guduka ONE certainty in any given Absa Premiership League season is that the club that finishes the season at the bottom of the log will be automatically relegated to the Division 1. Any team struggling to reach the 30 points that supposedly ensures safety, faces a few tough final games that are destined to end in tears for some supporters. Clubs such as Free State Stars, Amazulu and Moroka Swallows are facing the danger of possible relegation. With only four matches left before the season ends, the three sides are sitting 14th, 15th and 16th on the log, respectively. Ea Lla Koto, who had a game in hand before their match against Ajax Cape Town last night, has collected 25 points X while Usuthu and The Dube Birds have amassed 23 points apiece. In all likelihood, one of the oldest Premier Soccer League sides, Swallows, are the best bet to be relegated on Saturday, 9 May. Swallows continued to flirt with relegation when they failed to beat SuperSport United on Saturday night. Craig Rosslee’s men almost had the game in the bag, but they allowed United to equalise at the stroke of fulltime. It is a sad truth that a team with such a rich history as Swallows will not be part of the Absa Premiership next season. In the old days, when people discussed soccer in the townships, Moroka Swallows Big XV were always part of the talk. But sadly, not much of that is heard today. The club, which was founded way back in 1947, was one of the giant pillars, which helped elevate soccer to what it is today. When the Dube Birds were in full flight, no less than 15 000 people turned out to watch their games as they were one of the crowd pullers in Mzansi. This famous outfit also produced some quality players on a regular basis, while continuously challenging for various honours at stake. Andries “Chaka Chaka” Mpondo, Thomas “Who’s fooling who” Hlongwane, Congo Malebane, Mario Varas, John “Special” Makhubu, Noel “Phinda Mzala” Cousins, Joseph “Manelo” Rapelego, Daniel “Vader” Mophosho, Goodman Hlongwane, and Les Grobler were some of the big names produced by Swallows. Other players were Owen “Rubber Doll”

Hoping to impress } Sidwell Guduka THE Free State Stadium will be a hive of activity on Monday, 27 April. The Nedbank Ke Yona Challenge Search scouts will be embarking on a series of talent identification programmes in the province, where players aged between 18 and 25 will have the opportunity to impress well-known coaches. Coaches include Ephraim Mashaba, Bafana Bafana coach, Owen da Gama, u.23 national team coach, Khabo Zondo and Mike Mangena. Sydney Masana, currently at Free State Stars, is one of the stars discovered by the talent search project last year. The 24-year-old was one of 30 000 young South Africans who entered the previous edition of the competition. Successful applicants, who registered for trials before the deadline on 7 April are reminded to bring along their identity document when coming to the stadium for the trials. Players who impress the scouts, will form part of the team that will play against this year’s Nedbank Cup winners. Trials will be conducted from 08:00 until 17:00.

Photo: Muzi Ntombela/BackpagePix Da Gama, Roger De Sa (both currently coaching Premier Soccer League clubs), Calvin Peterson, Andy Cencig, Graham Lowe, Marcus Mphafudi and Mich D’Avray, who is now technical director at struggling Chippa United. Swallows used to be one of the most consistent teams in South Africa’s professional football and they won several trophies in the process. The silverware the once most-feared club

in the country have won included SA Soccer League Champions in 1965, NPSL Champions Trophy in 1969, Rogue Cup in 1970, BP Top 8 in 1975 and ’79, Sales House Champions of Champions in 1978, Mainstay Cup in 1983, BobSave Super Bowl in 1989 and 91. In most recent years, “Don’t follow me, follow the Birds” as the club is affectionately known, Swallows won the Absa Cup in 2004 and Nedbank Cup in 2009.

However, the Soweto side are a far cry from what they used to be. They are fighting for their lives and the writing is already on the wall for them. Swallows lack direction from the top and a crisis has been looming for the past few seasons. It could be a little too late. Gooodbye, Moroka Swallows! ) Keep in touch at Sidwell.Guduka@volksblad.com

Chiefs three points away from PSL crown THE mighty Kaizer Chiefs will clinch the 2014-’15 Absa Premiership title as soon as Wednesday (22/04) should they beat Polokwane City. A win over Rise and Shine on Wednesday will see the Amakhosi surge to an unassailable 63 log points, with secondplaced Sundowns only able to reach 62 should they win their remaining matches. The two PSL heavyweights are the only two remaining championship contenders, with other clubs having fallen out of the race after dropping too many points.

While Chiefs have four league games left, Sundowns have five games before the conclusion of the season. Sundowns’ next opponents, Platinum Stars, have in recent years proven to be a bogey side for them. In the last ten encounters, Dikwena have won five, while Sundowns have won two and drawn three. Chiefs, meanwhile, have amassed 60 points in 26 matches, and could set a record for biggest points total by Premiership champions. The current record was set by Sundowns

Mr and Mrs Thabo My last resort to bring back my lost lover. Me and my wife Bridget had given up after losing my job and struggling to keep up with my car and house payment. I had to change schools for my children from private schools to government schools because financially we were not stable anymore, but thanks to my in-law who gave me this woman of God's number, she helped me to turn my life around financially by giving me a magic ring which brought back hope into my life. It cost me only R800 and for the first time in my life I went into a casino with my wife and we used our magic to hit a jackpot. Now my house and car are paid off and my children are back in private schools - now life is so wonderful, so in case you are looking for the best healer, please look no more.

After 10 years of struggling, my husband is back at home after mama Linda showed me my enemies in a mirror . We are now a happy, married couple - thank you, mama Linda. My husband stayed with his girlfriend for 10 years. Without him I struggled to support myself and could not even pay our children's school fees. I visited traditional healers, but with no help. Then I heard of Maria Linda on a radio talk show and my neighbour whom he helped and rescued from black magic. I visited mama Linda and paid R200. He told me about my future and my marriage problems. He put a mirror in a dish with water and I saw the faces of my enemies and my husband's girlfriend. He prayed for me and gave me holy water and oil to wash myself. After two days I saw results, my enemies confessed their wrong doings towards me and my husband left his girlfriend and come back home. I'm now happy after visiting mama Linda .

STRUCTURES such as the Copa Coca-Cola Football Tournament are essential to the development of the next generation of stars for our national teams. This is according to Molefi Ntseki, South African u.17 coach. This Free State-born is one of the leading African experts on football development. With the competition having kicked off last month, Ntseki will more than likely be attending some of the regional matches across the country. “We have identified the creation of development programmes as a crucial focus for the coming years, and each and every one has an important role to play in helping us unearth those players with national team potential,” said the former coach of Harmony Academy and Bloemfontein Celtic. “We need to get them into the right structures to continue their development. There is a lot of talent out there,” added the man who had qualified Amajimbos for the 2015 Fifa u.17 World Cup in Chile. The 18-team tournament will be played from 17 October to 8 November. Sharon Keith, Marketing Director of Coca-Cola South Africa, said they introduced a new campaign element to this year’s Copa tournament called “What role will you play”. “The campaign is a call to action for all South Africans to support and celebrate teenagers getting active and healthy. It connects to the heart of Copa which aims to inspire young people to be active and healthy through their shared passion for the sport of football,” explained Keith. The campaign features eight current and former Copa players from across the globe, each embodying and representing the dynamic and unique roles that make up a successful team – The Rock, the Heart, the Perfectionist, the Rebel, the Joker, the Impossible, the Machine and the Artist. Among these global ambassadors is 16-year-old Siyanda Jezile from Centurion. He represents The Artist – a character renowned for their hypnotising flair and technique on the field. “Working closely with ambassadors who have experienced the unique spirit of Copa Coca-Cola, this year’s tournament will recognise the contributions of all players who are the real stars on the pitch while championing parents, coaches, schools and associations who are helping teens achieve their dreams every day – because everyone has a role to play,” said Keith. “We are also looking to further extend the campaign locally, by identifying and recognising young South African footballers from the 2015 tournament who also embody the characteristics of our global ambassadors.” With over 1,3 million teenagers from more than 60 countries taking part, the eight-year old tournament is recognised globally as the leading grassroots football programme in the world.

Things in my life went from good to worse in a very short time. My love live, financial problems jealousy, my husband’s family were all against me. Luckily I came across Marria through a friend. She helped me and showed me my enemies through a mirror for only R200. She did miracles in my life. She told me all my problems without mentioning anything to her. She showed me the people who worked hard to see me suffering some of which were my friends and relatives. She performed a special prayer, washed away my bad luck and cleansed my home. Gave me a love potion with a ring for my financial problems in less than five days, my husband was always by my side and my enemies confessed and asked for forgiveness. Come and visit me at Northridge Mall.
