It is DDay for region President of Safa Thabo Mofutsanyana’s seat challenged } Tladi Moloi SATURDAY is D-Day for the Safa Thabo Mofutsanyana Region. The region, which recently made headlines with some of the Local Football Association (LFA) members voting a motion of no confidence, is set to hold its annual general meeting (AGM). The AGM is scheduled for Saturday at the John Paul Centre, 2 km outside Bethlehem on the road to Paul Roux. It is known to many as Eden. It remains to be seen who will challenge the president’s hot seat, occupied by veteran Abiel Lethoba. He has been the president of the region since 2006. However, Thite Titi, chairperson of the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Football Association,
sounds like a brave man and he might be interested in the seat. Titi has been pointed out many times with the recent call a fortnight ago that they wanted a region down. He had pointed out that they needed transformation in the region. Even though the date has been set for the AGM, there are
threats doing the rounds that the anticipated AGM might not take place as some of the LFA’s were not happy with the results of the AGMs at local level. A close source in the region revealed to Express Eastern Free State that there were two camps in the Thabo Mofutsanyana Region. “There is a camp with a

notorious name, ‘regime change’, which supports Titi, and they would love to see him guiding the region. “They sound very strong, but we are not sure if they will defeat the current structure. The other team is the one that supports the current president,” the source said. The current structure remains
quiet as it plays its cards close to its chest. Thokoa Mofokeng, the regional deputy chairperson, said so far they saw the complains from Nketoane and Phumelela. He said those were complaints because a dispute should be lodged with the electoral officer after the elections and added that would be final. Mofokeng said there were no disputes lodged with the electoral officers. “Most of the teams who have signed the dispute complained about the reports. “It was Safa’s decision to have elections,” he said. Mofokeng said they never received any mandate from the national office to postpone the elections.
