Raped 17 times

Police unable to trace any of the suspects } Jabulani Dlamini

SELINA MOGALE*, a 41-year-old domestic worker, has been raped by at least 17 men in the last three years. The mother of one, who lives in Phase 4 outside Bloemfontein, said she was bitterly disappointed in the Bloemspruit police as not a single suspect had ever been caught. “I have not received an update on any of the four cases I have opened with the police. Instead some of the officers have started to make fun of me when I keep returning to report new cases,” she said. Mogale recounted to Express how, in one of the more horrific incidents, she and her boyfriend had been accosted by eight men last winter. “We were walking in Freedom Square when eight men appeared and threatened us. My boyfriend ran away and the men dragged me into a nearby veld and raped me for several hours,” Mogale said. The other three incidents happened at her home. “My house has been broken into about six times and on three of those occasions I was raped,” said Mogale. Mogale said because the rapes took place in the dark she could not say for sure how many men had been involved, but she remembered hearing at least three different voices each time. “On one occasion I can only assume there were three men involved because they even prepared food and drinks for themselves, I counted three glasses on the table hence I think there were three assailants,” she said, while checking with her sister to avoid mixing the facts of the incidents. Mogale’s sister, who lives nearby, said her sister was a mentally strong person to have survived these incidents.

Asked how she had managed to stay strong despite her horrific experiences, Mogale said she had to be strong because she did not have any family in Phase 4. “I cannot run away from my house, it

is my home,” she said. Lt Col Thandi Mbambo, police spokesperson, said they could only find two cases on their records when checking against Mogale’s name with one of them being recorded as a case

of house breaking. “The two cases have been closed as the police are unable to trace the suspects,” Mbambo said. , Not her real name. S See video at www.express-news.co.za.

What was your big break in 2008? I got to open for big acts like Ringo and Stimela at the Mangaung African Cultural Festival and this is where I feel things started to happen for me. You have performed in almost all the provinces in South Africa. How did this happen? In 2010, I made it to the top 57 of the wildly popular Idols South Africa and in the same year I also made the top 30 of South African Pop Stars I was the only contestant representing the Free State and I think this is where I was really noticed. Amongst the people you thank for your career taking off is none other than the Free State premier, Ace Magashule why is this? I attended the recent TNA Business Briefing held in Bloemfontein and because Magashule had heard me perform before, he simply pointed to me and said I must sing. It was a live recording and they ended up broadcasting my performance to the whole of South Africa and for that I am grateful.

What are you busy with now, career wise? I do a lot of corporate gigs and also perform regularly at government functions. I also get booked quite a lot for weddings and other private celebrations. With a voice like yours you must be a hit with the women? Anyone special? I actually only recently met the lady in my life, who is a very private person, and I have the international television star Terry Pheto to thank for “accidentally” hooking us up. How did Terry “accidentally” hook you up? I was performing at an event held in Bloemfontein recently where Terry was master of ceremonies. She saw me next to the lady and referred to her as my girlfriend and I took it from there. ) To watch Serame perform John Legend’s hit song, All of me, visit www.express-news.co.za.

More pressure could bring bodies home ALMOST 60 days have passed since the multi-story guesthouse of the Synagogue Church of All Nations collapsed in Lagos, Nigeria. This tragic incident took place on 12 September, but the news about this only spread five days later. Among the 116 people who were crushed to death were 80 South African citizens. They were on a religious pilgrimage to the Nigerian church led by the charismatic pastor TB Joshua. Though the South African government, through the Department of International Relations and Co-operation (Dirco), was helpful in expediting the return of 25 South African survivors on 22 September – the same cannot be said about the return of the 80 bodies of those who had passed away. Families of the deceased feel hard done by Dirco’s lethargic pace in ensuring the repatriation of their loved ones from Nigeria. South Africans have varying views on whether government should get involved in the repatriation of the 80 bodies or not. Some are irked that the deceased pilgrims had a plethora of local churches to choose from and did not have to travel to Lagos for spiritual healing. Admittedly, the deceased jetted to Lagos on private business, but the onus lies with government to look after the safety of South African citizens on foreign soil through embassies.

DR ALIZA LE ROUX of the Department of Zoology and Entomology on the University of the Free State’s (UFS) Qwaqwa Campus, is one of ten young scientists who were recently inaugurated as a new member of the South African Young Academy of Science (Sayas). Not only was she inducted into the society in October, but she was also elected to serve on the executive committee for Sayas. Le Roux’s research focus is on cognitive ecology, behavioural ecology and zoology. She has expressed her excitement about the new position, and is already developing new ideas with her new colleagues on drawing more young people into the South African scientific community. This position provides a regional and international platform to raise the profile of science in general, and Le Roux hopes to be active in Sayas’s new mentorship collaboration with the New York Academy of Sciences, and to introduce new methods of scientific outreach using social media. Inspired by the students on the Qwaqwa Campus, Le Roux hopes to specifically target relatively isolated rural campuses in Sayas’s activities. Prof. Corli Witthuhn, vice-rector: Research at the UFS, said: “Aliza le Roux is an outstanding young scientist on our Qwaqwa Campus. I am very excited about the young researchers on our

and international research and development agendas. It provides a national platform where leading young scholars from all disciplines in the country can interact, and also access international networking and career development opportunities. Sayas contributes primarily to the achievement of the national strategic priority of strengthening the skills and human-resource base of the country. Its particular niche is to focus on strengthening high-level skills among young scientists and the promotion of scientific excellence.

ON Friday, domestic soybean prices closed higher at the back of the weak rand and higher Chicago prices. Soybean spot closed at R5 578/ton, which is R152/ton higher than the previous day, and also 6% higher than the levels seen about a month ago. According to Oilworld, the domestic sharp growth of production and crushing supplies of soybean and sunflower to satisfy the domestic requirements curbed import demand for vegetable oils and oil-meals in October/September 2013-’14. Soybean crushings were boosted by 31% to a record of 0,71 million tons and sunflower seed by 32% to a record of 0,76 million tons in 12 months, ending September 2014. ) For more information contact Wandile Sihlobo at wandile.sihlobo@grainsa.co.za.

Keep on praying no matter what } Past. Mutombo Kumwimba IT is the will of God for us to run back to His feet when we realise that we have sinned. Still it is His will to forgive us, help us get back on our feet and help us not to make the same mistake again. God’s nature reveals that He does not remember our sins once we truly repent and run to Him for grace to keep in line with holiness. Isaiah 1 verse 18: Come now, let us settle the matter though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are red as crimson, they shall be like

wool. Here we see God’s genuine willingness to rescue us from sin, and if He said that though our sin are like scarlet it will be white as snow, though they are red as crimson they will be like wool. This is proof that when God changes the colour of sin it means that it becomes impossible for Him to remember them, therefore when you sin as we all do, do not run from God. Rather run back to Him with a broken heart and He will forgive you. This is God’s side of the story. The torment of sin is Satan’s side of the story. It is his way of

making people of God feel unworthy, dirty, unholy, undeserving, unwanted and like awful sinners. Revelations 12 verse 10: The Bible calls him the accuser of our brothers, meaning he is the one tormenting us in our mind and reminding us that we are sinners even though we have repented. Satan reminds us because sin is

his food, therefore as a Christian once you eat his food, you sin, he would like you to stay with him. That is why he torments us each time we pray. Many Christians have stopped praying because they are tormented by Satan. They have become convinced that God cannot forgive them, and that even though they pray, God will never answer them. A person may start praying, but a picture of adultery will come to mind and they will stop praying. For some it is a picture of murder, lies, corruption, jealousy and so on and this dicourages

them. The reality is God has forgiven us, we are washed in the blood of Jesus Christ and heaven is our home. Crestone Hills X secure and aesthetic CRESTONE HILLS, located on your way to the Botanical Gardens, justly meets the requirements for potential buyers looking for a secure, attractive and family-orientated complex. The fully fenced electrical boundary wall and armed reaction services further ensures security measures. The front gate is protected by a secure, remote controlled gate and works on a cellphone system. An established 24 hour CCTV camera surveillance system has also been installed and is carefully monitored by the security officer who is on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The cameras are situated to cover most of the hooks, nooks and crooks where potential perpetrators may hide. Within seconds the guard at the security gate will pick up any suspicious behaviour and react dutifully. Furthermore, when your children play at the communal area, you can check up on them from your cellphone. The extra security measures ensure that your children can play safely while you enjoy leisure time. Crestone Hills is vastly approaching maturity and is increasingly becoming one of the most popular estates in Bloemfontein.

The interested buyer does not only invest in Crestone Hills for safety and security reasons, but also for the sheltered and aesthetic layout of the landscaping. The landscaping has been designed with a pleasing geometric space in mind while keeping the indigenous plants and rock formations intact. An abundance of seasonal colours is incorporated into an appealing ground pattern. The design further adds to the privacy measures from the street, without cluttering everything together or creating unprotected areas where potential intruders may hide.

The units available at Crestone Hills differ. A choice between threeor four-bedroom units with spacious bathrooms and plenty of cupboard space is available. Crestone Hills is an ideal family orientated complex. ) For more information, contact Alice om 076-3914068 or alicez@lenovaconstruction.co.za, or phone Solomon on 076-117-0899. Trip to Japan gives new insights AS the Springboks landed in Europe ready for the Autumn International Series, Asics said that the team visited the Asics Institute of Sports Science in Kobe, Japan, to undergo special performance and apparel testing ahead of an important year. As the official technical kit sponsor to the South African Rugby Union (Saru), including the Springbok rugby team, Asics is working closely with Saru to build a strong competitive advantage ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2015 Tournament. Ahead of the upcoming Autumn Internationals, Asics ambassadors Tendai Mtawarira and Eben Etzebeth were joined by Jean de Villiers, Bismarck du Plessis, Duane Vermeulen, Patrick Lambie, Willie le Roux and Cornal Hendricks, as well as head coach, Heyneke Meyer, on the five-day trip to gain insight into what Asics can provide. The exact details of the testing and development of the new Springboks jersey won’t be revealed until it is launched in 2015, but Asics is committed to providing the Springbok team the best chance of achieving success at the Rugby World Cup 2015 Tournament and onwards by giving them a competitive advantage. “The trip to Japan was very special. We had a great time and really enjoyed our stay in Kobe, as well as experienced a new culture,” says Tendai “The Beast” Mtawarira. “The one thing that stood out for me as an athlete was the Asics Institute of Sports Science. It is all about preparation, so seeing the level of detail and research that goes into making our kit made us all really appreciate the work Asics is putting in. Working with Asics is another part of the process we are putting in place to becoming

the best team in the world,” he concludes. Whilst in Japan, the team also hosted a special training session with two local schools as part of Asics’ commitment to the sport of rugby and developing the game ahead of the 2019 Rugby World Cup Tournament in Japan. Asics’ products are the result of years of research and development, with a focus on bio-mechanical insights from athletes. The Springboks’ visit to the Asics Institute of Sports Science allows Asics to work closely with the team to observe and analyse their physical movements and power and utilise these performance insights to feed into the final designs of the team’s apparel and footwear. Katsumi Kato, director and managing executive officer of the Asics Corporation, says: “We are excited about the Saru athletes visiting the Asics Institute of Sports Science. Since the partnership began with the Made in South Africa campaign we understood the importance of heritage and pride in the Springbok jersey. This is something that is important to Asics and by inviting Saru to Japan we are sharing the research and science which is at the heart of our heritage and products. Creating a strong partnership will ensure a continued and sustained period of success for Asics and the Springboks.” Meyer concludes: “Working closely with Asics provides an extra level of insight which at the highest level of sport in today’s game is invaluable. It was a fascinating trip and one that only serves to strengthen our relationship with Asics. We are now looking ahead to the Autumn Internationals and performing at our best against some excellent opposition.”

South African duo in top 10 SOUTH AFRICA’S Jason Smith and NJ Arnoldi combined for a ninth-place finish in the 43rd Juan Carlos Tailhade Cup Tournament at the Los Lagartos Country Club in Pilar, Argentina, on Sunday. Arnoldi from Ekurhuleni carded rounds of 71, 77 and 74 and closed with a three-under-par 68 for a final total of 290. Smith from Gauteng North opened with a two over 73, added rounds of 76 and 75 and carded 73 in the final round to contribute 297 to the team’s tally. The South African duo was joint fifth after an opening round 144, but slipped to joint tenth after a second round 153. They held on to tenth with 149 in the third round and the final round 141 gave them a final tally of 587. “We are disappointed, but pleased that we managed to improve,” Smith said. The South African pair will line up in the stroke-play qualifier for the sixth oldest amateur championship at the nearby Highland Park Country Club along with a host of local nationals and 22 international campaigners in the Juan Carlos Tailhade Cup Tournament. – Supersport.com

TESTIMONY

Mr and Mrs Thabo My last resort to bring back my lost lover. Me and my wife Bridget had given up after losing my job and struggling to keep up with my car and house payment. I had to change schools for my children from private schools to government schools because financially we were not stable anymore, but thanks to my in-law who gave me this woman of God's number, she helped me to turn my life around financially by giving me a magic ring which brought back hope into my life. It cost me only R800 and for the first time in my life I went into a casino with my wife and we used our magic to hit a jackpot. Now my house and car are paid off and my children are back in private schools - now life is so wonderful, so in case you are looking for the best healer, please look no more.

AFTER 8YEARS OF SUFFERING "WE FINALLY GOT HELP" I have been happily married for 25 years with 3 beautiful kids but the last 8years have been a mayhem between us. My husband had a successful business that started collapsing, he begun drinking and started coming back late & hence we started fighting and eventually we Belinda & husband DIVORCED. As a caring wife/mother I (happily in love again) decided to fight to have my family back TOGETHER. I had started giving up after failing to get help from priests, gurus & healers i visited. I had lost hope but a friend of mine introduced me to Baba Mangu who had saved his son from going to prison so i decided to try ONE more time. I paid only R200 for consultation and she foretold me all my problems & used water to show me my enemy's.SHE gave me a magical ring, cleansed me from bad luck, did some special prayers & after 7days i FINALLY got what i had been waiting for the last 8years.My husband & children are back and we are HAPPILY MARRIED again.

Saintfiet ‘did not see his dismissal coming’ } Sidwell Guduka TOM SAINTFIET, former Free State Stars coach, said he had not seen his dismissal coming. The Belgian mentor was relieved of his duties last Thursday following his side’s 5-2 defeat at the hands of visiting Polokwane City at the Charles Mopeli Stadium, just a day before he was shown the door. He had only been at the helm for 11 matches. However, Saintfiet said he had no hard feelings against the Bethlehemside. Instead he wished Stars the best of luck this season and beyond. “Honestly, it never crossed my mind that I would be without a job after the City game. I thought we played our best attacking football this season during the first 45 minutes. Unfortunately the match was not live on television,” Saintfiet told Express. “We created a dozen clear-cut chances in the first half, but at the end of the match the result was shocking. No disrespect to City, but I mean, if you lose 2-5 against City it is unacceptable. It was disappointing to lose a match in that fashion,” he said. The 41-year-old becomes the sixth coach to lose his job in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) this term after Cavin Johnson (SuperSport United), Kosta Papic (Chippa United), Craig Rosslee (AmaZulu), Boebie Solomons (Polokwane City) and Zeca Marques (Moroka Swallows, resigned). “Naturally, I’m sad to lose my job. I’ve been with this club for four months and it has been my home. I have a good working relationship with the players, the technical team, the medical team and the management. It is really sad to leave them,” Saintfiet said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity I had to coach this club, but now I have to move on and focus on my future. “I’m convinced Stars will finish the season among the top-eight teams. I wish them all the best,” he said. Saintfiet had signed a three-year contract with Stars, but he could not even last six months in the hot seat. “When I joined the club we had agreed to work together for three years, but I cannot change the management’s decision.

Proteas learn from series THE Blue Label Telecoms T20 Proteas captain, JP Duminy, says some key individual players taking part in the One-Day International (ODI) series starting on Friday will take confidence from their performances in this series, while the new caps will take a lot of learning back to South Africa. “Someone like Rilee (Rossouw) would have taken a lot out of this series,” Duminy said after the match. “In the one-day format he hasn’t really taken opportunities to score big runs as yet, he will take a lot out of it. I think on the whole, the guys who have come in without a lot of international cricket experience now have a good feel of what it is about. “It’s (Australia) no better place to learn your cricket from an international point of view. Playing against Australia is always a tough challenge, so there is a lot of experience that they can gain from this.” It was a disappointing end to Duminy’s first series as captain; however, much pride can be taken from the way the team held on to stretch the match to the last two balls. “In an ideal world we would have liked that but to defend as well as we did in that match was a positive.” Duminy says Australia will take some confidence and momentum going into the ODI series starting in Perth on Friday, but the return of the Proteas’ sextet of senior players will be a good morale lift for the squad.

SACKED: Tom Saintfiet was served with a dismissal letter by Free State Stars following their 2-5 loss to Polokwane City last Wednesday. Photo: Supplied “My intention was to help the club to end the season in a respectable position,” he explained. “I love working in South Africa, and will consider any coaching opportunity in the PSL,” he added. Meanwhile, Rantsi Mokoena, Stars’ general manager, said Saintfiet had been fired following a string of poor results. “We had a meeting with the coach and both parties agreed that after a string of poor results it would be best for them to part ways in an effort to try and remedy the current situation. “We wish Tom Saintfiet everything of the best in his future endeavours and we wish that things could have turned out differently, but such is the nature of football,” said Mokoena.

“Kinnah Phiri will be the interim coach until we make further announcements and the rest of the technical team and playing personnel remains the same,” he concluded. The post-Saintfiet era begins under Phiri’s watch when Stars travel to the Bidvest Stadium for a date with Bidvest Wits on Saturday, 22 November, at 20:15. Ea Lla Koto are 11th on the log having collected 11 points after ten matches. They have won three matches, drawn two and lost five of those encounters. Stars also lost to SuperSport United in the opening round of the Telkom Knockout Cup series last month. ) For more sports stories, visit www.express-news.co.za. X1PEV45H-EX121114

Things in my life went from good to worse in a very short time. My love live, financial problems jealousy, my husband’s family were all against me. Luckily I came across Sonia through a friend. She helped me and showed me my enemies through a mirror for only R200. She did miracles in my life. She told me all my problems without mentioning anything to her. She showed me the people who worked hard to see me suffering some of which were my friends and relatives. She performed a special prayer, washed away my bad luck and cleansed my home. Gave me a love potion with a ring for my financial problems in less than five days, my husband was always by my side and my enemies confessed and asked for forgiveness. Come and visit me at Bayswater.
