R7 m for China Week Concern about Departments of Health and Education aired
} Selloane Khalane THE Free State Government has set aside R7 million of its R29,374 billion 2015-’16 budget on hosting a China Week in April. An estimated R5 million of the R7 million will be bankrolled by the Department of Economic Development and Environmental Affairs, which was allocated R472,2 million by the provincial MEC for Finance, Elzabe Rockman. The budget for the various departments of the Free State government was tabled by Rockman last Wednesday (11/03) at the Mangaung City Hall in Bloemfontein. The remaining R2 million apportioned for China Week will be accounted for by
Premier Elias “Ace” Magashule’s office, which has been allocated R283,9 million for the current financial year. The Premier’s Office also apportioned R5 million for billboards. Rockman said the provincial budget increased by 4,28% from the 2014-’15 budget, which was R27,942 billion. Although the Free State has been given R29,374 billion, about R465,9 million is going to be shifted away from the province, according to Rockman. She said approximately 71% of the reduction was as a result of the shifting of Adult Basic Education and Training (Abet) programmes to the National Department of Higher Education.
Rockman said the shifting of the function of Port Health Services to the National Department of Health had also contributed to the decrease of equitable share in the province. A large chunk of the budget, worth R11,538 billion, has been allocated to the Department of Education, and this has increased from R11,259 billion in the 2014-’15 financial year, as well as the Department of Health, R8,675 billion which increased from R8,155 billion in the 2014-’15 financial year. Both the departments of Health and Education were faced with difficulties this last financial term, apparently arising from financial problems. The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture
and Recreation received R679,6 million whilst the Department of Roads, Police and Transport got R2,391 billion. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has been allocated R744,5 million with R1,224 billion allocated to the Department of Co-operative Governance, Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements (Department of Human Settlement and Housing). The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure has received R1,492 billion. Wouter Wessels, Freedom Front Plus leader in the Free State Legislature, has criticised Rockman for spending millions on the China Week project while the Departments of Health and Education are battling with accruals.

CUT launches HIV programme A RECENTLY launched project at the Central University of Technology (CUT) will see the Higher Education HIV/Aids Programme (HEAIDS) integrated into its academic programmes in response to the national call from Higher Education South Africa (HESA). HESA has taken it upon itself to spearhead the fight against the HIV/Aids pandemic that continues to affect university graduates across the country. The HEAIDS Programme is a nationally co-ordinated initiative to develop and strengthen the capacity of South Africa’s higher education sector to respond comprehensively to the challenges posed by the HIV/Aids pandemic and to play a leadership role in the South African HIV/Aids response. The CUT is among the 18 South African Higher Education institutions that HESA has challenged to play a leading role in the country’s battle to alleviate the HIV/Aids pandemic in the society. The CUT launched its project this year with the aim of introducing HIV/Aids as a specific module that will be compulsory for all CUT students especially the vulnerable first-year students. According to Chichi Maimane, project leader and director: Centre for Curriculum Development (CCD), most of the departments have shown interest and a positive attitude during the launch and have joined forces to take the institution to greater heights. Maimane also mentioned that she would be working closely with departmental representatives who are equipped
‘We want to support staff to successfully integrate HIV/Aids in the curriculum so that we can help raise the students’ level of un derstanding of this pan demic.’ – Chichi Maimane with all the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure proper implementation and execution of the pilot project. “Everyone is a change agent. We want to capacitate and support staff to successfully integrate HIV/Aids in the curriculum so that together as a collective, we can help raise the students’ level of understanding of this pandemic and how it relates to their professions, and the role they can play in reducing the transmission thereof,” she says. The aim of the programme is to communicate key issues and to create a supportive and caring environment, thereby reducing the threat of the spread of the disease, to promote safe sexual behaviour and to teach, conduct research and share knowledge with societies. To achieve this, HESA has injected an amount of R450 000 towards rolling out the project for the academic years 2015-’16.
PHUTHADITJHABA. – Vusi Tshabalala, the executive mayor of the Malutia-Phofung (MAP) Local Municipality, recently took part in a cleaning campaign. Tshabalala and some of his office-based employees left the daily office work behind and joined the MAP Community Work Programme (CWP) personnel in keeping Qwaqwa clean. On Friday, 6 March, the campaign spurred action in Riverside and according to Tshabalala, they were going to visit almost all the wards in the municipality. This community-based environmental movement was initiated to clean up and conserve the milieu of Riverside, as well as to involve community workers in municipal campaigns. The cleaning work included cutting grass, picking up garbage and emptying litterbins in the area, as well as sweeping the streets. “This will be an on-going project. “The campaign would never have taken place without the involvement of the CWP employees and the support of the community,” Tshabalala said. “This is how we should work in order to move forward. We appreciate your contribution.”

Youth clubs honoured for work THE Southern African Association of Youth Clubs (SAAYC) and the deputy minister in the Presidency responsible for youth development, Buti Manamela, honoured four youth clubs last Friday for their community work in the areas of art, entrepreneurship, sports and education. Each club received R10 000 in prize money, a certificate of honour and excellence, as well as a trophy. The top clubs were selected from 12 finalists that hail from the Free State, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North-West, Western Cape and Kwa-Zulu Natal. The clubs participated in the Dreamers Awards by submitting their entry forms in a number of categories that included entrepreneurship, education, sports, arts and culture. An external, independent panel of adjudicators assessed entries and shortlisted 12 clubs who were then invited to attend the Dreamers Awards – all costs covered by SAAYC. “Our programmes encourage positive
thinking among young people and provide opportunities for them within our stable. I’m humbled to honour these young heroes today,” said Jeff Mkhwanazi, executive director at SAAYC. Dinaletsana tsa Bokamoso is the overall winner in the arts category. Based in the Free State Province, the club focuses on Tswana choreography (known as phara-tlhatlhe), music composition, drama, poetry and dance. It also teaches learners from various schools about the importance of heritage and crime prevention. “We go all-out to provide the best support and opportunities possible for our youth clubs,” Mkhwanazi says. “We can’t do this alone and appreciate the support from the Presidency and deputy minister. “We hope they will continue to work with us next year when we will have our 4th SAAYC Annual Dreamers Awards where we will recognise youth clubs that stand out through their activities, performance, growth and talent.”
Chicken à-la-farm turns out to be a huge success A GROUP of hard-working employees in Warrenton are not only workers at Warrenton Superchicken, they also co-own the company that is situated next to the N12. They are people who ensure that you enjoy the chicken that you purchase from your local supermarkets. Warrenton Superchicken is not a big company, but from the time they started in 2002 to today, they have had their fair share of troubles and triumphs. According to the members involved, the first phase of starting the business was so difficult that some of the members gave up and left, but those who stayed and were patient enough to wait, now know that the recipe to success is patience. “The year 2013 was a turning point for us,” said Mabel Motlhale the business administrator, who
was accompanied by her colleague Rebecca Pitso, the production manager, during the interview. “In 2002 we acquired this farm where we are now and started a co-operative. We started this farm with the hope of moving into other forms of farming at a later stage, but the chicken farming did not succeed and we were stuck in limbo for 11 years. “We got lucky in 2013 when the Department of Agriculture and Land Reform in the Northern Cape province came to our aid and pushed us.” Motlhale said that the department assisted them by training them in production management, computer skills, and financial management. The department also assisted them with a grant. According to Motlhale, the 24 ha
farm is an empowerment gesture from government to the community of Warrenton. The abattoir section of the farm has invigorated the business, because they grow the chickens, and are responsible for the final packaging as the slaughtering is now done in-house. The farm has seven chicken coups, which have a 62 000 holding capacity. Motlhale, however, said that they could afford to house only 7 000 chickens at a time, because of the limited market. This is seen as a loss as the available space is not being fully utilised. “We are looking for a broader market because we are currently only supplying individuals in our community. “We hope to spread to other provinces to widen our market,” said Motlhale.
The Warrenton Superchicken farm has 53 workers, of whom 17 are temporary workers. Motlhale believes that if they can find a market, they will definitely need more staff and this will help decrease unemployment in the community. Pitso and Motlhale took the Express Northern Cape reporter on a tour through the abattoir, to offer first-hand experience on how the slaughtering process is conducted. The chickens are brought from the chicken coups in crates and are put on a scale to measure their weight. In preparation for the slaughter the chickens are shocked in order not to stress them when they are slaughtered. After being slaughtered they are then moved to a hot-water pot before being put in a plucking
machine. According to Motlhale, they package their chickens in 2 kg and 5 kg bags of mixed portions, livers, hearts, necks and intestines at the abattoir. “We know for instance that in the course of our operation a vet can drop in at any time. “So we carry out our slaughter process in accordance with the industry’s rules and regulations. “The SPCA and Department of Labour also drop in from time to time,” said Motlhale. When asked about the shop at the entrance of the farm, Motlhale said it was used for distribution purposes. Pitso proudly pointed out the generator next to the abattoir and said that they were not affected by load shedding. ) Go to our website www.express-news.co.za for the video.

Battle ensues over RDP house } Tladi Moloi FICKSBURG. – A new RDP house at Caledon Park near Ficksburg has caused a rift between Julia Vries and the family of her ex-husband. After staying in a two-roomed house for six years, Vries has now been confronted by the family of her ex-husband who claims the house belongs to them. The house which had been rebuilt in terms of the RDP scheme was handed over to Vries on Friday (13/03). In total, eight houses were handed over to various beneficiaries by the Free State premier Ace Magashule. Vries, a mother of two children aged 9 and 12, has been living in the same house for the past 17 years. She said she and her former husband, David Kraukam, were only married traditionally. “He left me in the house six years ago and since then I have been living here with my three children. One of my children died a few years ago,” she added. She said she had been living peacefully for the past six years but that things had suddenly taken a nasty turn immediately after the new house had been built. She said Kraukam was now living with his new wife and she believed this new wife was influencing Kraukam to claim the house. “The house was destroyed last year. “After that the family and the mother of the ex-husband have been coming to me claiming the house. “They told me I should not even think of living in that house because it belongs to them. “I wouldn’t have had a problem if they had come to claim the house in the past while it was a two-roomed house,” she said. Olly Mlamleli, the MEC for Cooperative

Punishment still used SIPHO TSUNKE, Congress of South African Students (COSAS) Free State treasurer: THIS statement follows a recent visit of a team from the provincial executive to the Thabo Mofutsanyana district. This submission focuses specifically on corporal punishment in relation to the convention against torture and protection of students’ rights. Despite the fact that legislation and case law have outlawed the use of judicial corporal punishment, as well as the use of corporal punishment in schools, research indicates that corporal punishment is still widely used at schools and it is for this reason Cosas in the Free State seeks to take radical action. As the Cosas, an organisation totally devoted to protect and serve the interests and rights of students at pretertiary level, we note that there has been growing concern among those we serve with regard to corporal
punishment, which is defined as a kind of physical punishment that involves the deliberate infliction of pain on children of the working class and the poor. The use of corporal punishment within schools was prohibited by the South African Schools Act of 1996 that states that no person may administer corporal punishment at a school and that any person who contravenes is guilty of an offence. This practice is part and parcel of all the dirt from Bantu education and its abolishment is also a policy resolution of the ANC and the South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU). Legislation has deemed this practice illegal but our schools continue to victimize our members (learners) on a daily basis.

New name for festival THE Vryfees will henceforth be known as the Vrystaat Arts Festival. In the new logo Arts Festival and Tsa-Botjhaba will be positioned with Kunstefees, but Vrystaat will be retained in Afrikaans. Ricardo Peach, director of the festival, says it is important that the festival expands. While it continues to serve Afrikaans speakers in their language, English, Sotho and international productions and exchange will also be included. According to Peach, the festival has now come of age and the public is receptive to further developments. “Because of the festival’s success to date, it has the potential to grow and become even more successful,” he said. This change was brought about after discussions with the local public and with international stakeholders. Ideas that have emerged in the consultation was the establishment of a Fringe festival, a Pan-African Performing Arts Market Mangaung (PAFPAMM), more public art, a
continuation of the successful Programme for Innovation and Artform Development (PIAD) that took place last year in conjunction with the University of the Free State (UFS), and also to involve art and artists in arts, health and education programmes. “The larger goal is to develop Bloemfontein into one of the key progressive, cultural hubs of Africa,” says Peach. For that, however, money is required in the long run from the community to invest in itself. In other countries citizens contribute privately to the arts because they know it is both an investment in their community, children and their environment, says Peach. With that in mind, Peach is instigating the first ever private giving initiative in the Free State for the PIAD, combining food and other creative industries, at an event titled Gourmand: Free State Fine Dining Fundraiser. The PIAD, which focuses on the connection between technology, community and experimental art, is a great example of the value of such private giving investment in communities. About half of the artists from
across the country who participated in the project last year, were selected for a large-scale art project currently in Cape Town, Infecting the City, because of their wider vision for what art can contribute to public space and community. Infecting the City involves various interdisciplinary artists who break down the barriers between art, public space, community and viewers. Private donations for the arts in places like Australia are quite common, says Peach. Gourmand: Free State Fine Dining Fundraiser, the first event of this kind in the Free State, will be held on 27 March at Liedjiesbos, Bloemfontein. Chef Hugo Barnard of Cape Town will prepare the tasty kitchen dishes that will be served with wines from the Durbanville Hills Estate. Money donated at the Gourmand: Free State Fine Dining Fundraiser will be tax-deductible. Interested parties can contact Louise Klopper at info@louiseklopper.co.za or Philippa Tumubweinee at tumubweinee@me.com.
Call unto Father God } Tim Omotoso JEREMIAH 33:3 (KJV): “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Calling unto God is our responsibility. If we really want to understand what “call unto me” means, we have to calculate how many hours we have in a day. As many hours as we have, is as many hours as we should call unto Him. Any hour we do not call unto Him, is submitted and sacrificed to the world. That is the reason why the Bible says in Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” We need to take time to call unto Him, or we will be in darkness. God the Father said, “call unto Me”. God the Son says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew
11:28). Anytime we call unto God, He will answer and do the rest. We have only one duty, obligation, and responsibility that will give God a mandate regarding us. That responsibility is to call upon Him. God will bring to pass whatever we believe He will, but He still wants us to call on Him. Prayer Point: Call the blood of Jesus seven times, His name once and pray: “Lord, uproot everything that the enemy has planted in my life. Anywhere my destiny has been buried, Lord, dig it out. In Jesus’ name.” WoW: “The best way to arrest the devil is to rest in Christ.” X Tim Omotoso ) Info@timomotoso.org. Call 076-155-4712 or 076-019-2721

RAHMAN’S 1-DAY SPECIAL PRAYER “CHANGED OUR LIVES”
After 4 years searching for a right man, N. Marelette is so happy that she recently married a caring husband just 2 months after Rahman had prayed for her.
2 Weeks after attending Rahman's special prayer meeting in Sasolburg, I Mrs. W.S. Jantjies successfully got my first job promotion at work. I had spent 5 years apllying for a job promotion at work.
Mr. S. Hendrik and his wife bought this lovely Vereeniging house, 3 months after attending Rahman's 1 day special prayer.
Mrs. J.F. Langeveldt (Vanderbijlpark):
I meet this powerful man Rahman on a TV program.
Before I had suffered for years and I tried many people for help but all failed. I cound not believe it when he showed me my enemies in form of a dream and whatever they were doing to pull me down. Every single detail he showed me about my enemies was so true.
Rahman accurately read my fortune and told me all my problems without me speaking a single word to him. Within 6 days after his prayers, my husband left his girlfriend and came back to me plus my enemies approached me and confessed the bad things they did to me. Rahman also gave me a special ring to fix my financial problems, and a love crystal that made people at home and at work like me, listen to me and do for me whatever I wanted from them without asking me any questions. The DA will be writing to the speaker of Mangaung to lodge our objection to this practice of dodging accountability. I submitted a Rule 53 question enquiring about the job descriptions and the remuneration packages of newly created posts in the municipality. I also wanted to know whether these positions were provided for in the budget. To my surprise, I only received a vague answer to a single question that also failed to answer the question raised. The other questions were ignored completely. What is of great concern is that this is now a strategy used by the ANC to avoid answering significant questions, and the speaker now refuses to allow follow-up questions for clarity. Council meetings are manipulated to ensure that opposition councillors do not get the opportunity to openly raise pertinent issues. We find ourselves having to ask the same questions repeatedly without proper response. At times we get answers

hours before the ordinary council meeting. The ANC in Mangaung is taking its lead from pres. Jacob Zuma in parliament, who has shown them how to avoid answe-ring tough questions. It is of great importance that specific answers to the questions raised be provided by the governing party – it is the only way we can truly hold them to account. This behaviour contradicts what the honourable executive mayor Thabo Manyoni, who is also the chairperson of Salga, said in his parliamentary speech during the Sona debate in February: “To take South Africa forward, the ANC will have to work together with opposition parties; alone the ANC cannot do it.” Our experience is the very opposite of the statement above. The DA is committed to making Mangaung work for the people of this city. We urge the Mangaung Municipality to abide by the rules of the council and provide effective answers to our questions.

Free wi-fi when you donate THE South African National Blood Service (SANBS) announced that as from Monday (16/03) all 87 donor centres will offer one hour free wi-fi to all donors. Vanessa Raju, national communications manager for the SANBS, says the entity continuously looks at improving the donor experience. “We know that many of our donors spend much of their time on social media platforms downloading other applications, and now with the compliments of the SANBS you have 60 minutes of free access to the internet.” All donors who donate whole blood at any of the donor centres will receive the one hour free wi-fi every 56 days or on their next visit to donate blood. Donors who donate platelets will receive their free access for an hour every four weeks or at their next visit. “Now that we have free wi-fi we want to encourage our donors to take selfies of their donation and post them on our Facebook page or our Twitter handle,” Raju says. Chabane case postponed THE case against a truck driver involved in the crash which killed Public Service and Administration Minister Collins Chabane and two bodyguards has been postponed to 6 April in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court. Chabane’s family members arrived at the court in Limpopo earlier on Tuesday (17/03), ahead of the first appearance of a truck driver involved in the crash. There was a strong media presence awaiting the truck driver’s arrival in court. Chabane and sergeants Lesiba Sekele and Lawrence Lentsoane died on Sunday morning when a truck allegedly made a U-turn in front of their car on the N1 between Mokopane and Polokwane. Chabane and the sergeants died on the scene. The truck driver was unhurt.
The truck driver was arrested and police opened a case of culpable homicide. Police spokesperson Col. Ronel Otto said it was possible the truck driver could have been under the influence of alcohol. “When they arrested him, he took a breathalyser test,” Otto said. “It did indicate that he might have been drinking. So we took him to a hospital for blood tests.” Otto could not say how long it would take for the results of the blood tests to be available. Polokwane Police Cluster commander Maj. Genl. Joseph Maepa, told The Star the truck’s licence disk had expired last year, the driver had a pending case of driving under the influence and is faced by an assault charge. – News24

OFM listeners will be sad to hear that the radio station will be minus three of its top presenters from the beginning of April. This is not a premature April Fools Day joke. Christie Hansen, Mardi Delport and Johrné van Huyssteen will be leaving central South Africa’s leading radio station at the end of March to pursue different careers. Hansen, who hosts Before Dawn every weekday between 04:00 and 06:00 and Die Hansen Saterdag show on Saturday from 09:00 to 12:00, has decided to hang up the radio microphone. He has been with OFM for 17 years. According to a statement released by the station last Wednesday (11/03), Hansen will pursue a business career but will continue to be part of the Grain SA radio team during the Nampo Harvest Day in May. He will also work with OFM on another exciting project later this year. “His amazing ability to adapt to any audience has made him a huge asset to the company,” said Nick Efstathiou, OFM’s general manager. “He has also amassed a loyal following, especially among our older listeners, who will miss him without a doubt.” For Delport it has been an incredible privilege to be part of the station for 11 years. She hosts the Weekend Wake-Up show between 06:00 and 09:00 every Saturday and Sunday. “I will definitely miss my weekends on air with central South Africa X and all the phone calls and messages from listeners across the region,” she said. “Radio brings one into contact with many interesting people with different personalities and interests. It allows you to learn a lot about people, life and yourself,” she said. “The most important lesson I was taught by radio, was to talk less and listen more.” Van Huyssteen will be moving to the

Protecting water resources important NATIONAL WATER WEEK and World Water Day should serve as a reminder to every South African that protecting the country’s water resources from misuse should be high on everyone’s agenda: government, corporate and individual, South African National Bottled Water Association (SANBWA) chief executive, Charlotte Metcalf, says. She says, like the planet we inhabit, our bodies comprise mostly water, and the precious liquid is a vital component of our diet, as well as the healthiest beverage option for societies plagued by diseases such as obesity and diabetes. National Water Week was launched in South Africa on Monday (16/03) in KwaZulu-Natal and culminates in World Water Day on Sunday (22/03) and Metcalf says she hopes it will serve to highlight the challenges facing South Africa’s water future. “South Africa is one of the 30 driest countries in the world with less water per person than countries widely considered to be much drier, such as Namibia and Botswana.” The need to conserve and protect its water sources from irresponsible use and pollution arises from the fact that the country has low levels of rainfall
relative to the world average, with high variability and high levels of evaporation due to the hot climate. “Price increases, improved monitoring infrastructure, proactive intervention measures and a depoliticised environment are just four of the challenges highlighted by experts when it comes to securing the future of South Africa’s water supply,” she says. “Dr Anthony Turton, a scientist specialising in water management as a strategic issue, quotes depoliticising the appointment of technical staff as key. “He claims that South Africa has the best water and environmental legislation in the world, but we are simply unable to implement, so we are in a water crisis. “Julian Conrad, managing director of groundwater and GIS consultancy, GEOSS, also believes we have the right legislation and regulations in place, but wants the price of water to increase. This will allow water conservation measures to be strictly enforced.” Formed in 1997 as a standards setting and representative body, SANBWA is a not-for-profit organisation committed to working with its members to continuously improve and protect the
conservation of all water resources wherever possible, while promoting the image and reputation of bottled water through adherence to global benchmarked standards. Since its inception, SANBWA lobbied the Department of Health to draft legislation specifically governing bottled water. Following these representations and recommendations from SANBWA, and in line with international trends, the Department of Health drew up new legislation specific to the bottled water industry. In July 2007, this legislation was ratified and, for the first time, all enterprises in South Africa producing bottled water for sale to the public were officially regulated. The legislation stipulates what sources of water are acceptable, what types of treatment are required, the maximum levels of certain substances, and what information bottlers must display on their labels. Interestingly, while often under attack for wasting water resources, the industry actually uses less water than just one-and-a-half golf courses. “The South African national usage of water by the bottled water industry equates to 22,7 litres per second.
“By comparison, a golf course uses 1 litre per second per hole or 18 litres per second for an 18-hole golf course – so the bottled water industry’s use is just slightly more than the equivalent used by one golf course.” According to 2012 figures from the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, irrigated agriculture is the largest user of water in South Africa. These figures show that 62% of available water is used for irrigation, 27% is domestic and urban use while 8% is used by mining, industry and power generation and 3% is used by commercial forestry. Unfortunately, because the country wastes some 9 million tonnes of food a year – equivalent to 31,4% of average production – the fact that agriculture is the biggest consumer of water is a “double whammy”. Someone whose research into food waste in South Africa, the magnitude, the cost and impacts has been widely published is Dr Suzan Oelofse, research group leader: Waste for Development in the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research’s Natural Resources and the Environment unit. This research showed that the total water loss as a result of food
waste in South Africa was equivalent to nearly 22% of the total water footprint while the total cost to the country of food waste was some R61,5 billion, or 2,1% of the country’s GDP. Water loss as a result of wasting cereals is the highest (32%) followed by meat (26%). However, the cost impacts of fruit and vegetables are the highest (42%) followed by meat (32%). Oelofse concluded that water use with respect to agricultural production and associated food waste appeared to be highly inefficient, and should be addressed in a bid to enhance both the country’s water and food security. By contrast, bottled water production in South Africa is also a very water efficient business in that it has an extremely low “water usage” factor. “The term ‘water usage’ refers to how much water is used (volume) to make a finished product,” said Metcalf. “This measure – sometimes called ‘water footprint’ – includes both direct and indirect water usage and includes water from boreholes and municipal sources. “The South African industry benchmark is 1.8:1, and there are plants that achieve ratios of as low as 1.2:1 to 1.4:1.”

Why buy in a security complex? SECTIONAL complex living is the fastest growing young home buyer’s choice in the country. Why is it a good idea to buy in a security complex? There are many reasons why it is an exceptional idea to buy in a security complex. We, therefore, find it imperative to give free advice to our future sectional complex buyers and investors, especially first time buyers, on the subject. What is the difference between buying in a secure complex and buying a conventional house in an open neighbourhood? In a stark contrast to the conventional type of house, the security estate offers a wide range of services to its residents, like security. When a body corporate is established, they will also handle issues like garden services, maintenance and the upkeep of your yard and house. Pet control, restructuring matters and other common property issues are also included. Why do I need to buy in a secure complex? When you consider buying a house, there are many things to take into consideration. You may ask yourself what is the difference between buying in a security complex and buying in a normal suburban area. Firstly, we at Lenova Construction ensure that we hire only the best architects to design our units. The outside design complements the area in which it is situated and the interior finishes are top of the range and in line with current trends. Another reason to consider buying in a secure complex is the fact that when you buy from the developer, you can rest assured that you will get the best deal, service and after-sale service. Always remember to buy from an established developer with a good reputation like Lenova Construction and Development. Why is the new trend that the most beautiful houses are only built in a secure complex? Firstly, the trend in South Africa started for a reason that
ELBERT HEIGHTS, in Hillside, right next to the North Ridge mall. affects many South Africans X security. When you buy at a security complex, you are reducing the risk of potential crime. We have installed all possible means to help prevent crime. Why do I need to comply with rules? This is an important question and although you may think that you don’t want to live in a complex where there are strict rules, take a few things into
consideration before you make up your mind. Abiding to the rules will protect you from neighbours with bad taste. What if Aunt Betty suddenly gets the urge to paint her property purple? What your neighbour’s house looks like will have an enormous impact on the value of your property. Everyone living in a security complex also has to maintain their property according to the
rules of the body corporate. This will ensure that your property will never lose its value. Why do I need to pay a levy? Levies are paid towards a body corporate for exactly the abovementioned reasons: to ensure the upkeep, safety and security of your unit and to ensure that rules and regulations are followed which will ensure that your property will never drop in value. We at Lenova Construction and
Development strive to make a positive impact on the property market in Bloemfontein and we hope that all the above information will help you to make informed choices, and decide that it is a brilliant idea to buy into a security complex. Call our office at 076-391-4068 or send Alice an email at alicez@lenovaconstruction.co.za to make an appointment to view any of our prime developments.

Proteas raring to go, says Amla } Lerato Malekutu
After 10 years of struggling, my husband is back at home after mama Linda showed me my enemies in a mirror . We are now a happy, married couple - thank you, mama Linda. My husband stayed with his girlfriend for 10 years. Without him I struggled to support myself and could not even pay our children's school fees. I visited traditional healers, but with no help. Then I heard of Maria Linda on a radio talk show and my neighbour whom he helped and rescued from black magic. I visited mama Linda and paid R200. He told me about my future and my marriage problems. He put a mirror in a dish with water and I saw the faces of my enemies and my husband's girlfriend. He prayed for me and gave me holy water and oil to wash myself. After two days I saw results, my enemies confessed their wrong doings towards me and my husband left his girlfriend and come back home. I'm now happy after visiting mama Linda .

THE Proteas will battle it out against Sri Lanka in the ICC Cricket World Cup quarter-final match at the Sydney Cricket Grounds on Wednesday, 18 March. The winner of this encounter will progress to the semi-final of the tournament. Hashim Amla, opening batsman, says the experienced campaigners in the squad will need to step up today, as the squad looks to achieve what no South African team has done at the World Cup. “There is no doubt that when you get to the knockout stages you want to be the guy to score the big runs to put the team in a good position. Everybody in the team, especially the senior guys, wants to be the guy to make the big play for us; with the bat, ball and in the field,” he says. Amla adds that the squad is motivated to improve on the persistant failures of past World Cups, and will be embracing the challenge of the occasion. “It’s extremely important (to win the match). We are well aware that we haven’t won a knockout game and that serves as good motivation for the guys to make it a first for South African cricket,” says the batsman. The Proteas will have to curb Sri Lanka’s X-factor players Kumar Sangakkara and Lasith Malinga, opponents they have faced several times over the last two years. “They (Sri Lanka) are a wonderful team, they compete very well at world cups. They seem to be playing good cricket. Thankfully, we have played them in the recent past and both teams know each other well. A once-off game like this will be played with good intensity, it’s going to be a good game,” Amla says.
READY FOR BATTLE: Hashim Amla, South Africa’s opening batsman.

The Proteas have been training hard to prepare for the match and they are ready for Sri Lanka. “The guys are raring to go. We have been fortunate that we were at home for the build-up to this tournament. We came to New Zealand and Australia for a tour, went back home for a month and a half then came back here. “Most of the guys are fresh; some of the other teams have been away from home for a long time. Thankfully we are fresh and keen to make a good play on Wednesday,” says Amla

Mr and Mrs Thabo My last resort to bring back my lost lover. Me and my wife Bridget had given up after losing my job and struggling to keep up with my car and house payment. I had to change schools for my children from private schools to government schools because financially we were not stable anymore, but thanks to my in-law who gave me this woman of God's number, she helped me to turn my life around financially by giving me a magic ring which brought back hope into my life. It cost me only R800 and for the first time in my life I went into a casino with my wife and we used our magic to hit a jackpot. Now my house and car are paid off and my children are back in private schools - now life is so wonderful, so in case you are looking for the best healer, please look no more.

Harmony optimistic about cup THE registration process for the 2015 Kay Motsepe Schools Cup has closed and 2014 Free State champions and the most successful school in the tournament over the past five years, Harmony High School, is hard at work preparing for their opening cluster level matches. The Virginia-side is determined to represent the province at the national finals again this year. Pitso Mokoena, Harmony coach, has been with the school since 2008 and has guided them to two national titles – in 2008 and 2011. He sees the 2008 victory as his greatest achievement. He did not have a lot of time to prepare that year and injuries meant that they played in the national finals with just 12 players in the squad. “Winning the 2011 Kay Motsepe Schools Cup was easier. I think that the 2011 team was the best team I ever coached. They made my job very easy,” he said. This year Harmony will field a completely new team. Their entire u.17 team that won a key knockout tournament in 2014 and also participated in the SAB Regional League has been promoted and they will join seven of last year’s u.19 players. “The players are currently training together, but we will select the best players,” he said. In the cluster phase of the Kay Motsepe Schools Cup, the team will be playing against local schools, but Mokoena said they will not underestimate them. “Every year teams grow; they have new talented players and there’s no guarantee that Harmony will win every year. But we try to be optimistic.”

‘The Cheetahs can do it’ X Willie DESPITE the fact that the Toyota Cheetahs have lost their previous two matches against the Bulls and the Sharks in Bloemfontein, Willie le Roux has been one of the top performers for the Free State side. Shelly Storm spoke to the full-back about his Superrugby season so far. TEAMS are starting to kick a lot more. How much time and emphasis is placed on kicking during training? It is just the way the game has changed and therefore we focus a lot more on kicking during training. In your early rugby career you played flyhalf. Do you have any desire to play there for the Bokke? No, I’m happy at fullback and don’t want to play flyhalf. I enjoyed playing there when I was younger, but that is in the past now. Are you an avid supporter of any other sports teams? Tell us a bit about who you support and why. Yes, definitely! I love soccer – I support Chelsea in the English League and Barcelona in the Spanish League. I also like golf and support Tiger Woods. In the NFL I like Tom Brady and the Patriots. If it were a choice between an English club, Japanese club and French club, where would you prefer to play and why? I would choose to play for a Japanese club. I like the brand of rugby they play and I prefer the Japanese weather above the conditions in Europe. It would be amazing to experience the culture.

THE battle for the provincial championship of the Danone Nations Cup gets underway in Bloemfontein on Saturday, 21 March. Organised by the South African Schools Football Association (Sasfa), in association with Danone, the u.12 tournament will see six winners competing for the provincial title and a chance to compete in the national finals in June. Free State schools that will be competing are the Mofulatshepe Primary School, Inoseng Primary School (both from the Xhariep District), Toka Primary School (Motheo District), Matswakathaka Intermediate School (Thabo Mofutsanyane District), Thoriso Primary School (Lejweleputswa District) and Nelson Mandela Primary School (Fezile Dabi District). The school that will emerge as the champion will face winners from the other eight provinces at the national finals where the best school will win a trip to Morocco. “Taking part in a tournament of this size and having the opportunity to play in Morocco this year is the stuff of dreams for all these children,” Zinédine Zidane, Danone ambassador, says. Morocco will welcome 500 young finalists from 32 countries in October. These young players will compete to lift the Danone Nations Cup trophy and be crowned international champions of the greatest football competition for children aged 10 to 12. This competition is an incredible melting pot where dreams are within everyone’s reach. It brings together children from 32 countries, each speaking their own language. There is an incredible mindset and a solidarity chain that goes well beyond all differences,” Emmanuel Faber, CEO of Danone, says. The matches on Saturday will be played at the Clive Solomon Stadium in Heidedal from 10:00.

Swallows’ woes continue } Sidwell Guduka COACH-LESS Moroka Swallows will face log-leaders Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership match at the Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday (18/03). The kick-off is at 19:30. The Dube Birds have parted ways with head coach Fani Madida following a string of poor results. Since taking over from Zeca Marques last October, Madida has only managed to register one win over Free State Stars earlier this month. Swallows, the once most-feared PSL side, occupy the 15th spot on the log, and they continued to flirt with relegation when they were defeated 2-1 by Mpumalan-
ga Black Aces this past weekend. As things stand, only five points separate them from the bottom club, Amazulu. Swallows could get automatic relegation if they finish the season at the bottom of the log. The second worst team will get a chance to fight for their PSL place in play-offs. Caretaker coach Patrick Mabedi will be in charge of the relegation-haunted Swallows tonight as they try to avoid the dreaded axe. Elsewhere, Mamelodi Sundowns will be expected to send struggling Chippa United deep into the relegation zone when the sides meet at the Loftus Versveld Stadium tonight at 19:30.
me to go stand in my place. When I think of my first game, I will always remember that. Who do you think was or is the best fullback of all time? Without a doubt, Christian Cullen is the best. As a youngster, I always looked up to him. Which current rugby player do you respect the most and what have you learned from him? I respect the Springbok captain, Jean de Villiers. I admire the way he works with people. He is not only a great captain, but also a brilliant guy. Which Bok would you definitely not want to end up in the ring with? Definitely not with Coenie Oosthuizen or Lood de Jager. Can the Cheetahs be the South African Superrugby Conference winners in 2015? Is the belief there? Most definitely. We came near to it in 2013 and there is no reason why we can’t do it again. If you won R30 million in the lotto, what would be the first thing you do after the big party you’ll be throwing? I’d give some of it to my mother and I’ll invest the biggest part in property and business. I’ll leave some for enjoyment – go on a nice holiday. Having travelled around the world, where is your favourite holiday destination and why? There are too many to mention. I love Venice in Italy, France and London. Queenstown in New Zeeland is also an amazing place with the most beautiful natural surroundings – snowcapped mountains, skiing, cabins, etc. It is like an international tourist destination.
HE MADE MY BUSINESS TO GROW AND MY FINANCE TO BE CONTROLLED: I have my own business for 15 years doing well and making a lot of savings, but things began turning bad and started registering losses. My life began to fall apart, the banks were after my properties for the loans I had failed to pay. My wife and children left as I could no longer take care of them. I visited many healers, but with no positive results. I heard of MR JACOB who had helped so many people, I visited him to read my past and future - he charged me R150. I was shocked to find out that my nephew was doing the black magic on me. JACOB cleansed me and a month later I began to see progress in my business with lots of savings. Am now happy with my family which had left me because I couldn't support them anymore. THANKS TO MR JACOB who saved my life.

My husband is back after 15 years of divorce. Mama Asiha showed me my enemies in a mirror. But now we are together again and very happy. I almost lost hope when my husband asked for a divorce. Living without my husband for 15 years was not easy. I had to support myself financially and consulted top healers, who didn't help. I heard of mama Asiha on the radio and on television, my workmate he had helped with my financial problems. She told me everything that was happening in my life before I said anything to her. She took out all the witchcraft, showed me the 'mirror in a dish of water'. I saw my husband's girlfriend . She prayed for me with her special powers . My enemies confessed now and I'm also now promoted at work . I don't know how to thank mama Asiha, but to make it public. With her magic ring she can protect homes from bad evils.

Club eyeing promotion } Sidwell Guduka KOVSIE FC head coach Godfrey Tenoff is eyeing nothing but promotion to the ABC Motsepe League. Tenoff believes his players will continue their current form as the season reaches its climax. His side is currently on the summit of the SAB Regional League log after collecting 46 points in 18 matches. “We want to win promotion this season. We have the players who can win the league for us. I believe in the group of players that I have in the team,” Tenoff said. “We have a good mixture of experienced players and youngsters. They are desperate to get themselves promoted and if they apply themselves, that is possible. But we must be hungrier than the other teams. We must also

Things in my life went from good to worse in a very short time. My love live, financial problems jealousy, my husband’s family were all against me. Luckily I came across Marria through a friend. She helped me and showed me my enemies through a mirror for only R200. She did miracles in my life. She told me all my problems without mentioning anything to her. She showed me the people who worked hard to see me suffering some of which were my friends and relatives. She performed a special prayer, washed away my bad luck and cleansed my home. Gave me a love potion with a ring for my financial problems in less than five days, my husband was always by my side and my enemies confessed and asked for forgiveness. Come and visit me at Northridge Mall.

‘We have the players who can win the league for us.’ – Godfrey Tenoff be more ambitious than the other teams,” he said. The University of the Free State (UFS) side failed to stretch their lead at the top of the table when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Ace Lovers FC during the SAB League Football Festival at the Clive Solomon Stadium on Saturday (14/03). “We should have won the match but we let ourselves down by not converting our chances. “It would have been nice to open a sixpoint gap between us and the second-best team in the league,” he said. In another match on the same day, Kingston FC registered a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Lazio FC.
I now believe miracles can still happen.
