Children who spend time outside develop an inclination to experiment, make connections and solve problems. Laurel’s Outdoor Pre-Primary School provides a curriculum that ensures 3- to 5-year-old children are developing the skills necessary to be successful in Kindergarten while also gaining the resilience, motivation and creativity that comes from learning in nature. The children spend each morning from September through June in the forest of our 140-acre Butler Campus in Russell Township. Our state-of-the-art Yurt becomes a cozy refuge when outdoor conditions call for indoor activities. Master teachers, with specialized training in outdoor education for young children, guide the young explorers through their discoveries and explorations.
