“As the VP of Athletic Boosters this year, I’m happy to be able to designate our Laurel Fund gift to Athletics. We believe in Laurel so every year we do what we can. We also feel giving back teaches good values and morals.” -Brad and Leslie Richer, Parents of Kayla ’23
Laurel Fund FAQs Q: What role does philanthropy play at Laurel and why is annual giving necessary? A: Laurel enjoys a strong tradition of philanthropic generosity by a community invested in our success. The Laurel Fund is the top fundraising priority because it has an immediate and direct impact. Contributing 7% of the annual operating budget, the Laurel Fund provides approximately $2,000 per student, filling the gap that tuition and endowment resources do not cover. Q: Why does my participation matter? A: Your yearly gift demonstrates your belief in Laurel. Participation is a metric of strength used locally and nationally that signifies confidence in the school and is often evaluated by foundations and major donors considering transformational gifts. Q: If I can only make a small gift, is it really worth it? A: YES! Gifts to the Laurel Fund range from $1 to more than $30,000 and every gift matters. Last year, gifts of $100 or less totaled nearly $54,000! Given the importance of Laurel in your life, we hope you will make Laurel a philanthropic priority and give in a range that is meaningful to you and your family at this time. Q: Can I designate my gift to a specific area of interest? A: While unrestricted gifts provide the most flexibility to meet immediate needs of students, designations can be made to areas of interest (ex. athletics, arts, faculty compensation, LCRG, scholarships). Q: Does it matter when I make my gift? A: Yes. Our fiscal year runs July 1 – June 30. Making your gift or pledge early in the school year affords us a great advantage in planning. All gifts and pledges must be fulfilled by June 30, 2020.
Please note In preparation for our 125th birthday celebration on October 17, 2020, we will not have a Gator Bash this school year. We are grateful to those who have kindly and generously supported Laurel through our annual gala, and we hope you will take this into consideration when deciding on your Laurel Fund gift for the year.
