Many years ago, the only option when someone lost a tooth (or teeth) was to create a bridge or to wear dentures, which were temporary solutions. Today’s technology allows patients to have a permanent solution that gives patients full use of their teeth thanks to dental implants that are strong, capable and beautiful. Founded in 1983 by Michael A. Pikos, DDS, a leading expert and global educator in the field, Coastal Jaw Surgery is where patients go who want the very best oral surgical care in the country. In fact, if you’d like to know where your dentist goes to have oral surgical work done, most

likely you’ll find it to be Coastal Jaw Surgery as they are known to be “the doctor’s doctors” since so many dentists and physicians have been treated there. Coastal Jaw Surgery has three convenient locations nearby including Trinity, Palm Harbor and Spring Hill, which makes local residents very fortunate since in many ways Coastal Jaw Surgery is the epicenter of the profession. This is due to the God-given talents of Dr. Pikos, a humble and approachable professional who has found himself at the top of his field. “My passion,” says Dr. Pikos, “is to work hard, treat everyone with honesty and integrity, and provide our

By Diane Galemmo Pasco Challenge Recruits 400 Runners of All Ages The Alzheimer’s Family Organization (AFO) held its 2012 Pasco Challenge on March 10, 2012, at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park in Trinity. The Pasco Challenge, in its 13th year, is one of the AFO’s premiere fundraising events which, this year, raised approximately $20,000 to benefit the organization. The event was co-sponsored by Wells Fargo, Bright House Networks and the Suncoast News. Participants ran, cycled and walked for “those that can’t remember.” The competitive events included a 5K & 10K Foot Race and a Half Marathon. Non-competitive events included a one-mile walk/fun run and a 25K, 50K and 100K biking event. Nearly 400 people entered the competitive events: 250 people entered the 5K race, 53 people entered the 10K race and 84 entered the half marathon. Custom T-Shirts/Goody Bags (while supplies lasted) and an IHOP breakfast was provided for all the entrants.

Awards were given for the top three finishers of the running events (5K, 10K, Half-Marathon) in 15 age-group categories beginning at 10 and under and ending at 75+. All half marathoners received Finisher Medals. AFO’s mission is to provide educational programs (including Respite Care Assistance, Wanderer’s I.D. Program, Support Groups, Caregiver/Professional Educational Seminars), support services and assistance to caregivers, families and individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia. Monies raised will benefit individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and their families in Pasco County and Central Florida. The overall male/female winners in the 5K were Chris Pirrello, 18, from New Port Richey and Tracey Cooper, 38, also from New Port Richey. The overall male/female winners in the 10K were Stewart Skipper, 31, from Tampa and Jennifer Palermo, 41, from New Port Richey; and the overall male/female winners in the half marathon were Oliver Von Tempski, 40, from Palm Harbor and Lori Ka-

This is Jarod’s second time in the Pasco Challenge and he is thrilled to have won. His father, Jeffrey, a former certified nursing assistant (CNA), has continued his work as a CNA for the last five years with a lot of Alzheimers’s patients. “I’ve seen how difficult the disease is for those people to deal with,” he says. “The main reasons to be out here (in Starkey Park) is that it’s for a good cause and it’s something I want to support.” Of special note, 84-year-old Robert Williams, of Port Richey, not only ran in the 5K race but finished in the top one third (98th), out of 205 runners, with a time of 32 min.15 sec., 14

Dominick De Petrillo, the executive director of Alzheimer’s Family Organization says, “It went over great. A good time was had by all. Without events like the Pasco Challenge we just couldn’t help all the people suffering from Alzheimers and other types of dementia.” The Alzheimer’s Family Organization covers seven counties and is home based in New Port Richey at 6616 Rowan Rd., New Port Richey, Fl. 34653. Its mission is to provide educational programs, offer support services and assistance to caregivers, families and individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia. The 2011 event was a great success, raising $150,000 for the American Cancer Society to use for patient services, research, education and advocacy. This annual event has consistently been the most successful Relay For Life event in Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando and Citrus counties. In 2010 Trinity’s was named the #25 event out of 356 Relay For Life events in the state of Florida. In 2011, it moved up to 23rd place. Relay For Life Trinity is aiming for the #10 spot in 2012 and will need committee members, teams and sponsors. Their theme will be “The Cure...Music to Our Ears.” Anyone interested in being a part of making history in the fight against cancer is invited to attend and should contact Lizzie Mead at the American Cancer Society, (813) 949-0291 X5609. Celebrate Earth Day by Donating Cell Phones to Soldiers Cell Phones for Soldiers collected 1,524,733 phones in 2011 allowing 91,483,980 minutes of free talk time to soldiers across the world. Cell Phones for Soldiers was launched out of Norwell, MA in 2004

Trinity Area Neighborhood News

by two teenagers, Brittany and Robbie Bergquist. After watching a news story about a young soldier serving in the Middle East who had racked up a cell phone bill of more than $7,000, they emptied their piggy banks, $21, and announced that they would help this soldier with his phone bill. Today, they, along with their parents, Bob and Gail, and sister Courtney, are running a million-dollar non-profit organization with 10,000 volunteers. From those humble beginnings, the Cell Phones for Soldiers organization was launched. The organization has a nationwide network of some 10,000 volunteers running collection drives, from Boy Scout Troops to Fortune 500 companies. The organization recycles outdated and unused cell phones, and then uses the funds to buy calling cards for troops so they can phone home to their loved ones. The organization is fortunate to have so many fantastic volunteers across the nation leading cell phone drives and spreading the organization’s mission. One of those volunteers, Alvin Chanon, 83, served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, from 1951-1953, during the Cold War. He now enjoys volunteering and helping organizations that

support veterans; and has been personally responsible for donating more than 155,000 minutes of free talk to our service men and women. Since 2,009 Cell Phones for Soldiers has received quiet, behind-thescenes support from Capital One Bank. The efforts of Capital One Bank associates have generated more than 357,000 minutes and preserved more than 5,950 phones that would have ended up in landfills. Leading the efforts to date are branches located in Louisiana and Texas. In only one month, the two states collected 1,226 phones. By this effort alone, 73,000 minutes of free talk time was provided to troops overseas. To help the environment on Earth Day, April 22, you might consider collecting unused mobile phones to recycle for Cell Phones for Soldiers. Not only will you help the environment, but you will also help troops call home. Kids Helping Kids – Volunteer Way’s Kids Against Hunger A bunch of children held a yard sale. They earned $110 and they generously donated it all to the Volunteer Way’s Kids Against Hunger Program. Since its inception, Kids Against

Hunger has been having volunteer food and monetary drives throughout Pasco County. These drives bring hundreds of people of all ages together in community-building volunteer work. Kids Against Hunger consists of all volunteers. Volunteers include adults, children, corporate supporters, schools, and civic and religious groups. All monetary donations are used to purchase food for the hungry of our community. Lester Cypher, CEO of the Volunteer Way says, “We are committed to helping all of the homeless and lowincome people of our community. We refuse to allow our children and the elderly to go to bed hungry. Today, we distribute over 6.5 million pounds of food every year to food pantries, soup kitchens, residential programs, seniors, homeless people, families and other charitable organizations. Would you consider giving your talents at least once a week?” he asks. Volunteer Way is located at 7820 Congress St., New Port Richey. Volunteers are needed at the warehouse, office, hydroponic garden and thrift store. Hours are Mon. – Fri., 7 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Call (727) 815-0433 or email martha@thevolunteerway.org.

AmPm provides true ‘cage-less’ boarding, where your dog roams free in an at-home environment, either at your home or at AmPm. The company specializes in providing personable, loving care to pets in their own homes, where they are already happy and relaxed. She has completed her training and will soon receive her certification as a veterinary nurse, and is certified in canine warm water massage. Seeing first-hand the benefits of canine warm water therapy when working with their chocolate Labrador Snickers, the couple felt inspired to open this top-notch pet service company. AmPm Professional Pet Service is certified with Pet Sitters International, and is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. AmPm trainers are active volunteers in the animal community as family dog trainers at the SPCA Tampa Bay. More Than Pet Sitting AmPm Professional Pet Service really goes above-and-beyond in the services provided, truly celebrating pets. Really – they even throw fabulous pet parties such as birthday celebrations and themed parties. AmPm even has a pet taxi service. Ample attention is given to all animals in AmPm’s care. AmPm home visits include walking (for dogs), play and socialization, and of course, plenty of love and attention. Fresh water and food are given and medication is administered if needed. AmPm also provides litter box scooping and backyard scooping, when needed. As a courtesy to clients, AmPm collects the mail and does a quick security check of the premises while they are pet-sitting. AmPm Professional Pet Service has a lot of success with its training program in helping dogs to be well-behaved and obedient at home. Training dogs on their own home-territory is very effective in helping them to relax at home and to come when they’re supposed to. AmPm encourages using positive methods when training. very unique dog day care program, is offered Monday – Friday. At AmPm K9 Swim Camp DC, your dog will enjoy walks, supervised play and one-on-one water work, which is excellent for calming dogs who suffer from social anxiety, as well as being therapeutic for many other behaviors and ailments. Space is limited in this program so registration is required three days prior to participation date and a 24-hour notice of cancellation is required. The AmPm Aqua Dog program combines canine swimming lessons and pool safety. The focus is to teach dogs not be afraid of the water and how to get out of the pool on their own in case they were to fall in. The program consists of six sessions, 30-45 minutes in duration, with the pet parent participating in at least one session. The sessions include massage and exercise, and if the pet has a home pool, one session must be held there to ensure that the dog knows how to safely exit their home pool. Canine warm water massage therapy is an excellent treatment for anxiety and is very beneficial for painful conditions such as arthritis, hip and elbow dysplasia, degenerative diseases and more. AmPm works closely with clients’ veterinarians to make sure their dog is on the correct plan for his/her needs. Swimming is a great form of exercise for dogs of all ages, and the physical release of tension and stress can also have a positive effect on behaviors re-

What AmPm’s Clients Say George N, a CEO from South Tampa, uses AmPm for both pet sitting and obedience training. “Due to my responsibilities I travel a lot on short notice and AmPm Pro Pet Service is only a text away,” says George. “I appreciate how they care for my family of five dogs and two cats. After a year of caring for my family I decided to implement walking and training with them. After only three sessions with them everything changed in the house. I could talk on the phone without barking and the dogs were calmed down; they even helped me with my cats. It is such a relief knowing that my family has them [AmPm] to take care of them when I can’t.” Odessa residents Beth and Gregg, a surgeon at Tampa General Hospital, initially started using AmPm Professional Pet Service for dog walking but came to rely on the warm water massage treatments for one of their dogs. Bishop Larkin Catholic School Provides Educational Excellence By Julie Kanehl Imagine sending your children to a school where the focus wasn’t what they were wearing, the class sizes didn’t need amending, and instilling solid Christian values was part of the curriculum. What if a decision that you made now could improve your children’s education and future endeavors for the rest of their lives? What if you could ensure that discipline issues wouldn’t take away precious educational minutes in the classroom? What if you could know that your children were receiving an education that would help them to be better people, and not just better students? What if this school was both affordable and conveniently located right here in New Port Richey? The Bishop Larkin Catholic School (BLCS) is all of these things and more. Private schools are becoming more and more popular around the country, and with good reason. Bishop Larkin Catholic School is located just off of Little Rd. in New Port Richey, and the teachers and staff have the ability and the resources to truly teach

14

our children everything that they need to know in order to be successful. Lead with a purposeful faith in Jesus Christ, this Catholic school offers small class sizes, a very detailed curriculum that includes a foreign language for all grade-levels (Spanish), state-of-the art technology, opportunities to excel in extracurricular activities such as a music and choir program, athletics, and lessons in faith. The entire school houses less than 300 students in total, and teaches children from the age of three (including free VPK) through 8th grade. This is in stark contrast to local schools which have nearly 200 students per grade. Each classroom teacher is certified by the State of Florida, and is given the time, the tools and the resources to truly work with each child and help to raise them to their greatest potential. While they joyously welcome children of all faiths (and they have many students who are not Catholic), BLCS is a Catholic school that is committed to instilling the values and the traditions of the Catholic faith. In fact, there is a manifesto on the window in the front of the school office that

reads: “Be it known to all who enter here that Christ is the reason for this school. He is the unseen but ever-present teacher in its classes. He is the model of its faculty and the inspiration of its students.” If you are like me, I find this manifesto to be thrilling. My own children are growing up too quickly in this fast-paced, media-heavy environment, and I found this school to be a welcome reprieve from the drama that the public schools seem to foster. One parent said, “The academic environment at BLCS speaks for itself in the curriculum and past graduates. I feel it is knowing that our children

are in such a wonderful environment daily for seven hours, while away from home that made me realize all the other advantages of BLCS. In today’s times it is hard to find a great school that truly feels like an extended large family and everyone is cared for and trusted in that manner every day of the school year. It is well worth the sacrifices we make to allow our children to attend BLCS." If you are a parent that is looking for a school where your child or children will be given all of the tools that they need in an environment that is both loving and disciplined, and where education and faith work harmo-

loved it, it wasn’t often that I got to see a teenager warmly hug their principal. BLCS is ministered by the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus and a faithfilled staff whose goal is to combine an excellent education with the teachings and traditions of the Catholic faith. Principal Ozuzu or Sister Regina, as she’s known, is more than just the principal of this school; she is a force of love. She fiercely loves these students and wants them to succeed, and her broad, beautiful smile is mirrored in the students when they see her. Principal at BLCS for over 13 years, she has fostered a school that is truly what it should be; a safe haven for children to grow and learn together in a close-knit environment where faith and education go hand-in-hand to prepare the students not just for college, but for life. On the BLCS website, which is full of great information on the school, Sr. Regina says, “As a Catholic school, we teach each child the meaning of honor, discipline, courage, integrity, and dignity for self and others. Students are offered opportunities to expand their insight into how the world works and how their God given talents

In the Classroom Bishop Larkin Catholic School is accredited by The Florida Catholic Conference (FCC) whose accrediting practices are approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).The school is also a member of the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA). “We believe in holding kids accountable. We teach responsibility, provide differentiated instruction in small groups, and we work within the common core standards provided by the Diocese [of St. Petersburg].” says Assistant Principal Peters. She adds, “Our students combine these common core standards with critical thinking.” The curriculum at Bishop Larkin Catholic School is different than the curriculum that you’ll find in our public schools in that it is not geared toward the FCAT test; in fact, they don’t even take the FCAT test. Instead, students take the Iowa Test of Basic Skill standardized test to assess progress, but Sr. Regina says that teachers don’t teach “to the test” and instead use the tools that they have in their mental

toolbox in order to succeed. Parents are often impressed by the core standards that are taught at BLCS, and are usually pleased to find that while each classroom is equipped with modern technology like Smart Boards (which are interactive white boards that make blackboards (chalkboards) and overhead projectors seem like wrinkly old dinosaurs); students are still taught traditional skills such as penmanship and speech. Assistant Principal Peters says, “Our curriculum is very strong and many of our students, 90 percent, go to Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School (in Spring Hill). Our students are so well prepared that 52 of our students have made the Principal’s List with Distinction. For our students who go to public high schools, they usually go directly into advanced classes.” There are many benefits to attending a private school, and thankfully tuition is affordable. In fact, there are even ways to earn scholarships for your children to attend the Bishop Larkin Catholic School. Sr. Regina says, “For me it’s not just a profession. It’s a mission. We want to prepare these kids so that they are prepared wherever they go so that they can be living their faith and going out into the world prepared to serve others.” If you are like many parents who are yearning for something better for their children, look no further than Bishop Larkin Catholic School. The Bishop Larkin Catholic School is located at 8408 Monarch Drive in New Port Richey. For more information or to schedule a tour, please call (727) 862-6981 or visit online at www.bishoplarkin.org.

Katelyn’s Kloset Hosts Grand Opening by Diane Galemmo You may recall our publication’s story of the tragic death of 2-year-old Katelyn TestoMichaud in a drowning accident at her Trinity home in 2004. Since then her mom, Sandra, has become a spokesperson, a teacher, and a fundraiser dedicated to educating the public about water safety. In 2006, Sandra started the non-profit Katelyn Foundation that works with the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center and the local James P. Gills YMCA which, in addition to teaching children about water safety and drowning prevention, also provides free and reduced-rate swimming lessons for children in Pasco County. And now she has opened Katelyn’s Kloset. “For years I have dreamed of opening up a consignment shop and calling it Katelyn’s Kloset in honor of my daughter, Katelyn,” says Sandra. “I had a vision that it would be the most unique consignment shop out there with a warm feeling of shopping right out of a closet.” Katelyn’s Kloset opened its doors on Sat., Mar. 3, but had its official grand opening festivities on Sat., Mar. 31. Sandra’s dad was busy at the cash register and Sandra and her mom were helping customers when I entered the shop. Katelyn’s Kloset is a charming shop that carries gently-used infant to juniors’ clothing, maternity clothing,

Mitchell High School Sports Milestone

By Diane Galemmo Twins Rank First and Second in Long-Distance Running—The Cancello twins, Claudia and Elaina, both Mitchell High Mustangs distance runners, placed first and second respectively in the 1600 meter run at the recent Anclote invitational. Claudia also placed first at three invitational meets in the 1600. Elaina finished first at two previous invitational meets in the 3200. They also finished second and third in the 3200 meter run. Mitchell HIgh Ice Hockey Team Brings Home State Championship— Mitchell High Mustangs Ice Hockey team brought home the state championship on Mar. 4 with a victory over Boca Raton’s Spanish River High School. Counting the playoffs, the team dominated the season with a record of 21-2-2. And imagine that just one year ago, Mitchell High School didn’t even have an ice hockey team. Today, they are state champions. The squad consists of a group of mostly freshman and sophomores.

The Mustangs head coach Brian Lugo was faced with the challenge of bringing together a young team for a season of hockey like they’d never before experienced. For captain and senior center Kevin Porath, what started as a season of limited hopes turned into a dream season he will never forget. “I didn’t have high expectations coming into the season with it being a whole new team, but after that first victory I think we knew that we had a chance to do something,” says Kevin. “We didn’t

Besides long-distance running, both girls also participate in track and field and swimming. They are both dedicated athletes; Elaina runs four miles before school each morning. Mitchell coach Jeff Leavy says, “They both want to qualify for the state meet and I feel both are on track to achieve their goals.” “I’m just focused on improving my run from last season,” says Elaina. “It’s fun to compete with my sister because our times are so close. We both want to just work on getting better with every meet and, hopefully, that will lead us to the state meet at the end of the season.”

It’s the best season of hockey I’ve ever played and the best team I’ve been a part of.” Kevin, who is a resident of Foxwood at Trinity, will be attending the U.S Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs in June. With Kevin captaining the team in the middle, and 6-foot-5-inch junior defenseman Alex Widera, who is a head taller than everyone else on the team, anchoring the defense, the Mustangs were tough to get past. Crucial also to the wins were team members Evan Lugo who had a lot of assists (passes that led to goals), and Reed Nichols who had a lot of goals. “We have such a wide range of players when it comes to experience, from kids who have been playing their whole lives to a guy who had never been on ice skates prior to this season,” says Coach Lugo. “I think what I’m most proud of is the job that we’ve done taking these boys who were so individual and got them to gel and become a family.” It is significant to note that the

team prayed together before and after every game, as well as in the playoffs. It’s amazing what talent tempered with prayer can do. Mitchell High Boys Golf Team Undefeated in Conference Play—The Mitchell High School Boy’s Golf team, competing against 12 high schools won all 12 of their golf matches this season and added more 18-hole tournaments to their schedule to prepare for conference and district play. The results paid off when the boys’ golf team completed its regular season undefeated in conference play. The team posted 12 wins and broke several records in the process. The team season scoring average for 9 holes was 154 and 6 players averaged in the 30s. The team also broke the old single match scoring record set by the 2002 District Champs by posting a 5 over par (as a team) score of 149 to defeat Fivay High and Ridgewood High. Captain Rick Hyatt says, “I’m very pleased with how the guys played; it’s a nice luxury knowing that I could have played any 6 of the 11 players on the team. Everyone on the team is very competitive.”

Local View Saint Leo University is recognized as having one of America’s most scenic campuses. Not only is the University Campus beautifully landscaped, it is also beautifully built; currently undergoing new renovations that are architecturally sound and aesthetically pleasing. During my on-campus tour I was able to visit Saint Francis Hall, the neighboring Abbey Church, the gorgeous Student Community Center and the brand new school of business building. Walking along the pathways at Saint Leo, I tried to resonate with how students must feel who are attending the gorgeous University. The large pathways, lined with blooming springtime flowers led to each building (some of which have been around since the 1800s). The Abbey Church at Saint Leo University is an ornate, decorated place for prayer, celebrations and quiet contemplation. The Abbey Church is one of the oldest buildings at Saint Leo and is actually owned, maintained, and operated by the Benedictine monks who live on the parcel adjacent to the University Campus. A short distance from the Abbey Church is the Student Community Center complex and the brand new business building. The school of business building is a center for student-faculty interaction and has the most up-to-date educational features available, including SMART displays along the walls of six technologically enhanced classrooms for full interactive purposes. The technology makes this 48,000-square-foot facility one of the most advanced classroom buildings in the nation. The building, home to the Donald R. Tapia School of Business, was completed last August, with a major gift provided by an alumnus who received his bachelor’s degree from Saint Leo’s Center for Online Learning. Donald

The first of the two new residence halls is projected to be finished in August and will offer 160 beds for students, two-bedroom suites, state-of-the-art equipment and a common area that allows students to meet, mingle and create lasting friendships. The second residence hall will be finished around the same time and will meet the same standards as the first. A new parking garage is up and coming at Saint Leo and will be located underground, beneath the soccer field! The underground parking garage will be able to hold 750 vehicles. The need for this was created by Saint Leo’s ongoing growth and recognition. Associate Vice President of Marketing, Ed Austin, says, “Saint Leo is a nationally recognized university located in Tampa Bay, offering academic excellence for college students of any age and at any stage of their career track. Saint Leo changes lives.” Another great project Saint Leo University celebrated in 2011 was the opening of its Tampa Education Center in Channelside at 1120 E. Kennedy Blvd. This center offers traditional education, state-of-the-art classrooms, and programs during evenings. On the same floor, another 90 full-

time employees work in a support operation for the Center for Online Learning, where they help online students with questions about enrollment, financial aid, veterans benefits and related matters. Saint Leo University’s distance learning program has been around since 1997. The distance learning is a wonderful asset that Saint Leo University provides to military personnel and others because it allows interested students to take courses at a time and place that is most convenient to their schedules. Everyone has their idea of how college should be; sunny days in the courtyard, convenient classes, top-ofthe-line professors and a mind-broadening experience, all in a relaxed atmosphere. Saint Leo University encompasses all that a University should be and more. You will learn a great deal at Saint Leo University from your professors and classmates; most important, you will learn from yourself. The campus is worth checking out and makes for a great day trip. If you’re interested in learning more, there is always a friendly faculty member or student willing to help guide you. The University Campus slogan is: You’ll Love the Person You Become Here.

The National Rejuvenation Center in Palm Harbor Can Change Your Life By Julie Kanehl If you are over the age of 35, chances are that like many of your peers, you’ve hit the proverbial wall from time to time. Maybe things don’t excite you like they used to, or maybe you feel that no matter how hard you work out, you can’t get where you want to be. If you are concerned about these things, and want to improve your muscle, decrease your body fat, improve your sex drive and improve your overall health, the doctors at National Rejuvenation Centers (NRC) in Palm Harbor believe they can help you. Rejuvenation Medicine, as it’s called at NRC, is the most up-to-date technique to balance hormones of someone older than 35, and the results can make them feel like they are 20 again. Hormone replacement therapy has come a long way in the last decade, and a lot of education and research have lead this team of doctors to create a practice where they can help their patients feel better about themselves and the world around them by using BioIdentical Hormone Therapy. Combined with individualized and personalized nutrition and exercise protocols, their patients claim to have their lives back,

and exhibit an excitement and zeal for life that they had not felt in many, many years. Patients at NRC, which is located just off of US Hwy. 19, are very excited about their experience there, and one of their female patients said, “This is one of the best things I have ever done for myself!” Founder and CEO, Bartley H. Kerr, D.C., received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida and then earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1988. As a chiropractor, he really wanted to help people live their best lives, and when his own father began to grow older and lose his love for life, Dr. Kerr looked into hormone replacement therapy. His father, who is almost 80, was not interested in anything and wouldn’t leave the house. His mother was worried that he was going to die. Dr. Kerr acted quickly to save his father from a sad fate, and five or six weeks into the treatment, he came by to visit his father and found him throwing a football with one of the boys in the neighborhood! This was something he hadn’t done in years. From that point on, Dr. Kerr was sold. He wanted to help others reclaim

Dr. Kerr says, “At National Rejuvenation Centers, we focus on getting our patients’ hormone levels back to where they were when they were the healthiest – when they were in their 20s.” Dr. Kerr has partnered with Dr. Justin M. Come and join the Angel Family! See what some of our loyal customers have to say! $75 OFF Deep Spring Cleaning Special ongratulations on 20 years in the business to Donna and her teams. Donna and The Cleaning Angels initially came to my home in 2010 to offer an evaluation of my cleaning needs. It took only one visit to recognize that their service was considerably different than my previous ones. Their reliability, honesty and dedication to excellent service has proven itself again and again. -Michelle Marquis, Clearwater, Florida

C

We have used The Cleaning Angel Cleaning Service for the past two and a half years. Every two weeks we are more than satisfied with the service especially with Ileah who has been the head of the cleaning team that services our home. Their work is a very thorough professional cleaning. They are always prompt, courteous, trustworthy and willing to adapt to our schedule. Along with the regular cleaning each time, they include the baseboards, light fixtures and ceiling fans, blinds and much much more. Our home is always sparkling every time. -Sue and John Kelly Wyntree, New Port Richey, FL I hired the Cleaning Angels over a year ago to help keep my house clean, so I would have time to pick up more shifts at work, to help make ends meet. On my initial interview with Donna Ferrante, she came to my home and we walked through the house together. She gave details of her business and work ethic and expectations for customer satisfaction. Donna and her staff are extremely personable and very professional. I feel like everyone cares if I am satisfied or not. The Cleaning Angels staff has gone above and beyond to work with my husband and my difficult work schedules. I highly recommend the Cleaning Angels to assist in housing maintenance. They do a great job, they are reasonably priced, and with the time I save from having to clean the house myself, I am able to pick up extra shifts at work and do other errands and chores. Love, Love, Love!!!! -Jennifer Mugianis, Tarpon Springs, FL We have used The Cleaning Angel for just over a year and I wonder how we ever got by without them! Our first meeting was with the company's owner, Donna; she made us feel very confident and comfortable about the service her company would be providing. Donna assured us that what was promised would be delivered because it was her name on the line. As business owners ourselves the message was loud and clear and we decided to give them a try. The Cleaning Angel has provided the phenomenal service that Donna promised and more. Our regular team, Ivonne and Anna are dependable, honest, pleasant, hardworking and efficient. They come in and get the job done. Thank you "Cleaning Angels" for making the task of maintaining my home easier on me! -Esther and Michael Halman, Crescent Oaks, Tarpon Springs, FL

Before I started with the Cleaning Angels, I had tried numerous cleaning services. I was never happy with the results until I met Donna six years ago. She actually was still cleaning herself at that time. Congratulations for expanding your business and making it to 20 years. The service is always excellent - they are prompt, efficient, professional, and their appearance is always great. They always have the correct products and equipment and their attention to detail goes above and beyond. My current lead is Ileah and she has been cleaning my house for several years and I just love her. I am very active in the Trinity community and have recommended the Cleaning Angels to many people. -Sandy Alekson, Champions Club, Trinity, FL

Nine years ago, I was looking for a cleaning lady and found Donna. At that time she went by Donna’s Cleaning Service. She cleaned my home herself for about two years. When she broke her foot and had to hire girls to help out, I initially was concerned. However that concern was short lived as Donna trains her girls to clean exactly like she does. Since then these girls come into my home and do their magic. I have many disabilities and they go way beyond to make sure that my house is clean and that I am happy. They do special things for me to make my life easier. I want to thank Sandy who use to clean my home and now is in the office with Donna. Congratulations for all your accomplishments Donna! -Fran Mischler, Port Richey, FL I have had the great pleasure of hiring and being in the company of the Cleaning Angels Cleaning Service. They are incredibly accommodating and have superior customer service. I have rarely come across a service organization that is so professional and extremely pleasant to work with. Every time "the Angels " come to my house, it gets better and better. Budget cuts have hit the majority of Americans, but I will give up other things before I would ever consider giving up "my Angels". -Tina Redmond, Keystone Bluffs, Tarpon Springs, FL The Cleaning Angel has been a consistent and dependable cleaning service, working around our family, house guests and home construction. They have been responsive to our special requests and once they know what we like, they provide great value added customer service. I would recommend them to others. -Susan Rolston, East Lake Woodlands, Oldsmar, FL I was looking for a cleaning service and was referred to The Cleaning Angels. I didn’t think they would come this far but called them anyway and they were more than happy to put me in their schedule. I live a 440 West and the girls are cleaning up this town. There have been a lot of unhappy people in the Clearwater Beach area and now word is out. We finally found the best. Congratulations Donna and so happy to have found you. -Katherine Sullivan, Clearwater Beach, FL As far as I am concerned there is only one cleaning service in the Tampa Bay area and that is the Cleaning Angels. They came into my home the first time and did a deep spring clean and was I ever blown away. I have never seen a cleaning service do the detail work these girls did. Donna sent four girls and they stayed for seven hours and my home is about 2700 sf. They hand washed all my baseboards, did the blinds in a three step process, washed every door and door frame in the whole house, moved every little knick knack and got into every little corner possible. Two weeks before I used a different service that promised a spring clean. They sent two girls that stayed in my home for 2-½ hours. After throwing my money away I was referred to Donna by someone in Land o Lakes. I’ve told many people if you are looking for your home to be cleaned correctly, don’t waste your time on other maid services. Call the Cleaning Angels if you want it done right and you will never have to find anyone else. Congratulations on your 20 years and hope you have many, many more. -Betty Bennett, Odessa, FL

“Coastal Jaw”

Before

After

Continued from page 1 combined experience of more than 100 years, doctors Michael A. Pikos, G. Thomas Peak, Jose F. Lazaro, David M. Owsley, and Michael S. Willis, the specialists at Coastal Jaw Surgery, can change your appearance and change your life. Dr. Michael Pikos – A Leader in His Field Dr. Pikos is first and foremost a doctor who wants to make a difference in peoples’ lives, and this practice is where his dedication to his specialty and commitment to education have come together to improve the lives of many, many people. Dr. Pikos came from a very supportive family in Campbell, Ohio who was very proud of their Greek heritage. He was raised to work hard and from an early age was a perfectionist. He attended The Ohio State University where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He then continued his education at The Ohio State University School of Dentistry where he also graduated with honors. He also completed an internship at

Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio and residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Montefiore Hospital. Dr. Pikos says, “At the time, the pioneers in this emerging field were using a very crude, blade-like implant set into the jawbone. These did not function very well, and many dentists dismissed the idea of dental implants as being too unstable and costly to be a viable solution to replacing missing teeth.” In the early 1980s, while many doctors wrote off the idea of using dental implants, there were dentists around the world who were acting as pioneers and scientists – eager to find a better solution that would literally start at the root of the problem and work up from there. Doctors began to create implants that had roots made of titanium and titanium alloys. Dr. Pikos was an eager student at the top of a new field, and he embraced this new technology. After completing his Oral Max-

illofacial residency in 1983, Dr. Pikos was ready to begin private practice. He then ventured to Tarpon Springs, FL where his father was born and thus Coastal Jaw Surgery became a reality. He began performing dental implant surgical procedures for patients who needed this expertise. “When a tooth is missing or removed for any reason, we are confronted with the challenge of deciding how best to replace that tooth,” says Dr. Pikos. “A dental implant is a small screw that is placed into the jawbone that supports the replacement tooth, and does it in such a way that almost all of the strength of the original tooth is restored. That is something we cannot accomplish with bridges or dentures.” After a short amount of time other doctors in the field began to come to Dr. Pikos to learn more about his approach and his techniques. Being very busy with his private practice Dr. Pikos placed more than 1,000 implants during the first 6 years of his

practice, at a success rate of 95%, which put him at the very top of his field for doctors in the country placing dental implants at the time. As a result, doctors from all over the country asked him to share what he knew. “I liked the idea of providing ongoing education not only for our staff, partners, and referring dentists in the community but also for clinicians from throughout the world.” said Dr. Pikos. With education in mind, Dr. Pikos created the Pikos Implant Institute in 1990 where he continues to teach advanced soft tissue and hard tissue grafting techniques for implant reconstruction along with advanced CT scan courses. He has taught more than 2500 clinicians from all 50 states and 32 countries, he has also lectured extensively throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. In addition, Dr. Pikos founded The Pinnacle Study Club of Tampa Bay in 1989. The Pinnacle Study Club was designed to foster collaboration between colleagues in the dental community and encourages an improvement of clinical skills, treatment planning, and better practice management. “The Pinnacle Study Club was
