Trinity’s Zim Zari California Coastal Grill has been winning the hearts of local residents for the last four years and counting. I have been there many times and the owners and staff have always been welcoming, cheerful, and caring. Even with their stellar reviews, packed dining room, and word-of-mouth reputation as the local watering hole, the dedicated management is still constantly looking for routes to further improvement. “We are always trying to exceed our guests’ expectations, be it with new specials, great craft beers, or training staff to go the extra mile,” manager

Chris Schultz reports. Located on the southeast corner of Little Road and State Road 54, Zim Zari is an oasis among the contemporaries in its plaza. The storefront has all of the professional appeal of an established chain but still retains the intriguing charm of an unknown, mom-and-pop eatery. Upon entering the doors, one finds a relaxed, laidback style inspired by the vibe of 60s surf-films and music, reflected in the décor and components of the building itself. While asserting its status as a first-rate restaurant, the atmosphere allows customers to feel like they could

Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

From The Editor Kim Thomas

Neighborhood News & Lifestyles Expands to Carrollwood! We write about a lot of family owned and operated businesses and it is always exciting when one of our local businesses expands. This month we are very excited to announce that Neighborhood News & Lifestyles is expanding into Carrollwood! Since the first Neighborhood News hit mailboxes in New Tampa back in 1993, the publication has continued to grow. In 2008, our publisher Tim Selby sold the New Tampa and Wesley Chapel publications to his 50/50 business partner, and focused on the Trinity and East Lake area publications. The Selby family now has five Neighborhood News & Lifestyles newsmagazines, reaching over 80,000 mailboxes in Trinity, East Lake, Odessa/ Lutz / Land O’ Lakes, Westchase and now the Carrollwood area! For the past 20 years, Neighborhood News & Lifestyles has been keeping the community informed and helping local businesses grow and expand with our “hyper-local” publication, by offering unprecedented color and glossy ads and providing in-depth,

Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

personable articles about the fabulous businesses that serve you and the neighborhood events that keep your community strong and connected. Like the other Neighborhood News & Lifestyles newsmagazines, the new Carrollwood Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles is delivered in mailboxes each month, and will reach approximately 13,000 homes and businesses in the Carrollwood area. The first issue hit mailboxes on April 5. Like many family owned and operated businesses, Neighborhood News & Lifestyles is built on a family’s good name and reputation and strives for excellence in every aspect – from exceptional print quality and interesting community news to superior customer support for advertisers – the Selby family and their staff go above-and-beyond to maintain a quality publication that people look forward to receiving and reading. Matt Selby, following his father Tim’s lead, started the Carrollwood publication. Matt’s wife Alexis Selby, editor of the Westchase publication is

the editor of the new Carrollwood Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles. Matt and Alexis are a great team and will no doubt be embraced by the Carrollowood community, just as they have been in Westchase. Matt Selby says, “We are so excited to bring this magazine to a new area because we know what we can do as a team to highlight the very best things that the community has to offer and to help out our local businesses by getting people excited about “buying local and shopping small business.” If you are looking to grow your business and want a cost-effective way to reach new customers in your local community and surrounding communities, Neighborhood News & Lifestyles is the way to go. We do everything we can to help local businesses reach their target market and thrive! The screening is painless and only takes about 10 minutes. More than 50,000 American were diagnosed with cancers of the head and neck last year, which in-

4

clude cancers of the oral cavity, larynx and pharynx, and by the time they are diagnosed, for some, it’s too late. Oral, head and neck cancers claim approximately 12,000 lives per year. However, if diagnosed early, these cancers can be more easily treated without significant complications, and the chances of survival greatly increase. Who should get tested? Every adult. Tobacco and alcohol users traditionally have been considered the populations at greatest risk for these cancers. However, oral cancer cases are on the rise in younger adults who do not smoke, and recent research indicates this development is due partly to the increase of the human papillomavirus (HPV) virus, a cancercausing infection that can be transmitted by oral sex. HPV-related oral cancers are more difficult to detect because these cancers usually occur on the back of the tongue or on the tonsils, providing even more reason to get screened regularly. Early diagnosis and treatment improves outcomes and chances of

survival, particularly for individuals with HPV-related oral cancers. This free screening is sponsored and hosted by Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, 14000 Fivay Road in Hudson; use Entrance D. Hospital Corporation of America Named One of Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies for 4TH Consecutive Year Hospital Corporation of America (NYSE: HCA), a leading healthcare provider with 162 hospitals and 112 ambulatory surgery centers in 20 states and London, England – including two area hospitals, Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point and Medical Center of Trinity – has been named one of the Ethisphere Institute’s 2013 World’s Most Ethical Companies. It is the fourth consecutive year HCA has achieved this distinction. The Ethisphere Institute, a leading international organization dedicated to the creation, advancement and sharing of best practices in business ethics, governance, anti-corruption and sustainability, established its World’s Most Ethical Companies in 2007. According to Ethisphere, companies recognized are those that truly embrace ethical business practice and demonstrate industry leadership, forcing peers to follow suit or fall behind. HCA is one of only four healthcare providers on this year’s list. “Because Ethisphere’s demanding selection process looks to the true ethical content of the day-to-day operations of organizations in all industries, this is

6

really recognition for all 200,000 individuals who work in the various facilities throughout HCA,” said Alan Yuspeh, HCA’s Senior Vice President and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer. “We have been included once again because our team reflects our values of compassionate patient care, fairness and integrity in all that they do. We are honored to have been chosen as one of Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies for the fourth year in succession.” In addition to HCA’s long-standing, industry-leading ethics and compliance program, which has served as a model for others, the company is a leader in environmental practices among healthcare companies. Increasingly, the company is purchasing ecofriendly products, using sustainable building materials, improving recycling efforts and using energy and water more efficiently. HCA has installed both solar and geothermal energy sources at facilities and helped lead an industry effort to create standardized environmental questions for healthcare purchases. HCA is a member of Practice GreenHealth and a charter member of the

Healthier Hospitals Initiative, two organizations that champion eco-friendly practices in healthcare. HCA also has been a pioneer in establishing an improved charity care and uninsured discount policy, which has been emulated by hospitals across the country. Later, HCA became one of the first providers to make detailed pricing information publicly available. HCA facilities provide extensive health care to individuals who are unable to pay for such care. In addition, the company is active philanthropically, supporting agencies that promote health and wellbeing, support childhood and youth development and foster the arts in Middle Tennessee. Through the HCA Foundation, the company has awarded grants totaling approximately $25 million since 2008. “Not only did more companies apply for the World’s Most Ethical Companies recognition this year than any year in the past, which demonstrates that ethical activity is an important part of many of these companies' business models, but we are also seeing more companies be proactive and create new initiatives that expand ethics pro-

grams and cultures across entire industries, such as industry-based ethics associations and other activities,” said Alex Brigham, Executive Director of Ethisphere. “We are excited to see the 2013 World's Most Ethical Companies take these leadership positions, and embrace the correlation between ethical behavior and improved financial performance.” Through in-depth research and a multi-step analysis, Ethisphere reviewed nominations from companies in more than 100 countries and 36 industries. The methodology for the World’s Most Ethical Companies includes reviewing codes of ethics, litigation and regulatory infraction histories; evaluating the investment in innovation and sustainable business practices; looking at activities designed to improve corporate citizenship; and studying nominations from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers and customers. Read about the methodology and view the complete list of the 2013 World’s Most Ethical Companies at http://ethisphere.com/wme. The World’s Most Ethical Companies list will also be featured in the 2013 Quarter 1 issue of Ethisphere Magazine.

Ferman Nissan, Chrysler, Jeep & Dodge of New Port Richey “Service, Selection & Value since 1895” By Katie Thomas The friendly associates at Ferman Nissan, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge of New Port Richey (Ferman NCJD) may have the keys to your new car! Whether you are looking at smokin’ hot sports cars, classy and sleek sedans, family-focused minivans, heavy-duty four-wheel-drive SUVs and trucks, the folks at Ferman will treat you right, making certain that you have a great experience. Ferman NCJD caters to its customers, honoring the Ferman legacy and tradition of exceptional service, selection and value that has been a trademark of Ferman dealerships throughout the years. Convenient to Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, Northern Hillsborough and Northern Pinellas Counties, Ferman NCJD is located at the intersection of U.S. 19 North and S.R. 54 and is

You’ll find exceptional customer care and outstanding inventory at both Ferman Nissan and Ferman Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge, which are located side-by-side at S.R. 54 and U.S. 19 N in New Port Richey known for providing the Tampa Bay area with quality customer care in both its sales and service departments, and its supreme inventory of both new and pre-owned vehicles. There are currently more than 800 vehi-

cles to select from at the diverse dealership, which has an outstanding, knowledgeable staff to help you find the car that is the perfect fit for your personal, unique style. The Ferman dealership has been a long-standing, reputable name in the Tampa

Bay area since 1895 when Fred Ferman bought out his partner and became sole owner of Tampa Cycle Company. Ferman has served the area in transportation needs for over a century with uncompromised values and a mission to treat employees

as family and guests as friends. At age 28, Fred Ferman opened Tampa’s first auto dealership in 1902 after applying for and winning an Oldsmobile sales agency. As with the ever-evolving auto industry, Ferman has grown and changed with the times, but one thing has always stayed constant, Ferman works to earn your business one car at a time through service, selection and value. On a recent visit to Ferman NCJD of New Port Richey, I was thoroughly impressed after a tour of the dealership. The Ferman dealership is divided into two separate lots, located side by side; Ferman Nissan and Ferman Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge. General Sales Manager Keith Miller and General Manager Jason Whidden head up a team that will make sure your visit is worthwhile and satisfactory. Keith Miller says, “We take pride in serving guests with service that finds them what they want that will fit their budget in a timely manner.” He and GM Jason Whidden explained that Ferman Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge has the largest truck inventory in the area. Dodge RAM trucks were voted 2013 Motor Trend truck of the year, and Ferman has a beautiful selection. Here at Ferman, your time will not be

Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

wasted. All prices at Ferman are from manufacturer’s point, you will never find addendum or additional markup on vehicles. No unnecessary packages are added to vehicles, ensuring that you get a great vehicle for a great price without the trivial expenses of unneeded upgrades. “Our stores are coming off their best month, selling over 340 cars in the month of March,” says Jason Whidden. “We owe thanks for our success to our wonderful guests and our Ferman team, who are completely dedicated to 100 percent customer satisfaction!”

Ferman Nissan – # 1 Dealer in Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando and Citrus I first explored Ferman Nissan, receiving a tour from sales associate David. The premises sport beautiful new and pre-owned cars at competitive prices. David showed me around the lot and his knowledge about each car located within the Nissan dealership was really helpful in determining which car would be the best fit for me during our test-driving experience. I decided to drive a 2013 3.5 liter V6 Nissan Altima SV, which comes standard with remote engine start and offers drivers continuously variable

Whether you are looking for a sports car, sedan, SUV, heavy duty truck or a family van, you’ll find many excellent choices at Ferman transmission (CVT). The CVT’s smooth gear changing technology allows for a quick, smooth and beautiful drive. I enjoyed utilizing the rear view camera and lane assistance technology that the Altima was equipped with, along with the clear sound of XM radio (which is free for three months with purchase of Nissan Altima!). There is nothing quite comparable to getting in a new car, decked out with the latest technology and feeling the performance of the vehicle come alive at the touch of a button. Smooth shifting with the sport pedal feature,

allowed me to experience the adrenaline of some well-executed turns and to get a feel for the handling of the Nissan Altima. After driving the innovative, quick accelerating and ultra smooth Altima, it is easy to see why the vehicle is Ferman Nissan’s bestselling car so far for 2013. With a 5star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment Program, “best-in-class” fuel economy of 38 mpg, and advanced driverSee “Ferman” on page 19.

By Julie Kanehl Thompson Dental at Trinity is a state-of-the-art family and cosmetic dental practice that has been a favorite to many Trinity residents since its Grand Opening in the Trinity Professional Park five years ago. He is very thorough, and welcomes any questions that I have.” She adds, “The hygienist, Dominique, was the best I ever had!” Dr. Thompson is a second-generation dentist, and was born and raised nearby, graduating from River Ridge High School. Patients are able to watch TV or listen to music while they receive treatment as well, so when the appointment is over, patients are truly smiling brighter and

feeling refreshed. One of the things that make Thompson Dental unique is Dr. Thompson’s willingness to treat people of all ages, from infants whose teeth are just budding, to adults who need dentures. Busy families love having one dentist to turn to for checkups, restorative work and cosmetic procedures. It’s also a testament to Dr. Thompson’s warm, whole-family approach to dentistry, that people of all ages enjoy going to the dentist at Thompson Dental. He says, “A lot of dentists don’t [treat] kids, but I tend to go slowly and take my time. I like to be able to examine everyone individually and treat them in the way that I would expect to be treated in their position.” Thompson Dental at Trinity has the newest technology like the ultralow dose digital x-ray machines, which give off as much radiation as eating a banana. (Did you know that the potassium in a banana actually gives off radiation?) These digital x-rays are an excellent tool, because any concerns that the doctor may have can easily

Dr. Thompson says, “We use digital x-rays and intraoral cameras so that we can easily show you cracks or cavities that we find.” Dr. Thompson takes a thorough and conservative approach with his patients, making sure that they are involved in every step of the process. He

explains, “I tell my patients what I see, and educate them on what I recommend, and then I let them decide.” This no pressure approach sets Dr. Thompson apart, and puts his patients at ease. In addition to routine checkups, regular hygiene and oral cancer screenings, Dr. Thompson and his staff can help with a multitude of restorative and cosmetic dental concerns, from cavities and crowns to bridges and veneers. The beautiful thing about cosmetic dentistry is that it is an art form in itself. Dr. Thompson can take something necessary, like a crown, and make sure that it is functional, comfortable, and even beautiful. Dr. Thompson can create the smile that you’ve always dreamed of having by using bonding techniques, veneers, dental implants and more. Bonding is a relatively quick way to repair teeth while cosmetically correcting the way that they look. In fact, it’s a perfect solution for fixing gaps, evening up your smile, filling-up a cavity and even covering up tooth stains. Bonding can last a long time – up to 10 years, and is an affordable and attractive way to improve your smile.

If you are missing some teeth, dental implants are a permanent, comfortable and beautiful solution. Dr. Thompson also can help with dentures, including partial dentures, conventional full dentures, and even immediate dentures. Some patients opt for mini-implants, which offer dental stabilization for dentures that can now snap right into place. If you are interested in teeth whitening, Thompson Dental at Trinity offers two kinds of options for their patients. One is a traditional teeth whitening by using trays that are especially formed to match your teeth, and you simply add the whitening solution to the trays and use them as often as you feel the need to. Another option is ZOOM!™, which is done in the office. Zoom!™ uses a low intensity light that activates a specially formulated whitening gel to whiten teeth by 6-10 shades in just about an hour. Dr. Thompson says, “Zoom!™ will last a year or more at least, although it varies due to a person’s diet. Things like coffee, red wine, soda and dark fruit juices can affect how long it lasts.” If you feel that you need more than teeth whitening to finally have

the smile you’ve always dreamed of, Dr. Thompson can make that dream come true. This is an amazing time for cosmetic dentistry, because your smile can be completely made-over. He says, “I enjoy the bigger cosmetic cases. It’s a process that takes time, but in the end the results can be lifechanging!” Thankfully, no matter what kind of shape your teeth are in, and no matter how long it has been since you have been to the dentist, there is hope and a real solution at Thompson Dental at Trinity. If you are a nervous patient, Dr. Thompson and his staff can offer Nitrous Oxide, although Dr. Thompson says that most people feel comfortable enough that they don’t find it necessary. Thompson Dental at Trinity meets and surpasses all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and CDC (Center for Disease Control) standards and accepts most dental insurances. If you don’t have dental insurance, they are offering a new patient special that includes an exam and x-rays for only $79. If you are looking for an experienced and compassionate dentist who

can treat the entire family, Thompson Dental at Trinity is dedicated to providing exceptional family dentistry and cosmetic dentistry needs. Thompson Dental at Trinity Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is located at 2202 Duck Slough Blvd, Suite 104 and is open Mon.– Thurs., 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and every other Fri. from 9:30 a.m.–1 p.m. To make an appointment or for more information, please call 727-375-2000 or visit Thompson Dental at Trinity’s website at www.TrinitySmiles.com.

David showed me his personal favorite car at Ferman Nissan, the SL Juke, which is 100 percent Japanese and boasts three different driving options: normal, sport and eco (economy). Eco mode works to give greater fuel economy, while sport mode tightens shocks, brings the car lower to ground and gives more boost. The Juke is turbo-charged with a 1.84 cylinder engine and is a fantastic small car alternative to other sedans. “People absolutely love this car once they feel its power and experience how much fun it is to drive,” said David. “The interior is phenomenal with cool illuminated kick plates and the Rockford Fosgate sound system that comes standard with the Juke really rocks!” Ferman Nissan is the fastest growing Nissan dealer in the southeast and serves as the #1 Nissan dealer in Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando and Citrus counties. Dedicated to community as well as customers, Ferman Nissan is well known for working with Habitat for Humanity; over 5,000 Nissan employees have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity since Katrina in 2005.

John and I test drove a couple vehicles from the lot and I had a wonderful time on the back roads of Anclote Road in a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport and a powerful 2013 Dodge Challenger. My first car was a 2001 Jeep Wrangler, and I have a special fondness for the wild-and-free, wind-in-yourhair feeling that driving a Jeep can give you. The Jeep that I drove at Ferman was extravagant and surpassed all my expectations! The Jeep Wrangler Sport’s 4x4 responsive 3.6 liter V-6 cylinder engine, paired with the classic Jeep design offers performance, style and ride enjoyment that leaves the driver feeling fully alive and excited to drive. Jeep Wranglers are completely authentic and whether you choose a hard or soft top, riding topless and free is easy, convenient and makes driving fun! I also test drove a fully deckedout Dodge Challenger SRT8 392; a beauty of a car, with stream-lined design, muscle car looks and a powerful HEMI engine under the hood. The heart of the SRT8 392 is a 6.4 liter Hemi V8 with 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. This car can move! In fact the SRT8 392 can go from a dead stop to 60 miles per hour in under five seconds. The latest Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 features more than 35 advanced safety and security features, including standard Keyless Enter-N-Go and three-mode electronic stability control (ESC) with segment-exclusive Ready Alert Braking and Rain Brake Support safety features to improve overall vehicle handling and performance. The Challenger is great for cruising, racing and even has a highway fuel rating of 23 mpg. I loved cruising along in the Challenger! With awesome soft touch interior, 18 speakers and rocket-fast pick-up, you will not be disappointed in this car! Customers are treated with great respect at Ferman Nissan and Ferman Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge, and if you

Action Fishing Adventures, ran by Captain Mike Manning is your shot to hook a big one and have the time of your life on the glassy, blue-green Florida flats. Mike’s love and passion for fishing led him to evolve into a flats fishing, inshore, backwater, near shore fishing guide. Mike knows the ins and outs of the

west gulf coast waters like the back of his hand and is well respected within the fishing community. Mike runs an impeccably kept 24’ Avenger powered by a stateof-the-art Yamaha 300. His Avenger is specifically designed to get you on the fish from the backwaters to the near shore reefs in the Gulf. “My boat draws just inches of water, yet offers a full transom and adequate freeboard to safely fish in most any condition,” explains Capt. Mike. “A high thrust electric trolling motor is utilized in stalking wary tarpon and a push poll is used to creep up on tailing fish in shallow water.” Rest assured that Captain Mike’s boat is outfitted beyond all Coast Guard Standards and decked out in the best gear/tackle you need; you’ll

Mike knows the sweet spots around our coastline and you won’t be disappointed in the amazing adventure you are going to have during his guided trip. If you have ever had the chance to reel in a tarpon, then you know how addictive this sport truly is. I caught my first tarpon when I was 16, off Egmont Key in St. Petersburg. I fought that huge “silver king” for almost two hours and when I finally got

it in I was exhausted, happy, near tears and full of adrenaline! I can honestly say it was one of the best fishing experiences of my life and watching that big tarpon jump in an awe-inspiring display of acrobatic twists was a beautiful sight that anyone could appreciate. Captain Mike says, “There is nothing like it when a bright silver tarpon weighing anywhere from 100 to 200 pounds clears the water by six feet.” Mike visits Boca Grande during tarpon season every year and hooks the big beauties during competitive tournaments. “After many years of tarpon fishing I decided to keep track of how many tarpon my clients jump during tarpon season from April to July in Boca Grande,” says Capt. Mike. “I thought this would be a great way to show potential clients just how good the tarpon fishing is in Boca. During the 2011 tarpon fishing season my clients jumped a whopping 513 tarpon, with the largest fish over 225 pounds! During the 2012 tarpon fishing season, my clients jumped 409 tarpon. In 2012 there was a small decline in the fishing due to weather conditions, but we still did great. This is why Boca Grande is world famous for

tarpon fishing. There is no place in the world that you go and hook that many tarpon in that short of a time frame!” Fishing a trip with Captain Mike at Action Fishing Adventures is a great way to bond with your family, have a fun trip with friends or show off Florida’s natural beauty to visitors. Mike has been featured on Fox 13’s Good Day Tampa Bay with Russell Rhodes, Left Coast Fishing National Syndicated Fishing Show, and has been featured in St. Petersburg Times outdoor column with Terry Tomin, Outdoor Editor Suncoast Fisherman’s Guide and selected as a guide to write for Capt.’s Corner for St. Petersburg Times sports column. “Zim Zari” Continued from page 1 walk in off the beach, shoes off, and be welcome here with open arms. Originally from New York (location of the first and only other Zim Zari), the Rehm family, owners and founders, frequently vacationed in California when the boys—three sons, Jim Jr., Jason and Johnny—were younger. It was these trips, and the attitude and lifestyle under the California sun, that inspired the Rehms to open a restaurant based on the variety of culinary influences found in the Golden State. Ask the Rehm family what Zim Zari means and they will tell you – it is freedom to head for the ocean, order boat drinks in the city, wear shorts on a weekday; it is the camaraderie of cooking the day’s catch over a bonfire, sharing surf wax with a stranger, passing the sangria to a new friend; it is a day well spent, whitecaps crashing, salt spray on your cheek, catching the perfect wave. What is Zim Zari? It is the joy of the perfect moment! California, as one of the nation’s largest states, encompasses a variety of climates and cultures. Reflecting this nature, Zim Zari’s menu covers a variety of styles and influences including components of traditional Southern Califor-

(l) The BBQ Chicken Quesadilla puts on display the restaurant’s focus on fresh aromatics, and features one of their many signature sauces. (r) Tacos are the specialty on the popular “Taco Tuesday,” where all varieties are available for only $2 nia, “Tex-Mex” cuisine (tacos, quesadillas, fajitas and burritos), flavors of the prominent Asian community, which frequently settle in California cities, while always staying true to various traditional American favorites along the way. Every table is offered a complimentary salsa upon seating, but this dish departs from the traditional “spicyred” by infusing sweeter flavors into their tangy, house-made blend. This consideration of flavor through freshness is apparent in items on the Zim Zari menu; all sauces, like the salsa, are completely engineered in house, same for the handcrafted margaritas and other highlighted drink specials. Even

the teas are brewed completely inhouse. The delicious result of this dedication comes through with each bite of the Rehms’ food. A personal favorite from the appetizer menu are the Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls. Served with a zesty houseprepared ranch infusion, the egg rolls provided a moist, easy-to-bite mouthful, and were a delightful re-imagination of the traditional American staple. All of the choices on the appetizer menu sound heavenly, but I can personally attest to the exquisite flavor of Zim Zari’s, Signature, Volcano Shrimp. The crispy, bite-sized shrimp are bathed in a smooth and creamy sauce, which

harbors a very tolerable hint of spice. The dish is served over a bed of lettuce with a fresh lime to squeeze on top, making a wonderful light appetizer to share (or to keep all to yourself). The dish proved so popular, the chefs created a variation, adding tomato, avocado, and a crowning of chipotle mayo to place the signature item in the taco portion of the menu as well. A favorite feature among Zim Zari fans is the various specials the restaurant chooses to offer each day of the week. Offers such as Margarita Monday, Ladies Night and $5 Burrito Thursdays, and Kids-Eat-Free Sundays all draw their respective crowds, but no

special is more popular than the renowned “Taco Tuesday.” On this day, all of the wide spectrum of taco creations are available; singly, for just $2 a piece all day throughout the restaurant. Selections from this menu are as varied as the Mongolian Beef (laid in an assortment of Asian sauces and vegetables), the airy West Coast Fish (a flaky, beer-battered cod, served under a divine chipotle cheese sauce) and the Surf and Turf Taco, featuring filet mignon and grilled shrimp. The menu also includes numerous options for fajitas, bowls, and ‘zimzaladas,’ each available in a wide variety of flavor profiles. Zim Zari’s Asian influences can be seen most clearly in its bowls section, featuring dishes like the Orange and Asian Chickens, as well as the Teriyaki Steak Bowl. These flavors also appear in fusions across the menu such as the Banzi Burger (prepared in a teriyaki marinade and topped with grilled pineapple, onions, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese) and Habanero Edamame appetizer. Zim Zari does not forget about the extremely strict dietary regimens that many ‘health-conscious’ Californians and Floridians adhere to. To accommodate these eaters they have included a selection of massive ‘pacific coast’ salads, including their California

Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

Tropical Salad, the Malibu, and the Crispy Coastal Salad, all piled high with a delicious assortment of succulent, ripened greens and a variety of fresh, delectable toppings. Jim and Johnny can always be found in the restaurant, greeting guests and personally assisting their staff, but their dedication to the original Zim Zari has never faltered. Monthly trips are made to the New York location to make sure everything is consistently maintained up to their demanding standards of quality. This care and attention to detail sets Zim Zari California Coastal Grill apart. Its menu creates many flavors not generally found in a “Mexican” or “Chinese” restaurant’s book of flavors. The unique blends and commitment to fresh ingredients make Zim Zari a truly unique dining experience – a must try! Zim Zari is located at 3230 Little Road in Trinity, in the Mitchell Ranch Plaza. Restaurant hours are; Mon. – Wed., 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.; and Thurs. – Sun., 11:30 a.m. – midnight. “Cleaning” Continued from page 1 first clients, an elderly lady she bonded with who was under Hospice care. One day, after Donna left a crystal angel for her, the lady told her caretaker that Donna was her cleaning angel, and shortly after passed away. All these years later, Donna is still emotional as she tells the story of how she came to name her business. Donna comes from a hard-working family of entrepreneurs and grew up with a strict work ethic. Being half Italian and half French Canadian, she was raised to be a hard worker, honest and dependable in a small town in the white mountains of New Hampshire called Gorham, where her family has owned an Italian restaurant for over 66 years. Donna explains, “The dedication and success in my cleaning business is due to the closeness of my wonderful family. I am proud and honored to say that I am following in the footsteps of my parents and grandparents. We know how to cook, clean and we give 100 percent to the business.” In addition to her family’s influence, Donna attributes the success of

her company to a determined attitude, a tremendous amount of ambition and meticulous attention to detail, which is accompanied by an unstoppable drive. An example of this drive was when after years of working on her own, she broke her ankle and hand in an accident. Donna knew she couldn’t continue cleaning on her own, and prayed for the future of her business and made the decision to hire her first employee. Detailed Cleaning When You Need It “I offer a very unique and personable cleaning service,” explains Donna. “My teams spend twice the time as other services for less money. The cleaning is top to bottom, complete and comprehensive. Donna realizes that many of her clients are working longer hours than ever. “They simply need help,” states Donna. “Even ten years ago, cleaning services were for the rich. Today, it is a necessity for many families and the cost is budgeted in just like the electric bill and utilities. The last thing my clients want to do on their day off is spend it cleaning their homes; time is precious and they would much rather be spending free time with family and friends.”
