From The Editor Alexis Selby With such a great response from our readers who really love their moms and dads, it was a good thing that we decided to do a random drawing for the winners, because with all the wonderful entries it would have been impossible to choose the “best” one. I hope everyone enjoyed their Mother’s Day and Father’s Day – I know did – and it really made those days even more special to be able to read all of the beautiful Father’s Day poems and Mother’s Day stories. And, the Grand Prize winner of the Father’s Day contest is….. Susan, Ann, Steven, Lynda and the Wagner Family, who wrote a touching poem for their father. F- Father, forever remembered as you gave us life filled with unconditional love, faith, funny. A- Always there for your family – no matter what, when or why, an attribute to our lives. T- Trust, togetherness, tender soul H- Heart of gold, heretic, happy, harmony from his heart

E- Exceptional, emulation, expedient (from his bible words) R- Recompense, responsible, righteous, and respected in so many ways – always remembered. We had so many submissions for the Father’s Day Contest, that in addition to drawing for one grand prize winner, we also decided to draw a couple more winners. The following is a list of the other winners and their poems: Andie Fields D Delightfully a loving person! A Amazingly smart & talented! D Does everything he can to help me shine! D Definitely there for me in good and bad! Y You rock daddy!!! Anusha "Meg" Bandyopadhyay Babi, you are always there for me, A supply of love and kisses. Babi, don't leave this world without me! Rasmussen College Hosts Leadership Lecture Series On June 13, 2012, the Rasmussen College Land O’Lakes/East Pasco Campus initiated their monthly Leadership Lecture series, which will be held on the second Wednesday of every month on campus and will be presented by local and state leaders, who will discuss effective everyday leadership behaviors, as well as the importance of respect, dignity, openness and trust. The mission of this monthly

event is to broaden the understanding of leadership behaviors in everyday interactions. Each month a new presenter will tell the story of their role as a leader, the challenges they have overcome, solutions they have come up with along the way, and successes that impact the quality of life here in Pasco County. Florida House of Representative, Richard Corcoran, began the Leadership Lecture series, as the first presenter to host the series. Representative Corcoran is a prime example of a successful leader, currently serving as the Vice Chair on the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee, as well as on the Health and Human Services, House redistricting, K-20 Competitiveness and Rulemaking and Regulation subcommittees. He is also a member of the Select Committee on Government Reorganization. Leaders like this really make a difference in the world and leadership is a learned skill – which is why these lectures are so beneficial. At the Leadership Lecture Series guest presenters will answer questions such as: 1. What is the most difficult leadership decision you had to make? 2. What is the best thing a young

Who has had the most impact on your leadership development? By Marcy Sanford Opened since February 2010, Fratelli Italian Restaurant offers a wide selection of authentic Italian dishes that are guaranteed to make your mouth water. With daily specials and low prices, Fratelli offers quality food at a very reasonable cost, so you can enjoy a great meal without breaking the bank. In addition to serving delicious food, Fratelli also has a full liquor bar. Located less than 10 minutes from the Westchase area, at 120 Commerce Boulevard in Oldsmar, you don’t have to travel far to find this cozy, family-owned restaurant. Owner Dominic Fratelli is originally from Brooklyn, but has lived in the Tampa area since the late 70s. He had owned a bar for many years, but

when the lease came up on it, he knew he wanted to open an Italian restaurant to provide the Southern, Neapolitan style of Italian food that he had grown up eating in the North East. The chefs at Fratelli, Luis and Roberto, both have many years of experience cooking Italian food and together with Dominic have developed a menu of classic Italian favorites that are sure to please every palate. When we arrived at Fratelli Italian Restaurant my daughter said, “It smells really good out here,” and she was right. Even from the parking lot we could smell garlic, Italian seasonings and fresh bread, giving us a nice preview of the delicious dinner we were about to have. They have a wonderful variety of delicious food at Fratelli – appetizers

The Meat Ravioli was perfect for our daughter, made with flavorful meat wrapped up in delicate freshly made pasta shell. My Eggplant Rollatini was wonderful. The fresh eggplant rolled around a cheesy filling and was topped with a rich and tasty red sauce that really hit the spot. The portions were so big that we had leftovers; which tasted just as heavenly the next day as they had been the night before. Fratelli also serves freshly made spaghetti, linguine, penne and riga-

toni, with your choice of sauce, and baked dishes like stuffed shells, baked manicotti, baked ziti and eggplant parmigiana. They also offer other tasty options such as their Chicken Marsala – a chicken breast sautéed with fresh mushrooms and savory marsala wine and Chicken Francese – chicken breast served with a butter, lemon and wine sauce. Fratelli also has a good selection of seafood entrees, such as their Shrimp Marinara – fresh shrimp sautéed with garlic, white wine and herbs, served with the homemade

The pizza at Fratelli has become a leading favorite among their customers. They make their dough fresh each day and use only the finest meats, cheeses and vegetables and the freshly made tomato sauce brings the dough and toppings together for a delightfully tasty combination. If you have room after you’ve finished your dinner, Fratelli has fabulous Italian desserts such as Spumoni, Cannoli and Tiramisu. They also have a wonderfully light and fluffy cheesecake. In addition to being a great place to go for dinner with family and friends, Fratelli can help you out if you need a place to hold a special event. They can accommodate large parties up to 70 people and have hosted baby and wedding showers, graduation parties and birthday parties at the restaurant. Stay Cool This Summer With Air Rescue By Marcy Sanford The dog days of summer are here and for those of you who know Florida, know the heat isn’t going to let up anytime soon. But, as long as you can escape into a nice cool house, you can handle the heat. The trained professional technicians at Air Rescue are here to help – whether you are in need of a new air conditioning system or just need some repairs and fine-tuning made to an already existing unit. In business since 1946, Air Rescue provides full-service air conditioning services, heating repair and installation. They have technicians oncall 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and can service all brands. Air Conditioning units have to work extra hard in the Florida heat and Air Rescue wants to make sure your A/C runs smoothly and coolly all summer long. Air Rescue’s Total System Rejuvenation guarantees that your A/C system won’t breakdown and can save you as much as $150 on your electrical bill. During the Total System Rejuvenation, a certified technician

10

JULY 2012

takes the A/C apart, cleans and lubricates all the parts, adds Freon to the system and makes sure everything is done to extend the life of your system, keeping your A/C in tip-top shape. If you have problems with allergies or asthma, the indoor air quality specialists from Air Rescue will give you a complimentary system evaluation. According to Scott Scarboro, Marketing Director for Air Rescue, there have been important changes and improvements made to ductwork over the years. “Older ducts were textured, which allowed dust and allergens to get trapped and build up inside, contributing to allergy and breathing problems,” states Scott. “Newer ducts are smoother with no

place for biological matter to get trapped and can help reduce allergens.” Sometimes old ductwork can also prevent your home from getting all the cool air your A/C unit is blowing out. If your system is capable of blowing out more air than can get through your ductwork, your system will work harder which could cause problems down the line. You are also paying for cold air that you aren’t getting. The professionals at Air Rescue will measure airflow and temperatures at both ends of your system to make sure everything is compatible, ensuring that your system is running efficiently and that you aren’t paying for something you’re not getting.

A/C units have become much more efficient over the past six years. If your system is more than eight years old, a new unit could save you enough money on your electric bill to end up paying for its self in the years to come. The A/C experts at Air Rescue will also analyze your home and energy needs and will find the system that will work best for you and your family. “I had a complete system installed in my home by Air Rescue. They were very professional, and I’m very happy with what they have done for me,” states customer Wade. If you do find yourself with an A/C unit that has completely broken down and needs to be replaced, Air Rescue will do their best to install a new A/C unit the same day or at the latest by the next day, ensuring you won’t have to sweat it out for too long. Air Conditioning is an essential necessity in Florida and Air Rescue encourages you to make sure your system is running as efficiently as possible so you don’t end up having to spend extra money on your electric bill –

helping you to avoid issues that could have been prevented. Some signs to look for that may signify an A/C problem are vents that are sweating or have condensation on them or an air handler that freezes up or won’t turn

on. If your electric bills have increased from what they were last year, this could also be a sign that your A/C is not working like it should. If you are having any of these problems or just want to make sure

Westchase Area Neighborhood News

your A/C is operating at maximum capacity and efficiency for the summer, give Air Rescue a call and let their experienced technicians analyze your system. In addition to NAT certification, all the technicians at Air Rescue go through extensive in-house training and regular continuing education courses to make sure they are up-todate and knowledgeable about the latest A/C repairs and technologies. Since 1946, Air Rescue has been Tampa Bay’s choice for full service air conditioning and heating repairs. With Tampa’s largest fleet of uniformed service technicians, Air Rescue has es-

tablished a reputation for being on time, doing it right the first time and offering 24/7 availability. They can help you reduce your energy bills and improve your indoor air quality. They are highly rated by the Upper Tampa Bay Better Business Bureau and on Angie’s List. They service all of Tampa Bay and the areas around it within a 40-mile radius. License # CAC1813365. Paul has an inspiringly positive and fun outlook on life and his friendly and always upbeat personality illuminates every room he walks into. He doesn’t let much bother him, and for good reason – Paul is a nine year U.S Army infantry veteran and has served our country admirably; being

deployed to the DMZ in Korea and to Bosnia during his service. Paul explains that he could have and probably should have been killed in action a handful of times and it was in the Army where he realized that life is way too short to stress over the little things and to always live life to the absolute fullest. Paul asks, “Who else but a nine year infantry veteran would you want to sell or list your home?” Paul and his wife Kim immerse themselves completely in their careers and are rapidly approaching a monumental mark in real estate, with nearly 1,000 sales between the two of them. Paul says, “The key to my success is if you call me – you get me!” Paul and his wife are always there for their clients and work seven days a week to ensure they are doing everything they can to help them. “People, it’s all about how you treat other people,” says Paul. The husband and wife team bounce ideas off one another and help each other out in any way they can.

Just imagine yourself looking for your dream home while being chauffeured around in a Rolls Royce Ghost! “Kim is a master at staging a home for potential buyers and she helps me with this crucial aspect of our job,” states Paul. Before listing a home, Paul and his wife do a walk through with the sellers, making suggestions and offering advice on what will make their

SOLD even a founder of the Feather Sound Rotary Club and gives back to the community in any way he can. Kim has served on the board of directors for the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce and both Kim and Paul are local to anyone in the Tampa Bay area. When it comes to real estate, Paul always tries to take things to the next level. If Paul is helping you buy a home, you can be certain he will get you the home of your dreams for the best possible price – many time saving his clients thousands of dollars on their purchase! “You can’t look at your clients as just another commission check,” says Paul. As for his listings, conventional wisdom states the first offer will be your best offer, but as Paul explains, “a good agent will get

you the most out of that first offer.” Therefore, instead of rushing his clients into accepting, like so many realtors do in this market just to make a quick dollar, Paul advises his clients to wait as he works his magic, always making the offer go further for his clients. Paul says, “Negotiating is easily the favorite part of my job. My clients’ home may be the biggest and most valuable investment or asset they have or may ever have and their financial well being is the most important thing to me.” What sets Paul apart from many realtors, especially in this economy, is that he really understands the power and importance of advertising and branding himself. Not only does his ad appear in the Westchase and Eastlake

Paul was recently chosen to have his very own segment every Saturday on 860 AM – The Home Team Sports Talk Show with Paul Porter – which airs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Paul is also all over the internet. His website is www.TouchDownTampaBay.com, where everything he touches turns to SOLD! On his website, which is very user-friendly, you can literally search MLS listings just like a realtor. Paul explains, “If you are plan-

ning on buying or listing a home in the near future and want to be in the face of thousands of people every single month, there is no other choice than the man in the Rolls Royce!” Yes, Paul has a Rolls Royce Ghost that he bought specifically for clients. Just imagine yourself looking for your dream home and being chauffeured around in that kind of luxury car! The real estate market is on its way back up and with rates at historic lows at less than 4%, there is no better time to buy! If you are looking to sell in this market the right realtor is crucial! If you are thinking of selling ‘Buy Owner’ just know that the average home sold that way closes for 8% less on average than one sold with a realtor. Utilize the expertise of a great realtor and your reward will be well worth it. So remember, when thinking of buying or selling your home, THINK KLINK!
