When Dance Extreme Academy opened four years ago, it was an instant hit! The new studio was the talk of the town, and more than that, the Dance Extreme Academy dancers were excelling, growing and winning at competition! Before long, they outgrew their digs! To provide for the growing number of dancers and their families, Dance Extreme Academy’s owner, Darlene Jones, decided to build a brand new studio. Palm Harbor Lobster Fest To Benefit Suncoast Primate Sanctuary Fri., Sat. & Sun, Sept. 26, 27, 28––The Suncoast Primate Sanctuary (SPS) invites the public to attend its first annual Palm Harbor Lobster Festival. There will be plenty of succulent freshly cooked whole Maine Lobster, lobster rolls, and other food to be enjoyed by all. The proceeds benefit the SPS. The event will be held Friday, September 26 through Sunday, September 28 on the grounds of SPS at 4600 Alternate Hwy 19, Palm Harbor. The three-day event will feature a variety of food, live music, eclectic vendors, and lots of FUN! Attendees can visit with, and learn about, the over 70 different animals that call the SPS venue home. Highlights include live Maine lobster dinners, VIP all you can eat Friday night event, a variety of great food vendors, Beer, wine, and other beverages, live stage entertainment with over ten local bands performing during the weekend, craft and specialty item vendors,

and local community vendors. The event hours are Friday, 12 p.m. – 9 p.m. with a VIP Opening night All You Can Eat Dinner including up to two whole Maine lobster dinners from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission to The Palm Harbor Lobster Fest is only $10 each day of the three day event. General food and drink tickets will be available on site. The Friday Night VIP dinner event is $65 and is limited to 100 people. This year’s festival will have road

closures from Sims Park throughout the entire downtown district, where you can walk with your beverages, including beer and wine. The Cotee River Bike Fest committee has been working closely with 10 local bars and restaurants in downtown New Port Richey that make up the Hospitality Managers Association. Since this event is back from its one-year hiatus the committee wants to make sure there is entertainment everywhere you look whether it be in Sims Park or on the way to one of our Official Bike Fest Bars or Restaurants. “Putting a second stage downtown is just going to add to the event. People For Haiti Needs Medical Professionals for Upcoming Mission Trips If you are in the Medical Field, your help is needed! People For Haiti, a non-profit medical mission organization, needs doctors, nurse practitioners and medical students to assist on a medical mission trips to Haiti this September and November. They also have mission trips in January 2015 and April 2015. If you have never been on a mission trip before, it is a life changing experience. You will stay in a clean, safe environment, and work in clinics in areas where people desperately need medical support. Medical Center of Trinity Holds Third Annual “Expressions of Thanks” Youth Art Contest Medical Center of Trinity announces its third annual “Expressions of Thanks” youth art contest to be held from Sept. 1-30, 2014. Rossi Ristorante Italiano has actually been serving delicious, authentic Italian food to local customers for nearly 30 years. Rossi has a beautiful dining room that is warm and inviting, classy and chic, and just like any Italian family, they have “the more the merrier” approach to dining. So whether you’d like to have a delicious cuisine and a glass of wine with your amore, or you’d like to feed the whole hungry crew with pizza and pasta galore, Rossi Ristorante Italiano has you covered. Located in the Seven Springs Plaza at 7254 S.R. 54, Rossi Ristorante Italiano is owned by Gabriella Rossi, who moved with her family from Italy to New York where she met her late husband, Nick. Together they moved to New Port Richey where Rossi Ristorante Italiano was born with the goal of serving the entire

After Nick passed away many years ago, Gabriella, her sister Manuella and her manager, Sherry, have worked to make Rossi Ristorante Italiano the restaurant that is today. When I sheepishly admitted that I had never eaten at Rossi, Gabriella told me that I wasn’t alone in just discovering her restaurant. Amazing!” That’s right, offering gluten free options for customers (which is amazing at a Italian restaurant!), they are also very committed to providing excellent quality food, so while the preparation and the technique are phenomenal, they know that it all has to start with the best, all natural, ingredients they can find. Paul said, “My favorite Italian restaurant in the Tampa Bay area--my family has been coming here for 20 years. Their pizza is among the best I've had, and the pasta is always al dente. The chicken picatta is fork-tender, the veal pizzaiola is dynamite, and you can't go wrong with the penne alla vodka.” So, those are some great reviews, but my favorite came from my own dad, who said, “It was great! We’re going back in a couple days and bringing our friends!” Rossi is very accommodating! It’s not unusual to hear someone say, “Can I bring in a party of 30 on Saturday afternoon for a birthday party?” So, keep that in mind! Also, they have a full catering menu to serve parties of any size, which means that you can truly share your favorite Rossi dishes with everyone you love! Living right down the road from the cabin, they were always there if we had any questions and truly made our experience memorable. Their dogs made great walking companions, especially their beautiful Husky Rocco, who on the first night stayed outside our window, guarding us against any creatures that might be lurking about. Fred Austin, a Health Care Administrator in Florida for 17 years, got to missing his mountains and seasons and returned to Kentucky. He built the cabins at Bear Track Lake Adventures as a way to share this beauty with the rest of the world, and since his first cabin was built over three years ago, Fred has had guests from as far away

Sleepy Bear’s Dream With two bedrooms, two bathrooms and an additional loft with a bunk bed, the Sleepy Bear’s Dream, comfortably sleeps seven, and is the perfect option for families. Newly built in January, the cabin is immaculate and features hand-crafted furniture, custom wood countertops, two thirdfloor balconies, a full downstairs with a pool table, a work out bike and a hot tub, and my personal favorite – a back porch that overlooks the lake. Just picture yourself waking up to that amazing view, drinking your morning coffee as you sit back in the rocking chair taking in the serenity of the lake as the fog slowly rolls off the top of the water. The feeling is almost surreal, knowing you are amongst nature in its truest form, something untouched by man.

I think Fred and Janice were very clever in naming these cabins as you truly feel like a bear in hibernation from the rest of the world. As amazing as the cabins are on the inside, if you love nature than you are going to have to walk outside and explore the many sights that Lee county Kentucky has to offer. And the best part is, if you are looking to do some exploring, you don’t even have to leave the property. With numerous hiking trails and walking paths, as well as cliffs, geological formations and many other unique sights, you can surely get your fix of nature on this 32 acre retreat. They also have a boat so you can take a trip around the lake for a different perspective; or possibly throw out a line to catch some catfish for lunch. Oh yeah, and did I mention – right outside the cabin doors are numerous 50 million year old caves, one of which boasts cave carvings that date back to what archaeologists believe to be over 8,000 years old. In fact if you are an adventure seeker and consider yourself to be the “outdoorsy” type you even have the option of staying in one of the caves overnight. “How would you like to stay in a 50 million year old hotel,” jokes Fred, “we have that!” “This is an amazing cabin and

Canine Estates Offers Companionship, Love, Safety and Hope for Dogs Who Need a Home! “Saving One Tail at a Time” is the motto of Canine Estates, Inc, a non-profit (501c3) adoption and sanctuary for dogs, which is located right here in Palm Harbor. And yes, they have some beautiful dogs for adoption that can bring you joy and unconditional love. Canine Estates was started by three sisters - Sybil Freeman, Jayne Sidwell, and Barbara Erskine – in 2011 to offer a homelike environment for small dogs that have been abandoned, neglected or simply surrendered by their owners for various reasons. Jayne and her husband Greg Sidwell started rescuing dogs some years ago and soon realized they could not possibly house all the dogs in need. They purchased a home and renovated it for the dogs! Thus, Canine Estates was born! Growing up in Alabama as children, people started dropping dogs on their front door knowing the families would take care of them. These kind folks wanted to make a difference so instead of retiring; Canine Estates became their retirement. Canine Estates is unique in that

“Brain Balance” Continued from page 1 A Balanced Brain is a Successful Brain! The Brain Balance program comes directly from Dr. Robert J. Melillo’s research on neurobehavioral disorders. Dr. Melillo, is a worldrenowned neurologist, professor and author who strongly believes that all of these conditions, which were previously thought to be unrelated, are in fact related, and can be grouped into what is called “Functional Disconnection Syndrome.” Children who are diagnosed with any of these conditions, actually have healthy brains! In fact, in his book, Disconnected Kids, Dr. Melillo explains that if you were to take a child with any of these conditions and give them an MRI scan, or any other number of medical tests, there would be nothing to find. Their brain is not damaged. These issues are all connection issues, and research has proven that the left hemisphere of the brain and the right hemisphere of the brain have distinct responsibilities, abilities and functions. Most of us can easily be labeled “left-brained” or “rightbrained” but research has found that when one-half of the brain has a defi-

ciency, it leads to these connectivity issues, which can result in a “disconnect” between a child and their ability to learn, communicate and succeed. The goal is to challenge the hemisphere of the brain that is showing a deficiency, and to stimulate it so that it will learn to function. The Brain Balance here in Oldsmar is actually owned by Director Larry Polnicky, who wanted to find answers for his own son Ben, who has autism. The Polnicky family wanted a solution that didn’t require medication, and while the closest Brain Balance Center was hours away, they were so impressed with the program that they even moved for a time to be closer to it. Their experience with the Brain Balance program was so powerful that he and his wife decided to bring the opportunity to other families in our area. Larry says, “This summer is a wonderful time for parents to choose a program, like ours, that will change their child’s life.” Brain Balance offers programs all year long, and this summer they are inviting families to consider enrolling their child in a program that can honestly change lives for the better! Children who enroll in the program are usually between 5 and 18 years old, and they may have been given a “label” by a school or even a pediatri-

Studios 5, 6, 7 and 8 are awesome spaces, lined with mirrors, ballet bars, and designed with a specialized floor to protect young dancers! Knowing that dancers often spend a lot of time at the studio, DEA created a space designed for specifically for students, so they can study, complete assignments and work quietly! It’s called the Student Café! This student-only café area is a real blessing for the older students who have a lot more homework! Another cool addition: Dancers also have their own locker room and a changing area that is separate from the restrooms! To top it all off, Dance Extreme Academy added a larger retail space by adding what could be called a dance boutique! One of Dance Extreme Academy’s most talked about additions is their Acro/Tumbling room, featuring a 40-foot by 16-foot tumbling track. Awesome for gymnastics and acrobatics to learn safely, it’s also a ton of fun!
