Dunedin USCGAUX Flotilla 11-10 member wins prestigious Daniel Maxim Instructor Award The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is pleased to announce that Auxiliarist Cono “Buddy” Casale has been selected as the 2020 Commodore Daniel Maxim Award for Excellence in Education award recipient. Buddy is a long time member of Seventh District (D7), Flotilla 11-10, based in Dunedin, Florida. This award recognizes the best CGAUX instructor in the country. Auxiliarist Casale brings to his classes a wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge of boating skills and safety. The award is based on training instructor effectiveness and performance, mentorships, ability to develop new and innovative teaching methods and techniques and developing innovative teaching aids. He is a masterful instructor who runs his classes with respect, tact, and humor. In addition to teaching the general public, Buddy created and teaches a simplified course at various high schools in the area. The US Coast Guard Auxiliary is comprised of 26,000 members who volunteer 3.8 million hours per year in support of the U.S. Coast Guard, including in the classroom, at the ramp and pier, and operation of 1800 vessel, 160 aircraft and 1400 radio facilities.
