中央研究院嶺南美術館成立於民國九十一年六月二十八日，典藏嶺南畫派開宗三大家為主，廣東其他近代名家為輔，為開館之奠基。作品中當以高劍父、高奇峰、陳樹人三家上朔居廉開山遠祖，下及於歐教授之業師趙少昂等前代大師各時期代表作品為重點，頗足一窺嶺南藝術之源起與縱橫開闔，開拓時風之梗概。「嶺南畫派」，亦稱「折衷派」，以其折衷古今中外之意也，又與時代精神的契合，形成嶺南畫派最大的特色。嶺南三家同師番禺隔山嘯月琴館的居廉（古泉）師，專意寫生花卉草蟲，默契自然，轉成自我法度，創撞粉法，賦色妍妙，纖濃合度。嗣後三家相繼赴日習繪事，受世界藝術思想影響，認為國畫亦不能墨守前規，必待新變，三家善取西洋畫理為用，揚棄其呆滯成規，以豐富國畫自身內容。

Although usually known as a research institution, Academia Sinica has been striving to promote art and culture. In 2002, the institution resigned its interior so as to accommodate the Lingnan Fine Arts Museum after receiving the donation of more than a hundred Lingnan paintings from the well-established Lingnan painter Au Ho-nien. The Lingnan School is famous for innovation in modern Chinese art history; its core values include promoting the regeneration of traditional Chinese painting and developing a modern style by combining the techniques of Western painting and Chinese ink painting. Since the School was named after its region (namely “South of the five mountains” in Chinese), some critics believed that it is more appropriate to call it “School of Compromise” instead, which may suit the artists’ pursuit better. The Lingnan Fine Arts Museum’s collection includes works by Ju Lian (the founder of Lingnan school), Gao Jian-fu, Gao Qi-feng and Chen Shu-ren (the three masters of Lingnan School), Au Ho-nien and other Lingnan artists. The Museum features the first professional archive of Lingnan paintings in Taiwan, witnessing changes in the history of Chinese painting.

吳大猷先生 (1907-2000)是近代中國著名的學者和

國際知名的物理學家，先後執教於北京大學及西南聯大，曾任中央研究院物理所所長及中央研究院院長。吳先生為我國第一代物理學家，將現代物理帶回中國，一生培育人才無數，其對物理學界的貢獻與影響，更被學界尊為近代中國物理學之父。吳先生中年以後在台灣領導科學發展，強調基礎科學的重要性，曾任國家科學委員會主任委員、教育部科學教育指導委員會主任委員等，現在台灣科技人才大半有較良好的科技基礎，吳教授的遠見居開創之功。 2000年3月4日吳大猷先生逝世後，7月21日中研院物理所所務會議通過請林爾康、李定國、謝雲生共同籌備吳大猷紀念館之建館事宜，並決定設置在物理所大樓舊棟四樓。 2001年3月 5日吳大猷紀念館啟用，正式開放參觀。紀念館陳列吳大猷先生的生平事蹟，其著作、遺物、手稿、照片及吳先生記錄影片等，也陳列吳先生的收藏、嗜好、家居生活、就任物理所所長的辦公室及起居室。

Dr. Ta-You Wu (1907-2000) was a renowned scholar in contemporary China. He is also an internationally well-known physicist. Dr. Wu once taught at Peking University and Southwest United University. Later on he served as the Director of Institute of Physics, Academia Sinica before becoming the President of this Academy. Dr. Wu did pioneering works in introducing modern physics to China. He taught and inspired a number of famous physicists including Nobel Laureates Chen-Ning Yang and Tsung-Dao Lee. Since his middle age, Dr. Wu began to lead the science development in Taiwan. In his capacity as chairperson of the National Science Council and of the Science Education Advisory Committeethe for the Ministry of Education, Dr. Wu made many important policies to promote the science and technology education in Taiwan. Throughout his life Dr. Wu made an enormous impact on the development of modern physics in China and Taiwan. He is thus regarded as the Father of contemporary Chinese physics. After Dr. Wu’s passing away in 2000, the Institute of Physics at Academia Sinica appointed Dr. Erh Kang Lin, Dr. Ting Kuo Lee and Dr. Wan Sun Tse to be responsible for the establishment of the Wu Ta-You Memorial Hall, which is located on the 4th floor in the building of the Institute. The Wu Ta-You Memorial Hall was open to the public on March 5th, 2001. Dr. Wu’s books, manuscripts, photographs and documentary films are exhibited. Also on display are Dr. Wu’s private collection, his legacy, his office and living-room during his tenure as the Director of the Institute of Physics.

本實驗室為一由行政院國科會補助，於中央研究院執行的國家型計畫。此計畫的短期目標是要尋找異常或具有疾病的老鼠動物模式，以此作為醫學臨床與疾病研究的工具；長期目標則是欲深入了解基因功能與生命的相互關係，以開發出與疾病相關之預防和治療方法。有鑑於國家投注相當多的資源與人力於本計畫，且有初步的研究成果，深感有回饋社會的的必要，應將此成果積極推廣、往下紮根，讓更多人瞭解本核心實驗室的工作內容，並讓此項實驗計畫附加教育意義，特別設置教育推廣活動。以期藉此啟發未來主人翁對生物科學或醫學的興趣，進而為台灣的生

物、醫藥科技努力，建構美好的未來。參觀內容部份，我們將播放公共電視為本實驗室拍攝的短片，也將有專員解說，並在參觀走道上展示一些本實驗找到擁有著有趣突變外觀的突變小鼠。

The Mouse Mutagenesis Program Core Facility (MMPCF) is funded by National Science Council as part of the Genomics and Proteomics Center at the Academia Sinica. By determining the function of genes on a mouse chromosome, we can extrapolate to predict function on a human chromosome. We expect many of the new mutants to represent models of human diseases such as birth defects, patterning defects, growth and endocrine defects, neurological anomalies, and blood defects, etc. The establishment of the Educational Development Program provides the possibility for visitors to interact with science. Our goal is to make a better utilization of our core facility and provides open-ended and motivating activities for visitors so that students will be able to expand their horizons. By opening up this door to visitors, The Mouse Mutagenesis Program Core Facility would like to share the behind-the-scenes treasure with you and trust that you will appreciate our hard work.

化學研究所設立於 1928年，為中央研究院最早設立的數個研究所之一。 1957年於台北復所，工作領域逐年擴充，在純化學及應用化學的範疇裡，延攬優秀研究人員，添置精密儀器設備，並興建研究大樓。目前所長為陶雨台博士，現有的研究則選擇重要主題領域，群策群力，整合在三個方向，包括材料化學、催化反應及化學生物學。現今約300名研究人員從事研究工作。

The Institute of Chemistry was among the first several institutes established when Academia Sinica was founded in 1928 inNanking, China. During its first two decades, despite the difficult times of World War II, the Institute managed to grow and contribute to chemistry research in China. In 1949, Academia Sinica was moved to Taiwan, and eventually relocated to the present site at Nankang, Taipei. In 1957, the Institute of Chemistry was reinstated in Taiwan. Until1970's,earlier research was focused on applied chemistry related to, for example, fermentation, food chemistry and starch chemistry. During this period, the support from the government was limited. It was not until 1980 when the economic situation in Taiwan had been significantly improved that steady progress in research at Academia Sinica was achieved. The Institute of Chemistry has benefited from the economic growth of the island. Many of our colleagues were recruited during this period. In 1983 the Institute was moved in the modern five-story Chien Shih-Liang Memorial Hall, and in 1995 a second eight-story research laboratory was built. Research interests of our colleagues were expanded to organic synthesis, organometallic chemistry, structural chemistry and the chemistry of materials. However, lack of manpower was the major obstacle for research at this Institute. Even under these circumstances, research continued its steady growth. Since the mid-nineties, the research programs of the Institute have been regrouped into three main areas: materials chemistry, chemical biology and catalysis. Colleagues with backgrounds in synthesis, analytical chemistry and computational chemistry work together on integrative research programs in the above areas

本院之「森林生態研究園區登山步道」由財團法人溫世仁文教基金會捐贈建造。步道東起於體育館後方，西至人文科學館，全長約362公尺，最高海拔約65公尺。全程約15-30分鐘，步道最高點的觀景平台可遙望七星山及大屯山群。東側步道穿越森林，林下有多種蕨類與灌木，喬木則形成高大相連的樹冠層，依季節而有不同的花果、昆蟲與鳥類等景色。西側步道穿越早年開墾後留下的竹林，林相較單調且乾燥。步道沿途提供院內同仁輕鬆短暫的森林浴並希望藉由親近此地森林生命之美，喚起大家對生態復育工作的覺醒，使院區的早期人工竹林漸漸還原成自然的森林風貌。

Forest Park Ecology Research of Academia Sinica is contributed by Sayling Wen Cultural and Educational Foundation. This park, a total length of 362 meters and highest elevation at 65 meters, is located in between the gymnasium and the building of Research Center for Humanities and Social Science. You may enjoy the beautiful scene of Qi-Xing Mountain and Da-Tun Mountains at the highest point of this park which takes about 15-30 minutes to walk through. On the eastern side of the park is a forested habitat where native ferns and shrubs cover the ground and trees form a thick intertwined canopy, therefore the seasonal distinction is form by the flowers, fruits, insects, birds, and etc. The western side of the park passes through a drier monoculture bamboo plantation which is a remnant of earlier settlements. Forest Park Ecology Research is a place for colleagues to have a short but delightful forest shower, meanwhile for visitors to be aware of the importance of conservations. Through ecological restoration processes, the bamboo plantation will gradually transform into a forest ecosystem that was once flourished on Academia Sinica campus.
