FROM THE OWNERS: Dear Prospective Purchasers, Our family has lived on Appaloosa Drive for the past 14 years, and we have felt incredibly blessed to live in this very special home. We previously rented in Lake Ridge for 13 years, and enjoyed it so much that we purchased here when the opportunity arose. If it were not for retirement and relocation, we would love to stay here for many more years. This house has been a perfect fit for our family. Though we tend to spend most of our time in the Kitchen/Breakfast Room/ Family room area, the well-designed floorplan makes good use of space throughout. There has been ample room as each of our young adult children cycled through for a season, and we were able to host several people in succession who needed temporary housing. The lower level provided each with space and as much privacy as desired. It has been great for grandchildren visits as well, with the large yard and the quality school playground being fun extras for them. We have worked over the years to maintain and update the home, such that there are no major projects looming, leaving you free to focus on personalizing it. We love the deck for cooking out and for reading or relaxing. It is semi-private with an open feel due to the large common area behind it. On rainy or stormy evenings, the covered front porch allows us to sit outside and enjoy the weather. The neighbors are super people. We watch out for each other, and pitch in to help each other as needed. When on travel during “Snowzilla 2016,” I called a neighbor to ask if he could use his snow-blower on our driveway, only to find out he had already done it! Many people in the community are active or former military, giving the community a safe feel. Whenever one of our children lived here (both our daughters are runners) they would watch out for them as they would their own. The PNats have regular fireworks that can be seen and heard from here, and between them and the added contribution of some fun neighbors, July 4 is always a special evening. The walking/biking paths have been wonderful, as we enjoy long walks. They extend throughout the Springwoods and Westridge communities – all the way around the golf course to the PNats stadium (dollar nights on Mondays) to the west, and through the woods along the water to Lake Ridge Park and eventually all the way to Occoquan to the east. There are three grocery stores and many quality restaurants within a couple miles, for dine-in, delivery, or carry-out. There are many goods and services provided within this area as well. Prince William Parkway and Potomac Mills are less than four miles away, offering many more shopping and dining services along with a theater. Commuting is a way of life in Northern Virginia. Fortunately, there are good Lake Ridge buses to the Pentagon and downtown, and large parking lots for park and ride or those who “slug” to work – an effective and money-saving way to travel. We have loved living in this area, with the Smithsonian Museums, the National Zoo, and music and theater and sports venues being highlights. We hope you love this home and neighborhood as much as we have!
