Dear Prospective Home Buyer, Our family has lived here in Briarwood for over twenty years, certainly a lifetime for the Northern Virginia area! Finding an affordable home close to work and great schools was important to us. Laurel Ridge is the closest elementary school that feeds into Robinson Secondary– it will be hard for your child to miss the bus as you can see it approach from the front bay window of our corner lot. Graduates can attend Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, fifteen minutes from our home or George Mason University only five minutes away in the opposite direction. Our home has been a central location for our extended family and holiday gatherings. For many years we celebrated Memorial Day and Fourth of July with outdoor barbecues. The home is situated on one-third of an acre with a lot of room for outdoor games, gardening and relaxing on the recently renovated front gray slate patio. Briarwood is a small community of 202 homes with great neighbors. Through the years we have enjoyed participating in Spring and Fall Festivals at the community playground which have often included a children’s parade or a visit from the local fire engines. At Halloween, many of the neighbors set their portable fire pits out on the driveway and offer beverages and snacks to the adult chaperones as they make their rounds thru the neighborhood! Thru the years we’ve watched as the neighborhood has matured, children growing up and moving out to attend colleges or start their careers. Recently we have seen an increase in young families moving in. Many of the afternoon dog walkers are often joined with couples and their baby strollers. Our home has a number of features that are special. We expanded the family room downstairs, merging it with the small bedroom for a larger family area. In 2014 we added on a first-floor master bedroom suite and garage in order to create a home with “one-level” living. The kitchen renovation this year is the latest – our granddaughter was actually the first to cook dinner in it! Though we will miss our home and our neighborhood, we are hoping that it will be perfect for a young and growing or a multi-generational family who can take advantage of the location and the amenities available here.
