FROM THE OWNER Dear Prospective Home Buyer, This house has been “home” to our family for more than half a century! Our parents were a young couple when they purchased it in 1965. We literally grew up in this place, and so we regard it tenderly as a special friend. Our parents have passed on now, and since we have homes of our own, it is now time to hand this one on to another family to begin making special memories of their own here. We grew up playing pick-up football with our friends and enjoying our pets in the lovely yard, gathering with the family for countless meals and lively discussions in the dining room, and admiring the Christmas tree that was always centered in front of the beautiful bay window in the main living area at holiday time. The comfy den off the kitchen was the go-to gathering place to cheer for the Redskins on TV. It was under this roof that we both courted the young women who eventually became our wives, and here we happily brought our own children for regular visits, and – eventually – our grandchildren as well. This neighborhood is truly wonderful! The street is quiet, great shopping is close at hand, and these streets contain an interesting mix of new-families-with-children and folks who have been here for a while. Keene Mill Manor has a small-town feel, yet also is made up of an interesting mix of people who hail from all across our country and even around the world! The schools are wonderful and easily walkable. We literally never rode a bus to elementary or junior high school. We even walked to the high school until we got our own driver’s licenses (being “too cool” at that point to ride a school bus)! Easy access to all parts of the D.C. area is facilitated by the nearby Beltway and I-95/395. It’s about 3 miles to ramps onto both from the driveway, and the Express/HOV lanes save even more time for those who choose to use them while commuting. There are many fine restaurants within a short drive here in Springfield. The Springfield Mall has a wide variety of excellent stores, as does the world-class Tyson’s Corner Center just a bit farther away. Excellent medical and dental care are readily available within a radius of several miles. Throw in the vast array of historic, architectural, entertainment, and cultural attractions of the Washington Metropolitan area, and it all adds up to a beautiful community that has something for everyone and where living so convenient and enjoyable. If only these walls could talk! Our Blairton Road home has brought us such joy and special memories over the years, and we will surely miss it.
