objective To design a concept and production boards for a 60-second trailer for the Film Society of Lincoln Center Student Trailer Competition that meets all the requirements of the contest.
concept This project will highlight the Film Society of Lincoln Center via graphic montage and creative use of imagery in promoting and emphasising the operations and contributions as a popular cinematheque.
research The Film Society of Lincoln Center based in New York City, United States, is one of the world's most prominent film presentation organizations. Founded in 1969, the film society's focuses is on putting spotlights on American Independent and World Cinema, and to recognize and support new filmmakers The Film Society of Lincoln Center is one of the twelve resident organizations at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Over the last four decades, the film society has introduced to American audiences the works of many of the world's most acclaimed filmmakers, including names such as: François Truffaut, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Jean-Luc Godard, Pedro Almodóvar and Martin Scorsese. Each year the organization presents its annual Gala Tribute honoring legendary stars and industry leaders at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall. Project C progress Comments Professor Elliott "Aesthetically I think that this is coming along.... Keep the typeface consistent, as well as its treatment. Avoid outlines if they are not necessary since they really cut down on legibility fairly quickly. Think of the continuity of the animation from frame to frame. There is not enough sense yet of how the animation will progress from one frame to the next. Do the lines of the logo extend outward with a pan of the camera? Does the text fade of animate in position ? "
Z.Mclarhen "With type, I usually believe less is more....removing the strokes on the letters and instead doing some real subtle effects might help it read a bit more elegantly...The yellow you are using in Frame 3 is a nice complement to the cool blues and violets in your background..."

Project C finals Revision The text was given a softer treatment and yellow used to open highlights in each frame. Distinct transitionals such as frame 5 were created to improve continuity as well as using elements (camera,logo) to transition on a circular path. See Hi-res frames below...
