Cover Story takes the dance floor with magic. She says, ”But we thought to do it differently this time.” She has initiated a dance-workshop for Nepalese children. She conducts dance lesion for them on Sundays and charges the kids $8 per session which she donates to flood relief program of YFC Club. YFC Club is collecting funds to support the victims of recent landslides and floods in Nepal. Usha expresses her gladness that she is a part of the club’s fundraising drive. “This way, I am doing two things at a time. Firstly, (I’m) teaching our little kids our art and culture. Secondly, raising fund with what I am good at”, says her. It doesn’t necessarily mean that giving means ‘money straight out of your pocket’. Deekshya Dahal
“You can give a penny; wouldn’t it be great if your friend adds a penny to it?” says Deekshya Dahal. That’s why she is always found helping someone in need. This beautiful nurse says that when someone is in a difficult situation, just sitting quiet and sympathising is easy but agonising. She says, “I can’t just sit quiet and sympathise” In a recent call for financial aid for a Nepalese student who is suffering from Aplastic Anemia and is undergoing treatment at Westmead Hospital, Deekshya

to Kenya on a volunteering trip last February. She s ays, “I wanted to let know all my family and friends around the world a bout my challenge and the act of raising fund for this beautiful young girl, Sangeeta. Essentially, mycause.com. au brings together fundraisers, charities and donors, uniting them with a common goal. Not only are you able to send your personal fundraising page to your own network of family and friends, but your page will b e availa ble to view on the website. This time, I have submitted by charity cause of helping the flood affected people in Nepal. The entire amount from it will go to the disaster hit Nepalese through YFC Club. These days her facebook is swamped with posts related to fundraise appeals and ‘thank you’ notes to all the donors who donate to her request. Just some weeks earlier, she was busy collecting clothes for children of Pawitra Sewa Samaj, an orphanage run by Dikshya Chapagain in Kathmandu. She has collected about 40 kilos of nice clothes for them. “ We N e p a l e s e a r e a generous lot. However, we need to ask for help when needed. I’m not ashamed of asking people to contribute for philanthropic deeds. And they donate, which means it’s not me who gives, it’s you all people. I’m just a medium”, Deekshya says humbly. As a part of YFC Club’s Relief Fundraising Campaign, Deekshya is collecting fund online. Anybody can go to mycause.com.au and donate for the support of the victims of June floods in different parts of Nepal. “My target is to collect $5000 from mycause.com”, she says confidently. “All other friends are very actively going around fundraising. I have many friends all over the world and their support has been overwhelming”, Deekshya says. As nurse by profession, she says that she gets to see people’s suffering first hand. The plight of the homeless fellow Nepalese has disturbed her so badly that she wants to go to their makeshift huts with whatever she can do. We are getting them food, clothes, medicine and all other needed materials to help them rehabilitate. When in Kenya, she volunteered in a medical centre in a small town called Nakuru vaccinating children, performing HIV testing, counseling TB patients and handling TB drugs. The trip to Kenya has taught me that we have so much to give for humanity, says Deekshya. She’s been an active member of Sydney based YFC Club and has led many of the events organised by the club. For her outstanding participation in group blood donation drive last year, she received appreciation from an Australian minister. It feels good when you go out and help people, it gives a feel of content, shares beautiful Deekshya.
