PEOPLES PARTICIPATION: MAIN PROBLEMS There is only rope way to cross over Satluj from Bhaba nagar.

Path from Chhota Kamba - Gharshu - Brianang is nerrow and in poor condition in steep slope.

A large stone at Wasakpo, the height of Chhota Kamba village is dangerous for the villagers in case the same is slipped therefrom.

The condition of old forest paths is very poor.

There is problem of selling of produces in the area.

Very low water flow in Satluj is increasing warming and creating moisture shortage for the crops.

Crossing of Khads is a main problem for the men and live stock as there are no bridge on the same.

Electricity rates are very high whereas a lot of power projects are planted in Kinnaur.

There is shortage of drinking water in Gharshu and Chhota Kamba village.

Existing span from Bhaba Nagar to Gharshu is usually out of order which create huge problem of carrying of daily needs by the people from distance.

No Rest house/community centre is held in the MWS for stay of visitors.

Shortage of LPG encourages the people to cut down the trees for fuel wood.

Due to closure of TD making of house has been difficult.

Blank areas of forest are increasing day by day.

The condition of Mahila Mandal Bhawan at Gharshu is miserable. No grant for the same has been given by government authorities as well as nathpa Projects authorities.

Fire hazards in sanctuary area are frequent which create loss to wild animals and plants.

SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT People require bridge at the place of rope way from Bhaba nagar to Chhota Kamba.

PEOPLES PRIORITIES

Widening, winding and maintenance of the path is required.

Cement concrete packing with nailing be done around the stone so that the same do not hurt the villagers.

Maintenance of the old forest paths is urgently required.

A outlet Centre for local produces be managed at a prominent place for selling of produces of the area. Good quality of Cow be given to the people on loan for milk production. Exposure visits of locals be managed for sanctuary area for their awareness.

Regular flow of water in Satluj as per orders existing be left in Satluj to solve the such problems.

Foot Bridge at Jaisam and Skarko on Slaring Khad be made.

Electricity be provided free or on lower rates to the people of Kinnaur.

CGI Sheets be provided to the people on subsidy or any alternative procedure for providing wood for making houses be adopted. Fallen trees be distributed amongst the people in suitable method.

All the blank areas be planted with suitable species like BL and soil binders.

Grant/Funds be given for maintenance of Mahila Mandal Bhawan Gharshu.

Fire committee be made in the villages and sufficient funds be made available for them. Fire fighting equipment be provided to them and training on fire prevention be imparted. Fire lines be made properly.
