SUGGESTIONS
Camps for educating the people about MFPs be managed.
PEOPLES PARTICIPATION: MAIN PROBLEMS A huge quantity of old and large plants being cut down for transmission lines. People are objecting the same. Forest Division at Nichar has been shifted to other place. Dumping of muck by the projects is not in proper way. Dumping of muck along Satluj river is dangerous as the same may cause heavy flood in the river. Fire hazards are in huge level in the forests. There are many plots of forest land lying blank in the area.
SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT Transmission lines be laid as per latest technology as adopted in other countries. Forest Division be re-located at Nichar. Proper dumping of the much on the sites earmarked with plantation therein be done. No dumping along side the Satluj river be allowed. Proper fire lines/straps at an interval of 50-100m be made to protect the forests from fire. All the blank areas be planted with suitable species and public community be involved in plantation works.
